Latest update to this profile: 15/06/2009 The knifelady returns. Expect more profile commenting, more likelihood of getting a response to a message and do keep your eyes very firmly on my wishlist and playlist. In the case of the former you can track artists I'm thinking about investing in, or writing about in my next blog. In the case of the latter I'm having a reshuffle and adding some more tracks that I really like.
Info for new artists: Due to the way things appear to be heading and the changes compared to the original Sellaband terms and conditions, I have taken the following decisions regarding investment in artists:
1. New artists will only be getting one part initially

2. Subsequent parts purchases will occur based on when I have people interested in purchasing the album, or if you can convince me it's worth going for an incentive in your case (trust me, that won't be easy unless I really get hooked on your music)

3. Parts purchased under the original Sellaband rules of 1 part = 1CD are likely to largely remain intact, however I will be reviewing individual cases as they approach the 50K target.

4. If I feel my balance is getting too large compared to the value of parts I am spending each month, I will now be withdrawing money from the Sellaband system, rather than increasing investment in other artists to "use up" the spare money.

There are 2 main things you need to know about me

1. I signed up to Sellaband because I got struck by a vision as I read about the concept. It's been on my page since the day I signed up and you'll find it below.

2. I am known as the "knife lady" not only because of my picture but because I also operate "hatchet day" on the first of every month. Basically if you are an artist on my wish list who hasn't updated their profile for a while you will be deleted and will have to prove to me you can get fans and move through the rankings if you want me to consider ever investing in you. Additionally I also may move parts from artists on my list of belief that I haven't seen round Sellaband in several months. Usually in this case you'll get a warning shot fired across your page the month before I do (exception is artists under $100 in budget who haven't updated their profile in a large number of months) Planned changes are always mentioned in my monthly "hatchet day" blog post.

Let me share my vision

These are early days, but I already have my own vision of what Sellaband could be in future given the right amount of time and effort. I think Sellaband can be bigger than you imagine!

I'd like to think that every artist who records on here will have such a great memory of doing so, that they'll want to keep coming back again and again. If you are an artist who wants to control their own destiny, this could well be the place for you.

Because why stop at recording music? How about playing it as well?

I see so many artists with fans asking "When are you going to come and play in my country?". Imagine an established Sellaband artist with a list of venues for their tour. Countries they don't think they have the money to visit at that time but where they have fans. Could you prove them wrong and help them raise enough money for a tour date in return for your concert tickets and that elusive backstage pass?

Things are never quite that simple, but... Do you begin to see the power yet? The possibilities?

I am only a believer, but I believe the future may hold wondrous things.

And as for boring old me, people often ask me where the name comes from - it's actually an anglicised form of Lucrezia Borgia. Here's a quote attributed to this interesting historical figure.
