*******Just added - Brand new music!*******

Please listen to the new song I just added - "My Song"

_____________________________________________________________

"Throw your words at me, I’ll have my way with them," mocks the young and sharp-tongued singer, guitarist and songwriter, Alexx Calise.

Cleverly blending hard rock, urban-edged pop, and electronica with biting social commentary, Calise’s music hits you hard like a steel fist. However, she’s unapologetic, and she’s got enough fight left to last a lifetime.

Delivering a sound that is both fresh and uniquely her own, Calise combines crunchy guitars and cutting-edge production with an instantly identifiable vocal that is hauntingly beautiful and completely raw all at once.

Calise grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she spent her childhood mostly alone or in the pages of a notebook, finding comfort only in her parents’ vast record collection, which included everything from Mozart to Led Zeppelin. At 11, she picked up the guitar to emulate her father, also a talented musician, and began fusing the melodies she heard in her head with her own poetry and recitations.

Now living in Los Angeles and continuing along the same path, Alexx Calise is fast becoming a household name, attracting over 13 industry endorsers including Gibson Guitars, Hughes & Kettner Amps, EV Microphones and EMG Guitar Pickups. She has appeared in Guitar World magazine, Blender magazine, and the nationally distributed method book, "How to Succeed as a Female Musician" alongside such notable artists as Lisa Loeb and The Donnas. Her music is being played extensively on MTV and VH1 Networks, and her breakout single, "Pull It (Bullet)" from her critically-acclaimed DIY debut album, "Morning Pill" is one of the heaviest rotation songs in Australia/New Zealand.

Poised and ready for the future and action-packed with attitude, this guitar-slinging songstress is slated to become one of the most intriguing and popular artists of our time.

SAB note of praise

As a young naive female in the music industry, I was under the impression that the key to success was talent, hard work, and determination. All I figured that I was lacking was promotion and publicity. Knowing that I would never get the kind of exposure and contacts that I would need in south Florida, I boldly gave up my job, all my security, friends and family and moved across the entire United States to Los Angeles, California. The city of angels... It was huge, home to all of the American major record labels... The possibilities were endless!

As I watched my saving dwindle to nothing over the next few months, even while working three full time jobs to support myself, I began to experience my first doubts about my decision.  While LA was expensive, this was where dreams come true and somehow, there had to be a way to make this work. I began investigating any and every opportunity I could find, to perform, to collaborate, to network.

When I first checked out SAB I must admit I was skeptical. The concept was SO far removed from the business model that I had grown up believing was the only route to commercial viability that it seemed strange yet intriguing. Then I was offered a traditional record deal with EMI in Australia and rejoiced. I was finally on my way... Or was I? As we began the long negotiation process, the weeks went by and the one-sidedness of my major label deal began to be apparent, I began to see the true simplistic beauty of SAB. By combining the fans and label into one cohesive unit, everyone was on the same team... And the consumer could vote for what he truly desired to hear with his wallet. The odds for success would have to improve drastically as the album is basically pre-sold before it is even recorded. And the fans are connected, not just by relating to the lyrics or the imagery of the artist, but by joint commerce.

Fast forward to this month when I decided to fully embrace SAB and now spend every free moment I have exchanging emails and friendly greetings with my newfound world-wide fan base. You people are the friends and family that I was lacking, your unyielding support and belief in my career and commercial viability as a long-term artist and songwriter is overwhelming. And you're not just heaping empty meaningless praise on me, you're putting your hard earned money behind me...That tells me that I am exactly where I need to be right now.

Thanks for listening, I promise we will set the world on fire when we hit that 50K mark together!

Always,

~Alexx Calise

This really is the City of Angels

After shopping for groceries at a Von's the other day, I started my car, and I heard a loud, whirring sound. I thought I'd run out of oil or that I needed steering wheel fluid because I couldn't cut the wheel, but it turns out that a rat had crawled under the hood of my car while I was inside (probably seeking shelter from the cold weather we've been having here), and somehow managed to take off one of my fan belts—not chew it off, but completely remove it altogether. It was quite an elaborate job, but this rat was obviously a fan of McGyver.

