About me

8,000 Profile Views!

I have a myspace site here and am keen to make friends with as many musicians and music fans as possible. I am always keen to try out new recommendations and am constantly exploring the 'net for interesting sounds. I am a Napster subscriber, mainly listening but not buying there. I buy music on download from Amie Street and if I really like something I'll buy the tangible version on CD. Finally, I have signed up with Last FM in order to help "my" artists get wider exposure.

I guess I go for interesting voices and melodies first, lyrics second.  In my early 20s I briefly played keys in a rehearsing rock band, but nothing came of it. Nevertheless I loved making the music. My other interests are photography, cinema (including good soundtracks!) and soccer (supporting Reading FC).

I have loved live music right from when I attended performances at my university folk club (Keele, UK) and other student gigs.

Artists I have followed at one time or another include:

Rolling Stones, Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Uriah Heep, Hawkwind, Can, King Crimson (pre-1975 lineup), Neil Young, The Band, some Genesis, early Deep Purple, Mountain, Cream, Car avan, Sean Tyla, Dave Edmunds, Ian Dury, The Jam, Edgar Broughton, Pink Fairies, Rush, Steeleye Span, Fairport, Richard Thompson, Velvets, Sabbath, Blizzard of Oz, Judas Priest, Led Zep, Peter Gabriel, Peter Hammill, Joy Division, some Zappa, Human League, TG, Kraftwerk, Wire, Siouxsie, Magazine, Split Enz, Burlesque, Fab Poodles, New Order, Crowded House, The Cure, Talking Heads, Beta Band, King Creosote (and other Fence stuff), Finn Brothers, Muse, Beck, Doves, The Killers, Yo La Tengo, Ry Cooder, Cat Power, Catherine Feeny, Tift Merritt, Joan as Policewoman and lots of other folk and singer-songwriter types, especially Americana and alt-folk.  But I'll listen to most anything really.

My Blog

9 June 2008:  I'm finally getting some income back; just over $1 predicted, all thanks to Julia.  I decided to take 10 of my 30 copies and have given 5 away (including 2 to established artists), kept one and put 4 up for sale on Amazon marketplace; we'll soon see if there's any general interest!

I'm flat broke though, so no new investment for me except by recycling parts and ROI.  Still wondering if I can pull together enough cash for a trip to Sellabration.

13 May 2008: still recovering from late nights and excessive beer consumption visiting Moorlandt in his home city of Brussels along with Kristen (part of her European tour!), Vincent B, Isca and Mrs I. Among many highlights of  a great get together was a packed out 3-hour Saturday night gig on the "Hotel Cafe 2008" tour - six artists/friends alternating numbers and helping eachother out, with a very useful house band.  Several of us thought this format might be the shape of things to come for SAB and live performers generally.  Check out the excellent performers (not SAB) - Catherine Feeny, Tom McRae, Greg Laswell, Jim Bianco, Cary Brothers and  best of all Brian Wright.

In the other time we had we also managed a brewery visit (more drink), a jazz club, a city centre sightseeing afternoon and finally a visit to the home of Moorlandt himself; very considerable thanks are due to his family for putting up with a bunch of strange foreigners dropping in!

Above all, huge thanks to Moorlandt himself for his valuable time and warm welcome. He will be a hard act to follow when he comes to the UK, that's for sure!

See a snap of the full party on my photos tab - thanks Chris for allowing me to use it.

4 Feb 2008: after 2 weeks of flu and several more of intensive work, it was great to emerge into the real world again with a night out at Dave Patrick's Sellagig at 229 last night. Ideally I would also have done the 1 Feb show, but my wallet and stamina would not have stood it.

I went along as "assistant" to my good long-time friend Peter Meade, who was to take the "official" still pix, though in the end my role was largely to introduce him to the artists and let him get on with it. He is posting his best pix at http://www.flickr.com/photos/p jmeade/

Dave let us in about 4.30 so Peter could shoot backstage and setup/soundcheck pix and this enabled us both to get to know the artists and (I hope) put them at their ease.  I have to say that without exception everyone I met was warm and friendly and very positive about the Sellaband concept. I also met and chatted with fellow believers Kevin Taverner, Wyando, Dave The Esthameian and Triff. I was as ever much impressed that  Wyando had made it over from Cologne in Germany! We spoke several times and I finally made my own entry in his SAB offline profile (ie book!).

