With ringing clear vocals and message sung overtop arpeggiated piano and catchy guitar tunes, clarity could be considered the essence of Danielle Oliver's art. Songs such as "Sweet Sacrifice, "Adrienne, "and the folky "Little Girl," evoke a strong sense of emotion and what it means to be true to oneself, while the new ballad "Marks" and "The Old Oak Tree" bring a more playful mood to the stage. Highly metaphorical and imaginary, the master message comes through quite clear; what women (and men alike) expect for themselves in this society is precisely what they will get. Be true to yourself, not anyone else. Born and raised in the quaint ski town Whitefish, Montana, Danielle grew up in the wilderness of Glacier National Park, where she developed a love for nature. With her Austrian mother, she traveled often to Europe and was exposed to great composers, operettas, and show tunes. Starting piano at age six and guitar at eighteen, she has been singing her entire life- childhood duets at church, performing at local functions for her school and community. Later, she began studying voice under instructors such as LA's Vicki Lavan, and the renowned Doug Hines based iin Vienna. Danielle's songrwriting began as a child, but she didn't continue the aspiration until high school. This sparked a time of burial into songwriting, performing, and participating in pageants. Coming to California to attend Pepperdine University, she made it through her first year just as a shock brought her back to the piano. Songs like "Adrienne, and "Beautiful Listening" were basically born out of grief over her father's death in 2002. Following was a spiral of somatizing and serious medical conditions which shaped her into a very different and sometimes very critical person. In her new mold, she returned to school. Studying classical music became frustrating so she left the program and decided her music was meaningful in its own right. Since, she has been following her passion for songwriting and performing whole-heartedly. This is her life- music, and she hopes to evoke drastic change today. Keep women, women, despite outside forces. Her passion for her art and personal experience radiate in an attempt to touch listeners. See her live at many LA venues including Room 5, Genghis Cohen, Key Club, Tangier, and more... BelieversComments
