And here on this site we'll see how things progress as I attempt to join in the search for talented new bands looking to get their break. So far I've found some very talented people...if I were a recording label I would pick them up immediately. Since my resources are a bit more limited than that, I'll do what I can and hope for a bit of good luck as well  :)

The EmpireOfOne Part Investment Manifesto

First and foremost, this site is about musicians and their fans getting together. If you love to perform, if you love for people to hear your music, if you love to get feedback from your fans, then this is the place for you. We believers are here to discover talented new musicians from around the world and if we like your music enough, if we feel that you should be given a chance to record a professional cd, if we really BELIEVE in you, then we are willing to act as your friends and help you save enough money to record and distribute your music. But all we can do is help; we can’t do it for you. You will have to promote yourself, you will have to generate fan interest, and you will have to show us that you are a musician at heart. Only then can our funds do anything for you. In other words, we believers can only open the door: going through is entirely up to you.

0 parts -- It is possible that I simply haven't heard of you yet. If you are new, I do accept invitations to visit your page. Given such an invitation, I will almost always check (at least) the first song in your lineup. I may not always have time to give feedback for every new band, but I will give you a chance. If you change your songs, and want me to revisit your page, drop me another note and I'll check it out. Even if I have heard your songs several times and still have not chosen to believe, don't give up. Perhaps the songs I heard just don't appeal to my style, but that doesn't mean that other people won't like them. I know you're working towards your dream and I fully support your quest to 50k. Just keep improving and focusing on your strengths, and don't let anyone say you gave up without a fight.

1 part -- If I have purchased 1 part in your band, then welcome to my Empire! This means I have heard something in your music that makes me believe you have potential. Maybe you have a good voice, are really good at writing or playing your music, or maybe a song is just so well written that I couldn't turn away from it. Whatever the case may be, by purchasing this part, I am going to keep my eyes on you to see if you can take that potential and make it grow. Can your great performance be duplicated?

Once I have joined your team, I will expect you to continue to grow your fan base and sell parts. If nothing else I would hope that your real world fans will join or contribute through you in order to help you achieve your dream. In other words if you really are serious about recording a cd, you should ALWAYS be moving forward or making an effort to…this is your DREAM after all…and I want to help you make it happen! If you’re going to be gone for a period, I certainly understand and won’t hold that against you.

2-3 parts -- If I have bought up to 5 parts in you that means there is something about your style that tells me you will be able to handle success and make good use of the 50k.

4-10 parts --- This amount represents an Empire economic boost. It means that I am aware of your talent and that I want others to start taking serious notice. You've convinced me that you can create good music consistently, and I'm committed to seeing you reach 50k and beyond.

Over 10 parts -- This means that not only do I believe in your music, but I also know you will make an excellent return on investment when the profits from your work get divided up. Any profits I get will most likely be placed back into new hopeful bands!! I hope your career goes well and that someday we can get together and talk about the good old days when you got your start on SellaBand!!

Removal of Parts -- If I ever feel that you have become inactive in sellaband for too long, or if you do not treat your fans well, or if I get the feeling that you simply are not serious about reaching 50k, then I will begin removing parts from you. I feel that parts are better invested in artists who are actively working towards the final cd and who have made themselves a part of the community and are willing to share and interact with their fans.
