Hupenyu Kumusha.
Incredible mix of feelings and passion on this album. Every song has this exceptionally tight African pulse delivered so convincingly by the rhythm section; Shasha on the bass, Adam on percussion and Mbira and Willy on the Drums. The diversity of tones delivered by Roger on his les Paul and Bengt on his wicked keyboard seem to melt into one another like Sadza and Gravy and I had a tough time giving these two guys the tonal space they deserved.
Busi and Chi were absolutely inspirational to work with and taught me a lot about recording vocals and really opened up my ear to the concept backing vocals and how important they can be on an album. Charlie had an incredible take incorporating Hebrew into the intro and middle eight of my personal favorite song “Abadala” and was always there to lend energy and good humor to the sessions. I must not forget my father in this because without Jules this whole project may not have been possible, he provided the group with Tregenna (our home) the place where the conception and rehearsals of the music came together.
It was really difficult for me as an inexperienced studio engineer to harness the talent and creativity of such amazing musicians in the short time we had to make this album but I can only hope to do better the next time round and to learn from the few mistakes we made.
If anyone wants a real taste of how a collaboration should sound you have come to the right place. This Album shows a phenomenal cross section of culture and a delicious selection of sounds ranging from classical right the way through to rock having meandered by everything in-between but still maintaining a distinct Zimbabwean sound.

A big warm hello!
and just a note to tell you that I have a new song I would love you to hear. It is a crazy, revved up remix of my serene "Angel" and completely different from the original. It is totally unusual for me too - like a happy accident really, but very sensuous with exotic notes of the orient and I really wanted to share it here. It will add spice to a great night out on the town or make you want to dance with someone real close. Or at least that's what it makes me feel, so I thought I'd play it for you. It was born out of too many late nights of passionate brainstorming in the studio.
