Latest Blog news from DAVEY

Have I been a bit quiet? Eh, wossat, who said that? Hell, no and well, yes maybe. I don't know anymore. Not content with organising a humdinger of a gig on Sun 3rd Feb with Julia Marcell, Kaitee Page, Rebecak Haak, Cris Tanzi, Clem and my band Rox Clayton Scott. I have been perhaps wallowing in a deep sense of organisational pride that the whole thing didn't crack under the sheer weight of instrumentation and actually went extraordinarily well. So well in fact that I'm gonna do another one on SUNDAY 11th MAY, also at 229 The Venue. It was a great night. Thanks to all involved. Especially Sellaband's Kev T and Richard Markham (who brought Pete Meade Photographer).

ALBUM NEWS

I am pushing for $2k so any spare change would be most appreciated. I have finished writing new songs, 'Rachel', 'To Die For' and 'Island Rain' at least one of these will be finished in demo form as an incentive to get to the $2k mark.

This week I got a very generous offer from a great mate of mine, Chris Wong, who has just spent the last month in Seattle with Toyah Willcox and Bill from REM. He has a new band out called The Humans (yeah I know great name - why hasn't it been done?). Anyway Chris and I worked on the Rox Clayton Scott stuff together and we also gig regularly in the Love Junkies. Chris offered his musical abilities for my new album, I am over the moon as he is a player, I mean anything - he is versatile and sure to be a great asset to the project.

REVIEWS

From Adam's Apple: "Rox Clayton Scott’s guitar player emerges as an artist in his own right with three songs from his own project. Tasteful throughout with excellent guitars and a surprisingly pleasant vocal personality. Engaging and professional - should find plenty of supporters here."

BIOGRAPHY
Hi and welcome. I am a Guitarist/ Vocalist from London.

Formerly with my group Otis and currently also with RoxClaytonScott band. I am looking for backing to complete my first solo album project. I have uploaded 3 songs that are very special to me. Hope you can take a moment to listen. I am really excited by Sellaband and think it is a great idea. NOW FOR THE HARD WORK!

MySpace http://www.myspace.com/davepatrickmusic

Also checkout: http://www.myspace.com/roxclaytonscott (Currently involved with the RoxClaytonScott band)

About the songs
Proximity originally featured on the Otis album 'Proximity' and is a taster of where I am looking for things to be headed with the new project. Lots of intense moody guitar, layered over simple keys and drum loops with a doubled vocal effect, this song and its lyrical concept are just about creating a haunting and deep listening experience.

Strong is kind of a trip. Laid-back trip-hop acoustic vibe... with a spoken vocal in the verse. Now available at the myspace page only.

Aramea is a demo. Brand new. It is not produced in anyway shape or form, 'cept to get rough levels by me. It's part of my the demos I'm producing for my new album. I include it here to get some feedback from SAB'rs and give a direction on where I'm going.
Proximity is ace. I am very proud of it and I want as many people as possible to hear it.
Rising Tide is something I did a while back with a great couple of guys Simon Burges and John Meares (Keys), as part of the band Otis.

APR 26: Greetings from DavePatrickworld.

I've had a difficult time of it recently, what with 2 weeks holiday in Barbados, so as you can imagine I'm feeling pretty stressed right now. Anyway good to be back, reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated!

New music: I've just uploaded a new tune 'Stop the World' for your attention. Please have a little listen.

Other stuff...let me fill you in on what's been happening.

Collaboration. Clem and I have been jamming together for the last 4 weeks (apart from my holiday) and we've been writing some great stuff. It feels really good and I really hope that we will have something to play to you real soon. We don't know where this thing is going to lead but we already have 5 or 6 tracks. Also, Jess King has been working with me on a track, and so has Annie Bacon, but as it is the collaboration project it may or may not come off. We shall see, but it is exciting.