The concert itself started around 7.30 with a short but well-received set from Clem, accompanied by his own acoustic guitar and a clarinet - which made for a different and very interesting sound.  Although I enjoyed Summertime and Just Wanna B Loved immensely, it was the Turkish sounding number with exotic clarinet which really grabbed me!

Cris Tanzi and friends then stole the show for me with a well-judged and beautiful short set.  The low ceiling seemed to suit Cris' voice and relatively quiet material best of all the artists and her pure voice was in top form. She also won the night's style award for me - her neat, elegant dress reflecting her personality as I have picked it up through the SAB site and her songs.

Cris was followed by Rebecka Haak and her band, comprising sisters Marie (cello) and Rebecca (violin) Fransson.  They put on a very professional performance despite less than perfect sound which made it hard to hear the lyrics clearly at all times.  Rebecka also had a very good stage presence, both with her striking makeup and clothes and in the way she engaged with and relaxed her audience. If she was nervous, it didn't show!

Rox Clayton-Scott and her very tight band then gave us a storming selection form her new (and very good) album "What I meant to say". She too had a very warm, confident and upbeat stage presence and constantly acknowledged the band's contribution.  Her considerable experience in front of an audience was a clear asset.  The other nice thing was seeing Dave P have a chance to relax at last, after all the stress of organising and running the night!

The evening finished with Kaitee Page and her band, followed by Julia Marcell. Kaitee injured a finger just before her set, but the show went on and she didn't let it affect her.  Unfortunately, though the songs were great and well sung, the overall effect was marred by the sound - the overall voume was far too high for the low room and the sound engineer struggled to get Kaitee's own violin audible in the mix. In the end much of the detail, which makes the music so engaging on record, was battered into submission.  I was left feeling I would like to see Kaitee again, but in a proper auditorium; hopefully impending fame means won't be too long now!

Julia had to wait till around 10.40 pm to get on stage with her string quartet, but they didn't let the wait show as they gave us around half an hour of mesmerising if sometimes challenging songs.  I recognised Accordion Player and Dancer, amongst others, but some of the material was new to me, including one song where Anna and Patrycja (?) formed a novel rhythm section by clapping their hands against eachother's as in an elaborate playground game. It was highly effective and got everyone's attention!  Also, although again I couldn't make out all of the lyrics due to the sound, I heard enough to gather that two or three of the songs need further investigation for their off-centre themes... The string arrangements and playing were absolutely top drawer - Julia needs to hang on to these guys (well 3 women and one man). I can't wait for the album.

After the music ended, about 30 of us (believers, crew and artists) hung around having a relaxed drink until gently ejected by security just after midnight. A really good time having been had by this correspondent.

And finally...  It was great to see Francis (Rodino) and Daniel (Ward-Murphy) again, this time as members of the audience. Both seemed happy and well and were even persuaded to take part in a short backstage portrait sitting!

8 December 2007: it's a wet cold weekend in the UK and I am contending with a stubborn child, who should be working for his exams but won't. Oh dear - Matt you know who you are!  I have comforted myself by trawling the last weeks' new Sellabands and come up with Inger Hansen, Archangelica, Porterhouse, Churchill AC, Grassering and RoadRunner. All for different reasons.  I've booked my attendance at Dave Patrick's 3 Feb Sellagig, which looks like being a great evening. one of my friends has agreed to take some professional photos.

On 9 November 2007, I saw Francis Rodino Band's headlining appearance at the Grand, Clapham. My son Matt had prepared flyers (based on a draft by Utterly B Groovy) and they plus other promotional material were much in evidence when Nick Deaves (fellow believer), Randall Cameron (my brother in law) and I arrived at the venue just after 9 after a couple of warm up pints down the road.

It was a big room, with a raised bar along the back partially screened off by perspex, so you could watch the acts but still hear to some extent!  I had the privilege of buying the great man a pint and getting in a few words before he had to go prepare. He was relaxed and happy, as you would expect. While the stage was being changed for his band, I got the chance to meet Sellabanders BIM (including a nice chat with Tim), John, Mandyleigh Storm, Triff, Adam Sieff and UBG himself (including amateurish - on my part - manlegging).  I missed Isca (languishing at some inferior musical event in Minehead (!)) selling me something.

