It's been a while since I wrote something in this blog. Not that I didn't have any thoughts or experiences on SAB, but I didn't have any inspiration to put them in writing.

This week a very active member on SAB left SAB. I'm talking about Isca.

He was one of the bigger believers on SAB and he was quite active on yhe forum. And although I didn't agree with his postings all the time, I respected his contributions much.

Isca left SAB for several reasons, but one of his reasons is keeping me busy too. Several artists are complaining on the forum that they want to be informed by believers who pull out parts from the artists account. And allthough I can imagine artists want to know why someone withdraws parts it's total rubish that they (sort of) demand an explanation from the withdrawing believer.

I've pulled out parts, without noticing them, from several artists in the past, and I'm sure it will happen in the future. Main reason for pulling back parts for me is total inactivity of the artist. If an artist is inactive for a certain period (a couple of months) I asume this artist is not interested in SAB as a concept and in me as a believer anymore and so I take out my parts and invest in another artist that is more active on SAB. No activity from an artist means no activity from me too.

I put in real money when I buy a part and the least thing I expect to get for that money is a CD (within a reasonable time, let's say 2 year). I don't have to make some profit on SAB, I just want some music. Inactive artists will never make $50k, so they will never deliver and I don't support these artists.

Today I had some bad experience with Pieps. He wrote on the forum that he's giving a d#mn on morality and that he will not make the best album he can, because of the publishing rights issue. Pieps is not the only artist on SAB behaving like this. There are some others, but I think it's a minority so I keep out of their way and keep believing in the real SAB-artists.

It's a shame that there are artists who try to raise money on SAB, who are noth wiling to give their believers the best they have. In most cases the artists on SAB are at a starting point in their professional career. The believers try to help these artists to raise them to a higher level. The only thing (most (I think, and I hope) believers want to see in return is that artist giving them the best they have. No artist should keep the best material they have behind and put 2nd rate songs on the SAB CD.

Artists who admit they will act so, should be removed from SAB as soon as possible. Better artist who make such an album should pay back the $50k to all their believers. They have not done what the believers expected of them.

I did not have inspiration and time this week to write something in my blog.

Today Vegas Dragons reached $50k. Congratulations VD, but most congrats to Brian who has done so much work at SAB.

Tried to follow the progres of VD parts today at work, together with Hans-R

At works it isn't possible to join the chat so we could only follow how many parts were sold. When I left work there were about 190 parts to go. When I came home they were all sold. Great job VD. Hope you make a great CD.

No inspiration today. Busy working something out for my work, helping Tillip with her homework, reading the Sellaband Tribune and filling in the Sellaband poll I saw when I entered the SAB site.

Not so many thoughts about SAB things today. Interesting topic in the forum today "my-thoughts-on-the-sellaband-c oncept". Believers and artists talking about $0-believers, stopping with making leCD's etc.

I'm absolute against $0-believers. SAB is a community from people who "put their money where their mouth is". So if you want to be part of SAB, you have to spend some money. $0 believers are people who say they are fans of an artist, but who are not willing to pay for the artists product. Not real fans I think.

This morning I checked the forum and saw two very interesting postings from Johan V. "Why are you a believer" and "Why are you, the artist here on SAB"

I'm specialy interested in the reasons why the artists are here. I'm gonna watch this item close and the artists answers can make me decide you buy or pull back parts. I think I will come back to this topic in a later addition in this blog.

When I checked the profile of Lucia Iman this morning I saw "PP" had withdrawn his last 50 parts in Lucia also. He took 50 parts back a couple of weeks ago and now took back his final 50. Both times he added these parts to Solitube.  Solitube be aware of this believer, it seems you can't trust him. I must say I do not have any respect for believers like "PP". Okay it's his right to pull back parts from an artist, but if you invested 100 parts in an artist and pull all of them back later you must have some kind of brain damage. For me it's impossible that someone first strongly believes in an artist and then finds out he doesn't like that music at all.

I hope "PP" has informed Lucia of the whereabouts of his decision to pull back his parts.

Today there was some good news from Lucia Iman. She made it to the final 20 bands on the Amiestreet competition. Cubworld and Wetwerks also made it to the last 20. So there are 3 Sellaband artist in the final 20. And it are 3 of the best.

Now a jury will decide which 5 bands make it to the last 5. It would be great for both artists but also for SAB if both of them would be in these final 5.

As a big fan of Lucia I hope she makes it to the final 5. I think she deserves it. After a quick start at SAB, she's now slowed down a bit and there have been some withdrawels of parts lately. It's impossible to say why people withdraw their parts from an artist like Lucia. She's quite active on SAB, she has a great voice, makes good music and is very nice. Maybe some believers think it's taking to long before she reaches $50k, but when you withdraw parts it only takes longer. I've also noticed that some believers took back their parts because they left SAB, at least they don't have parts anymore in whatever artist. This is also a pitty, for them, for the artist(s) they were believing in and for the SAB-community.

This morning I read in the forum that Clemence and Mandyleigh have pulled back their recording of Sellabration from the Fabchannel. Besides that Nemesea did not give permission to publish their concert at all.

Poor sound quality should be the reason.

I've dual thoughts about this subject. On one hand I think an artist has the right to withdraw anything from the internet he/she likes, on the other hand Sellabration was at least partialy funded by SAB and the believers and so the believers should have some rights to. Fabchannel is an open site where everyone with internet access can go to and have a listen and look. So if an artist decides that a performance should not be general available it's oke with me. I think the gigs should be available for believers. So if not on Fabchannel, than at least to part-holding believers via their profile or better for all believers once they logged on to SAB.

I'm not a big writer and so I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep this blog filled with news and thoughts for a long time, but I'll give it a try.

Yesterday I read the open letter Clemence wrote in the Sellaband Tribute.

There was a lot of discussion going on on the forum about Clemence making a complete English album for SAB. A lot of believers (including me) where not happy with the thought that Clemence would do a complete English album. A couple of English songs oke, but not singing in French at all was not what we expected and wanted. Of course there were also believers who were happy about an English album, but I think most believers liked a French or mixed French/English album more.

I think Clemences performances in London as well in Amsterdam in English were poor. I was missing the emotion you can hear in her voice when she sings in French. And although my French is very poor ("papa fumes une pipe" - "father smokes a pipe" is probably the only complete sentence I can say in French) I more like a song which I cannot understand, but where I feel the emotion, than a song which I can understand and don't feel any emotion.

You can imagine I was quite happy when I read the Tribune and found out Clemence will do some English songs and some French songs. I'm sure this album will be great to listen to and can use my 10 Clemence albums to promote Sellaband with pride at my friends.
