Thursday, May 8th: Whew...what a day. Spent another 4 hours in the studio with Jamie and Rich, adding some background harmonies and fixing a couple things in some of the tunes we recorded on Sunday. I would so love to have my own studio...how convenient would that be.
We have a pretty good first mix of Look Outside in place. Today we added harmonies to that, as well as a first go-round of mixing down the individual parts. We may go back and tweek a few things here and there, but I'm very happy with the progress so far. Like all art, it's a work in progress. The trick is knowing when to say stop.
We'll be looking for constructive criticism of Look Outside. Please take a moment to listen and leave a comment.
Peace,
Bryan
Thursday, May 1st: WOOOHOOO! The Under Kings at $1k!
OK, OK, I know we've got a long way to go, but we've hit our first benchmark. It definitely an exciting time for us, this week especially. Beyond this accomplishment, we're set to hit the studio on Sunday with a focus on recording Jamie's latest song - Look Outside. This is a great tune that I think is one of his best yet. It's a song that crosses into several generations and styles. We've got a few people lined up to come out to the studio with us, including a couple fellow Sellabanders. Jamie and I are planning on videotaping the session, so you believers out there, stand by for some additional insight into the world of the Under Kings!
Peace,
Bryan

Monday, March 31st: Over the weekend I purchased the Korg D888 digital recorder and mixer board. I put it to use this evening at rehearsal and was able to capture just about all of the session. Tomorrow, Jamie and I will attempt to mix it all down to MP3 to post for the believers. It was a fun rehearsal, and we mixed it up by just creating some new jams out of the blue. It was all very raw, but for me, it demonstrated our ability to play from the hip, so to speak.
Keep checking back at our artist site - www.sellaband.com/underkings.

Friday, March 28th: We had a great time last night at the Whitpain. It was the first time Jamie and I had the whole band there for the Open Mic event. I know the house band who runs the Open Mic, so it's always fun to go out there and jam in a friendly environment. It's a unique experience for the crowd, as most of the musicians that come in only do covers. We come in and do all original, which is fun for the other musicians who may sit in with us. The best part is the crowd's reaction. We get a lot of positive feedback, but as you watch the crowd during the performance, you can tell by their body language how they feel about us.
We have some important rehearsals upon us, in preparation for the upcoming studio session, not to mention several shows in the Philadelphia area.
And a special thanks to Mark Supsic and his wife for coming out to the Whitpain to see us! He is a fellow Sellaband artist with tremendous song-writing ability. Be sure to visit him. He's on my wish list!
Until next time,
Musically yours!
Bryan

A big warm hello!
and just a note to tell you that I have a new song I would love you to hear. It is a crazy, revved up remix of my serene "Angel" and completely different from the original. It is totally unusual for me too - like a happy accident really, but very sensuous with exotic notes of the orient and I really wanted to share it here. It will add spice to a great night out on the town or make you want to dance with someone real close. Or at least that's what it makes me feel, so I thought I'd play it for you. It was born out of too many late nights of passionate brainstorming in the studio. So please listen for yourself and let me know what you think. if you like it jump on board and i will give you the song to have for your own '-)
peace, love and music