Francis was on good form despite iffy sound and although the room could have taken more people, the audience more than made up for any gaps with their volume and enthusiasm. Francis and Nick were all over the place (physically) as they worked through an energetic 50-minute set, including one solo acoustic number and culminating (of course) in a storming verson of "Burn".  To my mind Francis could have chatted more, but it looked like the band was under pressure to get through the set by a given time. Nevertheless, he managed to get some good rock'n'roll patter in - including his outrage at being denied wine is his dressing room! - also plenty about his Sellaband achievement (which was also hyped by the MC).  What with Francis' efforts and the various literature lying about, not may could have missed the Sellaband connection.

During the set I heard a couple of songs I didn't know, including one dramatic slow rocker dedicated to his friend Annie - I wouldn't mind knowing what that was and hearing it again.

All in all, a successful and fun night out, in good company. Good luck to Francis and the crew now as they dive into the recording studio to produce that world-beating album!

Set list was:

Hollow

Wide Asleep

Too Long Now

Yellow (Coldplay cover)

Lines (Acoustic version)

Skin (Acoustic version)

When September Ends (Green Day cover)

When We Know Everything

Summer Sun

Planetary (encore)

and the band was on fine form despite less than fantastic acoustics in the cosy stone barn!

Isca and I travelled together and met the whole band, who were in good form despite a long day setting up and doing the sound for all the support acts (including Mel's brother Ru Oxlade + friends, and young pop/rock outfit Retrofect who were both excellent acts too - I bought Retrofect's album "New York Kiss" and wasn't disappointed).

Sunsoma took to the stage around 10 to a great reception from a decent crowd - many of whom were not seeing them for the first time from the sound of it!  This was the first gig for Lee, the new keyboard player and he looked the part (as you can see from the photos) and fitted in well with the Sunsoma sound.

A couple of the songs were new to me, but I really enjoyed them, despite trying to concentrate on videoing proceedings with Mel's camcorder.

There was a great roar for the band's traditional encore "Planetary" and then it was all over, with another few hours of clearing up and travelling ahead for the band.  However, Mel pronounced the effort well worthwhile - the charity collection target had been met and exceeded with some generous donations.

The band continues to investigate all avenues to develop and breakthrough and is optimistic that the current lineup will give them a great platform to move ahead.  Watch for developments on SAB in the very near future! And read SUNSOMA's own blog about the evening.

In the spotlight
ArtistAnnie Bacon

Annie's music made an immediate impression on me when she joined Sellaband; individual, quirky maybe, but demonstrating skillful writing with a unique flavour. And from day one she has hit us with all she has, keeping us all informed of her progress, testing new song ideas here and even opening up her back catalogue of home recordings for inspection. She makes regular and intelligent contributions to the forums, always upbea t and positive. She is clearly dedicated to what she does and with her distinctive voice (in both senses) will definitely carve out her niche. She also has some important things to say, without being heavy-handed. If anyone deserves to be helped to that first big milestone, it's Annie. Do listen and join her on this exciting journey!

Marie has a gorgeous voice and a great talent for writing a catchy song. These talents allied with a tremendous joy for life will bring her big success. I wish Marie the very best of luck as she re-establishes herself in the UK music scene after her spell in Thailand with The Tonic Rays. I have every confidence that there is much more great work to come.
SUNSOMA SUNSOMA 06.07.07 17
Mel's songs are strong, catchy and offer plenty of variety. The band looks good, puts everything into its performances and is clearly determined to succeed, with very good SAB communication skills. For my money the band also offers the most powerful drummer, pound for pound, of any band I have seen!  See these guys live; I did and they were just great.

Laixa delivers an eighties style rock experience (in a good way), with her sweet breathy voice high in the mix and frequently double tracked. The backing is always technically good and sometimes reminds me of Rush and their kind. A sophisticated and involving offering. And she looks great too!

