Hi everyone and welcome to my page!...i have included a bio for information and please feel free to visit my myspace page as well at  http://www.myspace.com/allisonbarkley8 for more music!

Allison Barkley grew up in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, just a few doors from the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, where she spent many imaginative days. In her early twenties she migrated west to Victoria, British Columbia, where she resided for a few years before packing and moving up north to the Yukon. She lived there as a pioneer woman and taught art classes at an elementary school, on reserve, in Lower Post, BC. After a few years in the Yukon, she travelled Canada for about a year, before slowly making her way back west.
Allison has been a figure painter for over ten years and has shown her work in galleries in Victoria and Vancouver. She is strongly influenced by the expressionists of the second world war. Allison is also a short film-maker and has done several small projects, mainly in the north. Now residing on the Sunshine Coast, she has started recording the music she's written over the past eight years with an amazing producer/musician/engineer, and now good friend, Andy, at Oceanview Studios and will soon be releasing her demo CD.
Allison has numerous musical influences, some of which are, Bob Dylan, Paul Chambers, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Elvis Costello, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell, The Band, Memphis Minnie, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Nick Cave, Traveling Wilburys, The Clash, The Dead Kennedys, The Grateful Dead, The Smiths, Portishead, Bjork, the Pixies, Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams, Leonard Cohen, The Pogues, Radiohead, Ricky Lee Jones, The Pretenders, the great Gillian Welch and many musicians from the deep south.
Allison has been writing poetry her entire life and is inspired by anyone doing anything creative. Allison is also co-owner of Raindogmedia.com....a web design business.

Aloha,

Thanks for the comment and kind words yourself. Was just listening to "This and That" and remembering the first place I ever played guitar in public. It was this little Coffee shop on the East side of the Salt Lake Valley. In the winters they'd turn the lights down low, light candles, and invite local musicians to come in and play some music. Some really nice music was played there, and that track reminds me of everything that was good about that music.

Keep it up, and keep in touch.

Aloha no,

Kimo

Allison,

Just wanted to say what's up. I came across your page today through Danny's and am really enjoying your tracks. I loved the sparse beats and the vocals are tight. Keep it going and best wishes.

Aloha,

Kimo