Gig cancellation: Some of you will know I have been behind the Sellagig Sunday 11th May. The first gig we did was great but ticket sales were still pretty poor. Anyway, to cut a long story short, a number of circumstances have conspired against the organisation of this event up to the point that I feel it is no longer viable. In particular our main Sellaband $50k star Ellie Williams dropped out on us the other day. This coupled with very poor ticket sales have left me no other option. Sorry about that...!

I am still on the journey to $2k although it has been a little slow of late. Anyway I understand why certain people have removed their parts, I hope to be able to replace these soon with new believers.

Best for now
Dave

(ALL I WANT IS TO) COME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

Written by Dave Patrick

I look out, it’s frozen, a chill wind drives around me

As usual the papers all tout their celebrity leads

Controversy rages, I flick through the daily headlines

I stop on a story, a neat allegory, a young man at Christmas time

He’d wanted to travel, a tale to unravel in time

Of how his great Grandad had died in the great war at Yuletide

He’d heard of the hell, the guns and shelling they faced

His letters back home, and his young wife alone, his thoughts they were written in haste

CHORUS

All I want is to come home for Christmas

To be with the ones I love

I carry the hope that at Christmas

I’ll hold on now and never give up…

The notes he’d written, a great love so smitten, to tell

They found in his diary, he’d kept by his side as he fell

This war is so chilling, bloodshed and killing, it's not right

We all take our chances, through dire circumstances, this is no fight, it’s a blight on us all

All I want is to come home for Christmas

To be with the ones I love

I carry the hope that at Christmas

I’ll hold on now and never give up…

MIDDLE 8

Simple pleasures, take new meanings

When you’re in a spot

My heart measures, above all else

So be thankful for what you have got

Tired and cold the young boy arrived at the field

As the light slowly faded, his Yuletide fate was revealed

He'd wanted to come back for Christmas

To be with the ones that he loved

A hope and a prayer that for Christmas

He’d get back home, he never gave up

As I sat enchanted, and thought for a while about home

Things taken for granted, in truth they are never your own

What matters is honesty, lose all that vanity

Truth, love and courage and grace under fire

And love born from tragedy, can’t stop what’s meant to be

Heart’s that are full with desire

I finished my paper that Christmas

My thought turned to those that I love

To those that have given, it just takes a minute

To look back, remember their love

Firstly, a note about the production of this song. I am not a producer but I have given this my 'best shot'. Also just so you are aware, some of the instrumentation is perhaps not as good as it could be or recorded as beautifully, but then I wanted to get the song into the competition rather than tweaking and tweaking - all musicians will be familiar with this dichotomy!

I recorded, programmed and arranged the entire song on my iMac using Logic Audio and Garageband during the third week of Nov 2007.

Good luck one and all. Thanks to Atsuo for requesting these. Cheers.

DP.

DEC 14: I am just over the moon to have hit $1,500 and I would like to especially thank Steve French and Kev Taverner who's most recent donations took me there. So many thanks guys I owe you one (or 14 to be exact)! Also a big thanks to everyone else who has helped me get to this wonderful Christmas milestone - and 11 days before Christmas too.

Just wanted to let you know that I have put up a new song for your listening pleasure 'Fall For You'. It is an acoustic ballad about falling in love with the wrong person at the wrong time. We've all done it, yes, you as well, come on own up! Anyway, please take a listen.

My song 'Come Home For Christmas' is doing well with 239 plays (it was already at 100 before I put up a new edit). I needn't remind you that there is a certain Christmas competition coming up... if you feel the song is good enough to lend your support to, please vote for me. Ta!

DEC 7: Just done a new mix of 'Come Home For Christmas'. Few reasons, I felt that the original start of the song detracted rather than enhanced. Also, the backing vocals were way too quiet. Having sat with it for a few weeks I am happier with this new mix as it captures more of the spirit I was looking for. However, can I record the song count here as 100 when the old version was taken off.

