My Blog

Hmmm its been nearly a year for me on sellaband proper - Sheet Metal is just over $4290.... I did post a lengthy forum post regarding my feelings being at this level. But now that has been exorcised I have set my sights on more positive things.

This weekend I will be attending the UK premier of Dario Argento's latest film "The 3 Mothers"  which is the 3rd in a trilogy started with his classic film SUSPIRIA - I can thoroughly recommend it to any non horror fans, just play it with the sound up loud and the lights off for the best effect.

Dreb and I have been brainstorming some more ideas including promoting another sellaband event October time, and also creating our own version of a tv reality show based on the different lives of the Sheet metal crew, and MR-10 and I may be collaborating on some twin guitar solos stuff in the future. Keep watching the main Sheet Metal page for details.....

Also to all the Sheet Metal Believers out there cheers for the last year its been cool, and the good news from Pel's hospital bed is that his ass is now fixed - so next  week we resume rehearsals and the writing of even better Sheet songs.

Cheers

Update time again....

We got some special stuff in the pipeline but I am sworn to secrecy - sschh

"THE SHEET METAL COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN"

Keep watching the Sheet Metal page - only 5 days to go .... oh by the way this is most definitely NOT an April Fool joke

Oh well Pel has a bad cold so no rehearsal this evening - not too bad really as I need to improve my online Call Of Duty 4 score - only 3 levels away from a 5 star General!

I have been addicted to this game since xmas. So any sellaband members out there who have a xbox 360 let me know your gamertag and I will try to meet online and shoot you all in the face - heh heh

Good news received today is my Gibson V customisation work is nearly complete so will be picking it up Monday night - at last. Sellagig 1st Feb will be its first public showing so am really looking forward to giving it a public thrashing......

One final thing revised setlist for the 1st Feb is -
1. London
2.This is a warning
3.Hell No
4.Road will End
6.20 to life
7.Hammer to your skull
8.My name is law

Due to time restrictions we had to drop Medusa :-(  maybe if we get time for an encore we will play it ????

Am working with a mate of mine to make a little intro tape for the gig as well which will be in keeping with our London theme

The Gods of Metal must have heard my pleading to have my Gibson Flying V finished for Sellagig - apparently my guitar customiser Rob said its just waiting final laquering and then it will be ready - by next week! Cool. For all those guitar gurus out there will post a finished piccy when i get it

**UPDATE**
11/1/08

Phew! I have been feeling a bit ill this week and wasn't looking forward to rehearsing for our Sellagig performance on feb 1st - but managed to drink lemsip beforehand and ended a really great rehearsal session bathed in sweat - not all of which was mine  eeeuurrggggh

Well we tested out a nice short sharp shock tactic set which felt really good - to the point and no holds barred so if u are coming to the gig expect no mercy as we will be firing on all cylinders!

We realised from some gig footage that we probably were a bit under rehearsed and our stage craft needed beefing up. We had at times a painful band meeting where we all raised our issues and I think it was very positive because last night we rocked out in a BIG way. The solos ripped up the place and we even managed to tweek a new-un "Hammer to your skull" to improve it further.

Other stuff involved Chinch premiering a new song idea which we all immediately liked ( always a good sign ) and I have a few tunes and lyrics for a new song which will be titled MONKEY FARM

So the new year has started off with a resounding bang and all the band felt good and ready to deliver a great gig in Feb - so be there or retain your hearing ability!

**SECRET**
so if u have read my blog to this point I got some insider info for you,
the possible setlist for the gig will be

1. London
2.This is a warning
3.Hell No
4.Road will End
5.Medusa
6.20 to life
7.Hammer to your skull
8.My name is law

So there u have it - psst dont tell Dreb or I will be in trouble!

Rock it!

Ok so I have not blogged for a while ....