I'm not sure why I waited so long. I was convinced by the "Stronger" collab and then Paul's Friday double parts offer was just too tempting.
BONNIE BONNIE 27.08.07 6
Energetic, melodic young band performing infectious, vibrant pop songs, fronted by Sofia's pure and beautiful voice. Their songs are varied but retain a definite identity and I love the overall sound, whether in English or Spanish (at which they are equally convincing). Finally, they are really lovely to do business with!
mooncrow mooncrow 06.07.07 6
I warmed to Mooncrow after initially being put off by his apparently cool and very stripped back sound. I went back and saw that his is actually a warm and expressive voice, delivering carefully observed, intimate, often witty nuggets of song, which benefit from close listening. It's quite early days but Mooncrow has much talent and a clear vision of what he wants to achieve. It will be a fascinating journey - join him.
Alex Joe Marczak* Alex Joe Marczak* 07.03.08 5

Thank you Mazzarak for the intro. I was profoundly tired late at night when I finally listened, but was immediately shaken awake by some really involving and beautifully arranged songs.  The reflective Eliot's Song (my favourite at first hearing) reminds me of the liquid and pure expressive tones and tunes of the young Peter Hammill. Possible single A Girl With A Crush rocks out, yet with genuine emotion, and finally the restrained and delicate Happiness is Mine "soars quietly", if that is possible.

This is one talented guy, for sure. Damn him.

Annie Bacon Annie Bacon 05.03.08 5
Annie looks like being a major asset to Sellaband, not only for her music but for her positive approach to the SAB concept and community.  Along the way we also get a great voice and what at first hearing looks like a unique viewpoint.  This is going to be an intriguing journey.

Punchy Ramones-influenced style from Oz-rockers. Great ringing guitar sound and distinctive vocals make for a top package right up this listener's street.
Wildcat Wildcat 25.09.07 4
German vocalist Tan invited me to listen to her dreamy songs set to electronic music. She has a lovely voice and  interesting textures to the backing. I was finally persuaded by the eerie and very professional video to "Timeless Time", where the music and images are a perfect compliment.
Kane Sole Kane Sole 06.07.07 4
Kane claims he was brought up on the beach in New Zealand and his music sounds like it - relaxed and laid back. He has strong composition skills and a very nice voice and sounds like he should have been signed long ago. And he shares my birthday, which has got to be good.
*TELEPATHY* Baby I Am *TELEPATHY* Baby I Am 05.04.08 3
Willow's music reminds me very much of the late 1960s psychedelic era and the sweeping prog of the early 1970s, though the lyrics are contemporary and relevant.  All 3 tracks up as of now (Apr 08) are very strong instrumentally and vocally, with the remixed "10th Mile From the Sun" in particular a genuine tour de force which deserves wider exposure.  Willow's voice is superb - high and pure - while the instrumentation is always interesting, with Eastern sounds used to stunning effect.
Jennifer Berdetta ~ on to $6k! Jennifer Berdetta ~ on to $6k! 28.02.08 3

Soulful and jazzy US (NJ) singer.  Has already produced a very good and varied album which makes  a 3-part investment well worthwhile. Relaxed, smooth singing style with the ability to cope with blues, funk, gospel and straight ballads equally well.

Rebecka Haak Rebecka Haak 26.11.07 3
Difficult to pigeonhole, Rebecka brings us dreamy, somewhat melancholy acoustic songs from Sweden, with impeccable string accompaniments. Strongly accented, her voice is reminiscent of Bjork and Julia Marcell, but the material is very much Rebecka Haak's own style. Delicate beauty, in all ways.
Kontrust Kontrust 27.08.07 3

Stunning female vocalist Agata fronts Metallica-style heavy rock/metal music. The result is solidly professional and it is hard to see how the band can fail to gain fans if they work at it. Great beards too (except Agata)!

Dave's a really nice guy who makes jazzy and soulful guitar-based chill out music.  Take him up on his "three parts for an album" offer, as "Proximity" is a superb listen, both aesthetically and technically, with 15 great tracks. He's got a smooth and relaxed singing  style which suits the music perfectly.

I liked Aryn's music as soon as she joined and still believe she is one of the best voices on SAB. For me there are echoes of the young Janis Ian and Linda Ronstadt in her sound and the 3 songs up at this time display the range of Aryn's songwriting and vocal ability perfectly. Go, Aryn!

I think the only reason Phil is making such relatively slow progress is that his music is a bit out of the mainstream, but otherwise there seems no reason why he should not be a hit. Warm accurate phrasing draws you into his intimate and sophisticated lounge jazz/pop. These 3 songs are also some of the cleanest recordings I have come across on SAB.