DEC 6: Er, HELLO. I am here and busy. You know what it's like to the run up for Christmas(!) It would be the best pressie to get up to $1,500 by Christmas day and if you can help me with this I will be eternally grateful. I will send you a Dave Patrick MP3 'Back on my Feet' (which is not like Back to the Start). Ho, ho, ho. May the festive spirit seize ya...

DEC 3: Just signing in as I've been away all weekend in Exeter, Devon. Nice to see the Christmas competition hotting up, all very festive! Thanks to Noldi, Sommersby and Lorenz for the top up. I will stop by with a new bulletin soon. Don't forget if you've got 3 parts in me please send me your address and I'll send you a free CD. VOTE FOR ROX CLAYTON SCOTT IN THE CHRISTMAS COMPETITION.

NOV 22: Lyrics for the Christmas song - After a sensible request by Atsuo I am happy to post mine below...

NOV 21: New Christmas Song/ New Video Blog
Sheesh, it's all happening at once. Whew...!

Firstly, I am really pleased to formally upload my entry to the Sommersby Christmas Competition. The song is called 'Come Home For Christmas'. It is something I have especially written for this competition. I have been labouring away in a hot studio (okay, actually quite a cold studio), slaving over my Manson guitar and Fender Strat, plucking my trustee and incredibly dog-eared Bass geetar, squeezing the most out of my vocal compressor (probably too much) too bring you all this mix.

I am really glad to have 'shoe-horned' the word Christmas into the title, but I still might yet call it 'All I Want is to Come Home For Christmas' as this will probably bust all the Sellaband player lists. Actually, getting a bit ahead of myself there. Hopefully it will bust all the Sellaband player titles in the lists, if people list me :)

Anyway the song is about all that standard Christmas fodder 'death, war, love, honesty, adventure, travel, oh and Christmas with your loved ones'. Lyrically, I took the theme from Jona Lewie's 'Stop the Cavalry' (Okay, I only borrowed the bit about the war). I perhaps should have also put in the 'bub-a-bub-a-bum-bum, bub-a-bub-a-bum, bub-a-bum bum, bub-a-bum, bub-a-bub-a-bum' bit? Nah, I don't think so either, s'been done.

Speaking of fine-lines, I hope I've managed to capture the right side of the Christmas single line, i.e. more classic than cheese. Have I? Oh god, have I? Is my musical integrity still intact? Just what am I letting myself in for? Is it too late to back down? Aarrgh.

Like I said before in this forum, I never did manage to find a word to rhyme with Christmas, apart from Christmas and I hope the song is all the better for it! Anyway, please stop on over and take a listen.

Also, for the first time ever, I have managed to squeeze out a little video blog. It features me in my studio, nervously prattling on in front of a badly concealed microphone, eyes darting all over the shop, never quite getting centre of picture, drinking tea and waving my newborn son, Ben around!

Anyway, the 4 mins of video blog (yes it's time that you'll never get back if you watch) features just a short message from yours truly letting you know what I've been up to. It doesn't feature me seductively sipping a large glass of red wine on my bed - Kaitee has that niche covered LOL - rather it features a silly man wearing a rather stupid hat, not quite pulling off Damian Gough.

And on that note...

-----------------------------------------------------------------
NOV 19: Big Blog - lots of news
$1,000 REACHED!!! - I've reached this milestone and my thanks to all of you. I had a party to celebrate (well, me and a can of John Smiths - I am a responsible Father now), anyway it was ace, I am over the moon. Thank you, thank you. Special mention to Ed the Cheesehead who took me there.

New Christmas Song - a collaboration with Rox Clayton Scott
So Long (Heartache) is now available in Rox's player. This song was written by Rox, myself and Marcus & Chris from the RCS Band. It has some nice guitar if I do say so myself ;) very pleased to be able to share this.

I can also confirm that I will be taking part in Sommersby's Christmas song competition. I have written something new especially for this, so watch out for my posting in the next couple of days.

