Julia Marcell at Soundverb Studio (09-09-2007 )

From the 10th till the 14th of September Julia Marcell will be visiting Soundverb Studio to work on some new songs and arrangements.

Radius & Nemesea at Concert at Sea (20-06-2007)
Radius & Nemesea will both be performing for over 55.000 people.
Radius, one of the bands I'm currently producing, won a Nieuwe Revu (a dutch magazine) & Sellaband contest to appear on one of Holland's largest festivals, Concert at Sea. Over 55.000 tickets are sold already. Nemesea will also be performing on the same festival, so with those two acts on the same stage, there's probably gonna be a serious portion of Rock going on there !

Nemesea's album 'In Control' mixed at Galaxy Studio (02-06-2007)
The last two weeks of May 2007 I spent at Galaxy Studio, (Mol, Belgium ) to finish Nemesea's Sellaband album. While Ronald Prent was mixing the album, I worked on finishing the sounddesign and programming for the album, together with HJ (Nemesea's guitarist, with whom I produced the album) . The Galaxy is one of Europe's (and probably one of the World's) finest studios, and being there for almost two weeks was great fun. On of the unique aspects of the API console Ronald works on is the fact the he can mix in stereo and surround simultaneously, so the whole album was mixed in surround too. Ronald Prent did a really good job mixing the album, and we're very happy with the way it all turned out !

Guitar recordings finished (19-05-2007)
The Nemesea guitar recordings were finished at Studio Spitsbergen. We used a combination of Engl Invader, Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier, Sansamp & POD sounds to get the guitar sound we were looking for. While recording we also recorded a clean (DI) signal so we could send the guitar signal to the amps afterwards (reamping) to be able to really focus on the sound and find the combination that would work with all the keyboard sounds (and bass & vocal ofcourse) that also occupy the mix.

Tony Platt at Studio Spitsbergen (23-04-2007)
Tony Platt (UK) spent two weeks at Studio Spitsbergen to produce lead vocals for Nemesea. I engineered the sessions and learned a lot from spending two weeks with veteran producer/engineer Tony Platt, who's resume lists AC/DC, Bob Marley, Iron Maiden, Gary Moore etc. Some great vocals were recorded, and everything really comes to life now.

Nemesea currently recording (09-04-2007)
It's been really busy these past few months at Soundverb Studio & Studio Spitsbergen, so it took a little longer than expected to update this blog again...
February 2007, we finished the pre-production, in which we tried out the songs & arrangements HJ & I have been working on.
March 2007, the recordings of the drums & bass for Nemesea's Sellaband album (sellaband.com/nemesea) were completed at Studio Spitsbergen. A serious amount of wood was chopped up by their drummer and several Music Man basses were harmed during the process, but the recordings sound pretty good, also according to the people who've had a preview. Among them Ronald Prent (Galaxy Studio) who came to visit Studio Spitsbergen to listen to the progress and discuss some technical stuff (and some less technical stuff too...), to make sure the mixing process at Galaxy will go as smoothly as possible.
HJ (Nemesea's guitarist/songwriter) and I also visited Ronald Molendijk (DJ/producer) to work on the sounddesign of the keyboard sounds.
Yesterday, sunday 9th of April 2007, producer Tony Platt (UK, www.platinumtones.com) arrived at Studio Spitsbergen for a two week stay, to do the production of the lead vocal recordings. Two very interesting weeks are coming up probably, so I'll keep you updated !

Dream team completed (28-01-2007)
Nemesea completed their list of people working on their album. Producer/engineer Ronald Prent (LacunaCoil, Manowar, Rammstein, Kane) is being lined up to mix the completed tracks at Galaxy Studios in Belgium, while Tony Platt (AC/DC, Bob Marley, Iron Maiden) will be brought over from the UK to produce Nemesea’s vocalist Manda Ophuis’ at Studio Spitsbergen. This facility, which is my home base, will also be the location for the rest of the recording sessions. I will be producing the record together with Nemesea’s guitarist HJ and I will also do the engineering for the album. To give the new songs an innovative sound and direction of their own, Soulvation’s DJ/producer Ronald Molendijk will create the digital sound designs for each song in his studio Soul Cave.

London (10-01-2007)
I went to London on 3/4/5th of January 2007 with Nemesea's HJ. We met with A&R for the Nemesea project, Adam Sieff and several producers, to complete the line-up of people collaborating on the Album.

Radius mixing (01-01-2007)
I am currently mixing 3 songs for a EP which will be released prior to their forthcoming album (2007).

Nemesea songwriting (01-01-2007)
I'm currently co-writing with Nemesea guitar player HJ to produce tracks for the forthcoming Nemesea album.

A big warm hello!

and just a note to tell you that I have a new song I would love you to hear. It is a crazy, revved up remix of my serene "Angel" and completely different from the original. It is totally unusual for me too - like a happy accident really, but very sensuous with exotic notes of the orient and I really wanted to share it here. It will add spice to a great night out on the town or make you want to dance with someone real close. Or at least that's what it makes me feel, so I thought I'd play it for you. It was born out of too many late nights of passionate brainstorming in the studio. So please listen for yourself and let me know what you think. if you like it jump on board and i will give you the song to have for your own '-)

peace, love and music