Am really pissed off at the moment cos my Gibson Flying V has been at the guitar customisers for 3 fukin' months and its still not ready! Am keepin my fingers crossed it will be ready for the sellagig in 1st Feb 2008 - it was a white V but is being pimped to look similar to the one in my profile piccy.

The gig at the Peel was a bit weird for me, I couldnt hear a bloody thing properly, kept hittin the wrong effects pedals and played like a complete monkey... oh well will try and rehearse a bit more and pull a few more "shapes" next time. I also stuck a steak knife into my hand on the day of the gig ( accident of course ) which resulted in blood on my marshall cab when the plaster gave way :-(

The band will be holding a critical review of some video we shot at the gig so we can iron out any weak areas ( chinch? - lol ) . Chinch has already indicated that London - our last song ended up lookin really good so maybe we can upload it for u all to laugh at some time.

One final special thanks go out to Lucretia who drove all the way from Birmingham to see us - what a star!

gRIM signing out - ps  hope u all have a great Xmas

14/6/07

Ok so busy as hell this week - work is a complete nightmare as I will be off for some r'n'r  for a week in a tent next week at Glastonbury Festival...

Hope the weather stays warm and dry otherwise I may really lose it as its now nearly 4 weeks since quitting smokin'  - i have had a  couple of respites where i tried a smoke but ended up coughing and hating it so i suppose its going well ???

Its gonna be a quiet few weeks as our drummer is recovering from an operation on his ass (dont even ask!) but I am sure once Dreb returns from hols things will pickup as we work towards preparing the start of our new material which is intending to go on our album when we get to 50k...

Oh yeah and to really fuck me off my motorbike service is gonna cost £2k!!! what a bitch..

...now wheres that alcohol?

8/6/07

Ok the start of my blogging - decided to put my money where my gob is and invest in some choice talent today...

the London Calling event left me recovering whilst crossing London on my motorbike whilst trying not to crash or be pulled over by the cops!

Got to work 15 mins late and then felt drunk until the evening - yay rock'n fukin roll!

Am lookin on ebay at moment as i want to buy a decent VW camper van - got my eye on one with lowered wheels, coolalloys - a real surfer dude van. Will post a piccy if i manage to win it this weekend.

As Dreb is away on hols a big hi to our believers and friends    Lucretia,Greebo,Brian,Oono,Kir t,Tiff,Martin and all of Sunsoma

Have quit smokin for 10 days now ( with a 2 fag whilst drunk on tues night ) so am chewin gum like a madman.

On the music front Dollop and me will be gettin together soon to work on some new riffs and harmony guitar parts for our new material. Once we got 3 or 4 really cool tunes recorded in our local flea pit studios we will air them to our believers only via our website.

I have also written a couple of lyrics/songs which once censored by the band may end up as recorded material.

Have a great weekend to our believers & everyone on sellaband

Cheers

Kostek is a very talented musician, arranger and performer - and a great guy I met in Almelo. Decided to believe since I kept playing his tracks on my playlist. Yet another great artist overlooked but not by me!
CAYA back in Holland CAYA back in Holland 13.04.08 2
Casper plays with genuine feeling and flair sometimes overlooked by some of today's more technical players. He is a bone fide stud and one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to meet, this would be enough to believe but when you add the gorgeous Sheila with a voice to die for you have an unbeatable package. CAYA deserve your belief and your attention!

You remember the "Dreb from the fog" picture? It put an image in my head that I can't shake. I am soooo seeing him with the fangs and the cape on Halloween at this point in time.

Hi Grimster. All the best to you and the boys and thanks for dropping by. Will have to see how I'm fixed nearer the time for Selloween as the outlook is changeable for the next few months but would love to get down there again (damn how do you swing such juicy and tempting lineups or do I have the Drebster to blame for that?)

Can Pel sit down again yet or are you training him to drum from an upright position henceforth?

Hey Grim,

The Sheet Metal upgrade is well deserved. Really like the '06 6 6 songs. Will inquire about that invitation!
