About me
Hi, I’m Adam and I’ve been working with SellaBand since a month before the site was launched on 15 August 2006.
I’ve always been involved in music – I started out in my teens as a guitar player working with various bands and writers while doing sessions for companies such as Island Records, RAK and Chappell Publishing. I later got involved with Pebble Beach Sound Recorders, a recording studio near Brighton, England whose clients included Ian Dury, The Stranglers, Slade, Tim Hardin, The Adverts, Dave Edmunds, Penetration and Nick Lowe. I learned how to make records there and eventually produced artists including Matumbi, Wasted Youth, UK Subs, Praying Mantis, Gary P. Nunn and the Pride Of Texas, Edoardo Bennato, Big Country, The Members and Splodgenessabounds. As a guitarist I played on many recording sessions, TV shows and commercials including Alexis Korner, Spitting Image (11 TV series), Who Dares Wins, Harry Enfield, Radioactive, KYTV and Whose Line Is It Anyway.
I then took a break from playing and producing and ran the jazz department at Tower Records’ UK flagship Piccadilly store for three years. It was a wonderful experience and gave me access to great music I wouldn't have heard otherwise.

After this I joined Sony Music to run their newly opened Sony Jazz division, and over the next ten years as Director, Jazz, UK and International, I worked with many wonderful artists such as Wynton and Branford Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Hugh Masekela, Angélique Kidjo, Béla Fleck, Rodney Crowell, Jane Monheit, Tower Of Power, Martin Taylor, Clare Teal, The Bad Plus, Richard Bona, Keb Mo' and David Sanchez.
In 2000 I set up sonyjazz.net which has been acknowledged as one of the standard bearers for music websites by encouraging user generated content and reviews by jazz fans throughout the world.
But right now being involved with SellaBand may be the most exciting time I’ve ever had – not only working with some fantastic musicians but with Believers who are just as fanatical about music as we all are. It’s as if we were all inoculated with a phonograph needle!
Many thanks for all your comments and support. We really couldn’t do any of this without you.

My Blog
16 February
It's been a terrific couple of weeks - "All Access" at the Paradiso in Amsterdam was an amazing night. There were great performances from Cubworld, Francis Rodino and especially No Doubt as well as the video links with Mandyleigh in Perth, Clémence in Paris and Lily in New York.
I also finally met Thomas Boissy while over in Holland - a great guy with a huge talent, to talk about his album and who should produce it. I'm also currently working on potential producers with Mysti Mayhem, T-Ka and Bulletproof Messenger.
Meanwhile Francis Rodino's album is coming along very well - or so he tells me as he won't let me hear anything - yet! His producer Steve Bush is really happy with it too, and once there are a few more vocals recorded I'll take a listen.
Excellent new artists on the site especially Civilised Tears, The Mitchell Blues Band, Niki Thunders, Lijie, Juliana Sparks and Shira.
But Juliana Sparks and Ellie Williams are my new artists of the year so far. I'm sure they'll both be recording their SellaBand albums before too long.