So, I manage to get it 4 blocks down the street to an Autozone on Pico Blvd (Of course it's the weekend, and there are no repair shops open. There would be no story otherwise). I'm pissed, I'm freezing, and I'm a girl. What the hell do girls know about fixing cars? Well, a lot apparently.

I thought she was just a cashier or a phone operator, but I was way off. Lori asked me to pop the hood to see what the problem was. The next thing I know, this girl is on her hands and knees in the freezing rain, fixing my car. I told her that there was no need for her to do all of that, and that she'd gone way above and beyond the call of duty, but she just smiled and said she was used to it. After all, she rides her bike to and from work every day, despite the torrential downpours we've been having here lately.

I was so impressed, and so grateful. If it were me, I don't know if I would have been so selfless. I don't do well with cold weather (I am a Floridian after all), and I sure as hell wouldn't be so willing to dig around under the hood of a stranger's car knowing that there's a dead rat lurking around there somewhere.

Well, for the next 2 hours that it took to fix it, Lori and I joked around about the "hood rat," and talked about life, relationships, and her love of cars. I found out that she's in mechanics school, she's a violinist, and she grew up with good Southern values (her father was from Texas) despite living her whole life in California. I knew that a regular mechanic would have charged me an astronomical amount of money for the amount of labor that went into repairing that damn car, but she didn't ask for anything. I could tell that all she wanted was to talk to someone and do what she loves to do most: fix cars. Never have I met someone so kind, and so willing to help someone they don't even know.

Life is so funny sometimes. Even in the oddest or stickiest of situations, something good can be drawn from the experience. In this case, it was Lori. If it wasn't for this extremely unusual and unfortunate incident, I probably never would have met her. I also wouldn't have gotten home that night, or, if I did, I would have had to inconvenience one of my friends to come and pick me up and then chance leaving my car unattended in a questionable neighborhood. I don't know what I did to deserve the treatment that I got the other night, but I must be in check with karma. Lori was my little glimmer of hope that day.

Sometimes, I feel ravaged by life out here—the constant struggle to survive, the competition, the extremeness of it all; but she truly brightened my day, and I felt compelled to tell the whole world about her.

A lot of people would probably agree that Los Angeles isn't so deserving of its title, but every so often, someone or something comes along to prove that miracles do happen, and that angels do in fact, exist. You just have to believe.

Alexx has great potential.

Alexx caught my attention originally, due to her original image, and professional sounds. However, due to her slight inactivity, i didn't believe.

So it was a huge surprise when i saw her dominating the charts once again. Increasing by over $1000 in a tiny amount of time! Thats right- Alexx was back on top form, top active form.

I checked her out once more, and i was amazed. I truly, could not hold back from pressing the red button! A strong production, an obvious desire for music, alongside a huge talent for original songwriting and powerful lyrics that hold back on nothing.

Alexx's music is a powerful brand of hard rock, with passionate and emotive lyrics- reminiscent of Lennon and the later Kelly Clarkson.

Her track 'Pull It [Bullet]' is a mega-hit in the waiting, with a gorgeous and effortless vocal performance, assigned with some of the catchiest hard rock you're likely to come across this side of Linkin Park.

'Good Enough' continues where 'Pull It' left off, and heightens the emotion a tad more. It draws in the more alternative-pop side of Alexx's music. Sellaband fans may also note a slight relation to Agata from Kontrust with this powerful tune.

And finally, the infamous 'Out Of Sight' which looks set to crack Alexx onto the American-rock scene. Already, the track is looking at being recorded by Kelly Clarkson, as well as MTV aiming to buy it for a new TV show! But essentially, this is another Alexx song, that emphasizes her brand of heart-wrenching honesty juxtaposed against pure brutality.

Alexx is original, powerful but most of all- talented. She is one of the few Sellaband artists that has, not only a potential for 50K, but a potential for worldwide fame.

Go Alexx, Goo!

Alexx Calise is an amazing artist. Her self-produced debut album is always in my CD player and on my iPod. I can't wait to see what she can record with a real Sellaband producer and proper recording studio!
