Hello, we are Cartoon. We make music that we like, and we know you'll like it too.

We are:

Greg Hoffman (Piano/Vocals)
Tim Wood (Guitar/Cello/Vocals)
Bryan Dahl (Synth/Vocals)
Jonny Eccles (Engineering/Bass Guitar)
Niko Reid (Drums/Percussion)
Alex Kopel (Drums/Percussion)

So, you want a bio? I'll give you a bio. It all started in 1999, when Greg and Tim became close friends in high school. They were both classically-trained musicians with rock aspirations, and soon they abandoned their Chopin and Mozart roots for bargain rock instruments and self-training. "Moxy," their first band, seldom practiced and performed even less; their subsequent project, "SubVerse," achieved its crowning moment when they came in second place in a Battle of the Bands. But we still had fans all along the way, and we found out that people liked what we were doing. But eventually, all teen angst and insecurities come to an end: in order to educate themselves and get a reputable piece of paper, Greg left for Berkeley and Tim left for Stanford, and things were relatively quiet for a bit.

Sure enough, despite parting their separate ways, the desire to rock still raged within them like an unchecked venereal disease. In 2004, Greg introduced Tim to his friend Bryan, and together they made some sloppy, dingy recordings in an even sloppier and dingier basement. But something grew from that basement, and it wasn't just the fungus or Greg's illegitimate offspring. The three of them knew they were on to something, and at that point, the foundation of Cartoon was born.

In 2006, with the end of their college years quickly approaching, it came time to reexamine their options. Somehow, rocking out looked a bit more attractive than their investment banking and McDonald's alternatives, and so they set out to record a demo. Here's where you've all come in. Like us, people have been digging our music, and our aspiration is to keep making it. We're still figuring ourselves out, and we're more than happy to talk to you about any of the songs if you have questions or criticism. We also hope you keep touch along the way and where this takes us all.

Thanks for listening, and we hope you enjoy our music. We are Cartoon.

Howdy!

Just wanted to pop in and give you a heads up on Sommersby's October Competition!

If you haven't already heard, the competition (hot on the heels of his recent neck-in-neck September fiesta) will offer 20 parts for the winner and is open to all artists that have between $9999 and $0 in budget.

Please check the forum for updates on contest rules and regs….starts 25 October!

This is a great opportunity for you. Campaign with the believers to let them know you'd like to be nominated and encourage them to vote for you when the time comes.

Of course, if you'd like to, or you know someone who would like to, donate parts for the prizes in the Competition, just send (or have them send) Sommersby the details under a message marked “October Donation."

Hope you join in on the fun and GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!

Hi Cartoon,
I really love the piano in your songs. Especially mouthfull is a beautiful song. Hope you don't mind the comparison but I hear some similarity with Ben Folds. Are you influenced by him?

Hi Tim!

I guess you'll always be my Starbucks-sweetheart , but for the Saturday Evening I'm looking for different company. Bloodtype: Dance/Indierock. Your uptempo songs don't comply with my personal taste, wich has absolutely NOTHING to do with the quality of the song. The very best, Dolly

Hi Cartoon, We sing in English because we just love this tongue and beause we believe it is better suited to rock! I hope you like it. Anyways, we are also working on some new stuff in French.
Cheers,
Emmanuel
