Francis Rodino Band - The Clapham Grand - Friday 9th November 2007

There was an idea raised by Utterly B Groovy to make some graphic design pieces for the event, so I have made a poster and some flyers - both of which you can view in my photo album.

The idea is for every believer of Francis Rodino to print off copies of the flyers and pass them around to people who might be interested in joining the Sellaband phenomenon; this is to try and promote Francis and his band as well as also promoting Sellaband at the same time: a sort 'two in one' idea.

Anyway, it would be much appreciated if as many of Francis' believers as possible could be involved in this project. All you have to do is ask either me - or Francis, or Utterly B Groovy or my dad (Richard Markham) - for a printout of the flyers for the event and we can send a set to you; after that you just have to go around and hand them out.

We see this as a great opportunity to promote Sellaband and bring in some more believers to increase artists' belief as well.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

PS. It would be great if as many of you as possible could also attend at the event. It would mean a lot to the band and to Francis and to all of us. Thanks.

These guys are well worth a look in.

They've got hints of John Mayer for the quintessential teenager, and undercurrents of Hendrix for the contemporary 70's kid.

Give them a listen. I can you promise you that you'll enjoy it.

Well... what can I say? WOW! My dad (Richard) pointed these guys out to me over email, as he spends a lot more time surfing the new bands than I do on this site, and otherwise I probably would never have discovered this awe-inspiring collaboration of young musicians. These guys are aged between 16 and 18, yet, when I played a sample of their music to one of my friends (who, like me, is a massive fan of their influences: John Mayer and Jimi Hendrix), he immediately asked me if it was one of the forementioned classic artists. It is true, these guys display obvious links to legendary artists such as Hendrix, and I even detect a hint of Cream, however they are in no way copying what has already been done in the past (and they are not trying - because no-one, no matter how good, could ever match the extreme guitar playing of the late Hendrix), instead, this band bring a new refreshing spin to the alternative rock genre. Their songs are lively, but at the same time surprisingly relaxing - this is a challenge that can only be mastered by the best of musical artists. These guys are definitely worth a listen, and then another 20... when they reach the $50K mark, they are going to be making a big impact all across the music industry.

I can't remember how I discovered this guy on SAB. But all I can say is that I'm thankful that I did. Andy combines jaw-dropping guitar skills and pure vocal talent to produce lively, intriguing and catchy acoustic blues tunes. As I said to him in one of my comments, his resonates a certain sense of Kane Sole's songs, and maybe even some hints of Newton Faulkner. Although the styles can be detected, his music is completely original, with a completely unique sound to it.
Characters Characters 14.04.08 3

These guys, are brilliant! My dad (yet again) was the one that gave me their reference, and when I listened to them, it took a mere 30 seconds before I invested my first part. Similar to another Dutch band that I have invested in ('Relish'), 'Characters' have managed to capture the funk rock genre perfectly, with noticable moments of blues soul thrown in for good measure. It surprised me that these guys weren't actually industry pros when I first listened; cos their musical ability is beyond impressive.

RELISH RELISH 14.03.08 3
This funkadelic Dutch jazz band were originally brought to my attention in late 2007 and I was immediately hooked by their remarkable style. I can honestly say that this is like nothing I've ever heard before, and because of this, their brilliance is harder to describe. Although the members of this band are still young and probably spent some time experimenting with different musical designs, it appears that they have found their niche, and have made a perfect decision in the choice that they have stuck with. It's a shame to see that their music is not gaining more notoriety on this site, because they definitely deserve it and I think they would stand a very good chance of success on the mainstream market. Anyway, if you're looking for something to tickle your musical tastebuds, then this is a must-listen band, check them out, and if you like them then help me and other believers to get their name known around Sellaband.
David Patrick David Patrick 07.11.07 3
An awesome and determined artist. His musical skill is truly astounding, and the mood that are created through his songs is one of the most relaxing, yet energy-packed that I have ever heard. I have listened to his album 'Proximity' with the band 'Otis' and it's absolutely fantastic. He's worked on an album with RoxClaytonScott that I'm really looking forward to hearing sometime soon. I just hope that he keeps making this beautiful music and reaches his dream of $50K. Let's all help him reach that goal.
Kane Sole Kane Sole 26.10.07 3
Kane's music is fantastic. My dad managed to get me interested in his music and I, in turn, have managed to get one of my friends interested, also. I hope that this sequence continues on down the line. This artist is so laid-back that he is beyond horizontal (a characteristic that I would happily take on myself), yet his music shows immense precision and hard-work. I could listen to this music all day and not get tired of it. Brilliant stuff: I hope that there is much more to come of this.
SNOWMAN SNOWMAN 26.10.07 1
Snowman also have brilliant qualities to their music. They are also very different. The vocals on every song are brilliant, and every instrument is perfectly in tune and time with each other. Everything layers up to create a wonderful sound. I really hope that this band gets to make their Sellaband album very soon. It would be well worth the listen.
Lu-Li Lu-Li 26.10.07 1
Lu-li has an intriguing quality to her music that I can't quite put my finger on, but it's still great all-the-same. All the different instruments in her songs combine beautifully with her obvious vocal talent to produce top quality music. I see a bright future for this artist. $50,000 should not be hard to come by for this wonderful musician.
Quintus Quintus 26.10.07 1

When listening to Quintus, no matter what mood I was in before, I always move into one of extreme tranquility. The music gives the sense of waves gently sliding across a smooth beach. Everything about these songs is relaxing. I look forward to the day that this wonderful artist gets the opportunity to record his Sellaband album. I get the feeling that it will be well worth the wait.

BONNIE BONNIE 25.10.07 1
Bonnie were introduced to me - as with most other bands that I have come to admire through this site - by my dad. I first heard the fantastic 'Shine on You': followed by the equally brilliant 'The One for Me' and 'Triste Historia'. The music in the pieces is very smooth and relaxing, at the same time being powerful and passionate. Sofi's beautiful voice contributes another energy-filled layer to songs. I look forward to hearing more good stuff from this artist in the near future.

Daniel Ward-Murphy supports Kane Sole Daniel Ward-Murphy supports Kane Sole 15.10.07 6
I have been in awe of Daniel's music since the very first time I heard 'She's a Knockout'. The style of the playing and the vocals was so different to the usual stuff that I had listened to, that I was immediately intrigued. For me to listen to Daniel's music in the first, it took a recommendation from my father, who is firm believer in Daniel's success; however, Daniel's stupendous talent was reinforced - even more so - when I saw him live - along with 24 other believers - at Dean St. Studios in London. The experience of just being there, in such great company, would've been enough for me; but with the performances of 21 songs, from the brilliance of Daniel, Jennifer Delaney, Helen Twomey and Milo Bird, just left me speechless. This artist deserves every bit of good luck that he receives and it is inevitable that his music will be selling worldwide very soon indeed.
Francis Rodino Francis Rodino 15.10.07 2
Since the first time I heard Francis' music when my dad recommended him to me, I have been astounded by the quality of Francis and his band. 'Walk With Me' and 'Any Day Now' along with all the rest of his songs are thought-provoking and heart-stopping pieces of music. This, mixed with the mind-bogglingly brilliant backing music from Francis' amazingly-talented band makes for a super ensemble act.