Tim Bennett appears to have the expressive voice, good looks and songwriting skills to turn himself into a household name with that bit of luck. Although "Blue Sunrise" is brilliant (and grabbing the attention), "New Eyes" is a lovely psychedelia-tinged ballad which personally I marginally prefer. All the tracks here are beautifully produced and make you wonder why Tim isn't already selling millions!

Classy, tight, heavy rock from Poland with memorable tunes. Great riffs and melodies back a ballsy female lead singer in Nina, who can keep it sweet when she needs to. It's old school, but that's what I like about it. 'Fools Carnival' is standout brilliant with a fabulous opening segment harking back to the best that the Ian Gillan Band delivered in its heyday.

Ellie Williams Ellie Williams 07.02.08 30

Ellie is a new and welcome shooting star on Sellaband. A pure, strong voice delivers ballads of both strength and sweetness against dramatic piano and string backing.  The style is almost a throwback to the 80s but with a contemporary freshness.

Ellie should be huge in the US particularly.

Daniel Ward-Murphy Daniel Ward-Murphy 20.06.07 30

Daniel's 'Songs from Soho' recording session more than convinced me of his prodigious songwriting talent; nearly 20 songs, all beautifully constructed, in one enthralling evening. But what has most impressed me seeing Daniel live (twice) is the astonishing power and richness of his voice - he draws you right into his lyrics with passion and subtlety. This man is a top class musician and performer who will make a great Sellaband album.  No-one has earned his success more than Daniel and a nicer guy you could not hope to meet.

Finally top of the pile, his time has come (today?)!

Despite nods to Siouxsie, The Cure et al, Haidee sounds unlike anyone else I have come across. Sensuous and sexy to look at, she somehow converts this into the music, which is dreamy and atmospheric but packs an erotic punch. She is also one of the most determined SAB artists I know, with a clear artistic vision (musically and visually) and a total conviction that it will sell. Success is guaranteed!
Francis Rodino Francis Rodino 18.07.07 15

I have seen Francis live 4 times now and always enjoy his  appearances. Of course he delivers a great rockin' musical performance full of his trademark passion, but he is also a consummate showman, giving us all the moves and adding witty comments in his distinctiive NY twang. He is one of those who "draws you in" to his world. Added to this he now has one of the tighest and most stylish bands you will come across, including the lgendary Tim (of Bim). Finnish singer-songwriter.  Lovely voice singing in Finnish but pronunciation needs work in English.

Oh no, here I go again. I'm a sucker for a lovely female voice and here we have a very good one. Smooth, commercial soft-rock sound fronted by Ozzie Soshannah's clear as water sweet tones.  Sounds a bit like Fleetwood Mac, as she's working in San Francisco now.  One to watch, for sure.

I listened to the songs before reading anything and was not surprised to see Radiohead and Muse cited as influences. I was thinking - a "happier Radiohead".

The songs here are engaging and feature interesting instrumentation, with strong but laid back vocals.

Very nice arrangements, too.

Sanya Budna Sanya Budna 13.05.08
Against a classy, swirling backdrop of ambient sounds (distant horns, dreamy keys, strings and percussion), Sanya delivers some high class laid back lounge jazz, most times conjuring up the feel of a '60s art film score (For Me For Now especially).  It is the slightly exotic edge to her laid back vocals which is the trump card here; Sanya's honeyed and exotic tones evoke many previous classic singers, including for me Eartha Kitt, Marianne Faithfull and even Mari Wilson. Don't know if she will thank me for these comparisons; suffice to say she is a top class performer if these tracks are anything to go by, but I have reverted her to wishlist status until she shows some activity here.

Polish four-piece. Joanna intones warmly and sinuously over chilly electro backing. A striking combination.

Good time melodic hard rockin brings back memories of Van Halen, Judas Priest, Trevor Rabin and Ted Nugent, to name but a few. These guys have what it takes - they can play and sing (always a nice bonus) and above all sound like they're enjoying it.  "Shelter Me" is a radio-friendly workout as already spotted by Talentcast.
esCape (Charles Gosme) esCape (Charles Gosme) 09.03.08

UK Singer-songwriter on a tight budget. Charles says these are rough demos but there's plenty to admire in a good singing voice allied to interesting songs. He kept me engaged at first listening and is definitely working along the right lines.

