I'd like to take a moment to thank all of you here at Sellaband who have stopped by CP's page and generously become a "Believer" -

It means alot to me that you would believe in a band that is completely new to you.
I would also like to thank all of you who have commented with positive reinforcement - all constructive comments are helpful.

I would like to share my biggest obstacle with regards to reaching my 50K:

I've been very fortunate to have acquired many admirers on my social networking websites (Myspace, Trig, Vampirefreaks.) since CRY PANDORA was first presented to the public in early 2006.

I'm noticing that when people visit my Sellaband page they are commenting that I'd be lucky if a small percentage from those networks are willing to pay the $10. Let me explain what has been happening since i've signed up with Sellaband.

Shortly after signing up CP with sellaband I sent mass bulletins and messages through all my networks. Within a period of about 4 hours I received 32 messages from fans who wanted to know "where to send their $10". The large majority of my fan following are between the ages of 12 and 24. Of these large majorities very little own credit cards or have a paypal account. Therefore, after telling them that they would have to get a paypal account because they could not send a money order, cheque or cash they became discouraged with how to contribute their "money", so to say.
If anyone has any suggestions how to get about this - i'm all ears! Thanks!

If you're read up to this point I congratulate you, there is plenty to be said.

Secondly, as i mentioned about my target market and fan following above, it is the 'younger' generation that are interested in my music. Sellaband is set up in a way that is understood much easier from an older group (25+). The concept of buying a share/part in a product/company is too complicated and confusing for a younger group. How do i get my younger listeners to understand the concept without losing them? I thought for hours, actually for a complete day about this and the only way I could see to catch their interest is to simplify everything right down to a different 'wording' about how Sellaband operates:
Rather than say:

"Buy a part in a future product" - I am wording it in this fashion:
"Pre-order CRY PANDORA's upcoming album"
To me it seems a little misleading because that "upcoming album" could take 12 months to produce. I'd be interested in your comments about this.

I've been a musician for 20 years and have been very succesful in past musical endeavors I have no doubt that CP will be succesful. I don't believe it's an "If"-factor but rather a "When"-factor. I Believe 200% in this project and I invest my heart, mind, body and soul into my art. I hope you will see my vision and also believe in my dream.
Best wishes!
Guy La Rocque

Thanks for dropping by: I like what I hear :) Also read your blog with interesting questions. Maybe it is an idea to put some of your questions about getting younger people interested in SAB on the Forum?

Hi,

Thanks for the invitation to listen.

I think that your music is very interesting but I really don't like the vocals at all. Whilst this approach would work fine if only used to best effect where needed and was contrasted with singing that could let the lyrics come through, it just becomes (for me) un-listenable after a very short time.

Sorry - just not my cup of tea!

Good marketing approach though and I wish you well - let's see if you can get a quarter of those 20,000 friends to sign up!

Best,

Tony