Young British band reviving electric blues to great effect. Nothing very new here, but this is good time high octane danceable blue rock. The vocalist is solid if a little polite, as my wife put it!
Grassering Grassering 08.12.07
Halfway through Interdit I was hooked on this sound; French dub/metal electronica with a female vocalist - what are the chances?  The dub hypnotises while other rhythms and textures keep things cooking nicely.
Churchill AC Churchill AC 08.12.07

Restrained pop with a hard edge from all-male French group. Good tunes and a singer who can sing.

Porterhouse Porterhouse 08.12.07
Icelandic brother and sister; it seems a guest singer Shay Dillon sings on "Gossip" - the only track up to start with - and definitely has a lovely voice with a little of Chrissy Hynde in it. Tuneful Americana sound to it.
Archangelica Archangelica 08.12.07
Female-fronted heavy rock band (what, another one!) with prog leanings. Strong keyboards and epic feel to the expansive pieces.  old school really, but none the worse for it.
Elli Gray Elli Gray 02.12.07

Gospel and soul tinged ballad from young Portland singer-songwriter. See myspace for other lovely songs.

dECò dECò 02.12.07
All male Italian quartet (vocals, guitar, bass, drums - not be confused with the UK's Deco) produce beautiful ringing, echo tinged pop ballads with (to this ear) a wistful vocal style vaguely reminiscent of Morrissey fronting The Smiths.
Spitfire Spitfire 02.12.07
Italy-based rock band. Their song "My Drug is Rock and Roll" is a cracking 3-minute Rolling Stones style guitar work out; not so sure about the other material.
Another Day Another Day 18.11.07
Yet another strong entry from Poland and nother trademark sound for me - strong female vocals set to interesting rock backing with a nice jazzy bass sound.
Appleseed Appleseed 04.10.07
Dormant (on SAB) progrock outfit citing Pink Floyd and original King Crimson as influences. Quite heavy but at the same time psychedelic.
artic circle artic circle 21.11.07
Relaxing ambient dance music from Portugal, not so far from Travellers sound but with a more jazzy flavour - guitar on Stand By could have come straight from a Bruford track.
AUDREY & THE COOKIES AUDREY & THE COOKIES 18.11.07
No sign of Audrey but very engaging ballads from all male French outfit. Need to relisten.
Bradley's Circus Bradley's Circus 25.10.07

Smokin' blues-based group with a terrific (and great-looking) female front line of vocals and mouth harp. They kick up a storm with their energy-fuelled original but authentic-sounding material.

Casper is a guitar virtuoso reminiscent (to this listener) of the UK's Bert Jansch and he seems to acquire the services of female vocalists with stunning looks and voices!  Both Maaike and Sheila have strong but sensuous voices and jazz sensibilities perfect for delivering distinctive and expressive ballads.  There is some 60s West Coast feel to the lyrics.

Another Polish solo singer. The recordings are basic but there is no doubting Evelka has a beautiful voice and her songs in both English and Polish are well constructed pop ballads.

One woman and her gnome. Is she mad? The Fuck Off Song is hard to ignore, but there's more to this woman than one novelty number.  She has a talent for writing memorable tunes and looks that could kill.
frantic frantic 25.06.07
Good solid commercial pop rock fronted by pure, expressive male vocals. The melodic backing has depth and colour and the songs are varied and catchy.  It's hard to see why they have attracted so little interest on SAB thus far, but they do need to engage with SAB by blogging and making offers to attract believers. I'll hold off until I see whether they have the will to succeed.
The glo The glo 12.07.07

This is engaging melodic heavy rock, with a convincing gravel-voiced frontman vaguely reminiscent of a tuneful Lemmy! Check out again later.

Grand Casino Grand Casino 11.10.07
Pschedelia-tinged electro-pop/rock from Belgian quartet. Multi-layered washes of guitar and electronic sounds fronted by relaxed male vocalists. Strong, varied songs and beautiful use of the stereo stage. Vaguely reminiscent of Beatles, Scissor Sisters, Squeeze, King Creosote and many more.

They sound like 70s outfits like The Band, Neil Young etc but that's no bad thing. Great guitar work and harmonies. Need to see more info and songs before jumping in.
Haunted Candy Shop Haunted Candy Shop 12.11.07
Great name, great music. The group plays wonderfully, producing rich textured soundscapes on a hugely interesting selection of acoustic and electric instruments. The result is an atmospheric world which takes you right out of yourself. Maxime's vocal style is perfect for the material - emotive and flexible.