New song 'Back to the Start' - Freshen up, freshen up. Rising Tide has gone from my profile (sniff) and been replaced with this lovely little ditty (hurrah). Please come and have a listen.

Sellagig Sunday 3rd Feb - you may have heard on the grapevine that I have been organising a Sellaband artists gig. Well, it's true! I have been co-ercing, er, working my venue manager in colleague to get full use of 229 The Venue, opposite Great Portland Street in London. The line-up features (amongst myself) Rox Clayton Scott, Rebecka Haak, Kaitee Page, Julia Marcell (provisional - keep this under your hat - will know on 23rd Nov), Cris Tanzi. Clem and Dela Fin. I am organising this with me'old mate Splodger he's been up to his old tricks again. D'oh!

Tickets will be available online and I will be producing some publicity for the event soon. In the meantime, please hold the date if you can come, if not please help me promote and support the event over the coming months. I am proud to be involved and am very excited. Thanks to Rebecka Haak and Phil (that man again) Sommersby for kick-starting it all.

What I Meant To Say CD Album by ROX - I can confirm that Rox's new album is now finished. I have a writing and playing track on every song and have been close to this all the way through so I am over the moon. In fact I took the master and the artwork personally down to Repeat Performance CD manufacturers in London last Tuesday - to make sure it was despatched in time for Christmas. The CD package itself is a lovely 12-page booklet in one of those new Sony Super CD Jewel boxes. Splendid. You can get more info on this on roxclaytonscott.com (but please give me a few days to update this site as I am the only bugger who knows how to do it!)

CD's - I've mailed out loads of CDs in the past 2 weeks. So if you haven't received yours by now then send me a snotty e-mail quick. If you have, then I'm glad. Let me know what you think and remember, I am building on this musical menagerie from 'Otis days' and will do so much more on my own now!! I have been writing and arranging a large amount of stuff recently. Up to about 20 tracks now for my new solo album which you are all helping to fund.

Anyway, all the best for now. Thank you, thank you, thank you. All aboard for the next milestone of $2k (I can hardly believe it)

All the best
Dave (not to be mixed up with that Christian rocker on iTunes) Patrick
I'm agnostic if you must ask, but please I haven't got time for that right now ;-)

Finally, Don't forget if you have invested 3 or more parts in me, I will send you a CD 'Proximity' gratis. Just PM me your address. (yes, it was 2 parts for a while but I must be getting greedy ;-) This offer is backdated so it doesn't matter when you put in the parts.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
NOV 13: $1,000 *** $1,000 *** $1,000 *** $1,000
Woo Hoo (Cue Homer Simpson comedy dancing round the room). Thank you, thank you, thank you. Mr Ed the Cheeshead takes the prize for pushing me over. Brilliant.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
NOV 12: Christmas Songs. We've just published the song So Long Heartache (Late December) on Rox's profile page here. Please check it out. The song features myself on guitar and I also have a writing credit on the track. I have written a original Christmas song also, which I will try and get finished shortly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
NOV 8: It's all happening. I've suddenly found myself organising a Sellaband show at 229 The Venue on Sunday 3rd Feb. Thanks to Rebecka and Sommersby for stitching me up on that one, ha! ;-) Seriously it's a pleasure guys. I have pulled some strings, got a great venue (www.229thevenue.co.uk) and already got confirms and interest from 5 great Sellaband artists including, Rox Clayton Scott, Rebecka Haak, Cris Tanzi, Kaitee Page and Clem. The event will be free admission, format to be decided but expect that each artist will do a 30min set. Provisional opening from 7.30 pm - Midnight.

NOV 7: Edging towards the $1k. Thanks to new believers Matt Markham and Hoggdaddee.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
NOV 6: #18 in the CHARTS. It's been a great week, in fact in the last 7 days I've managed to gain another 6 new believers. I am over the moon.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
OCT 30: 'Proximity' about to hit 300 plays.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
OCT 29: I've had an amazing amount of goodwill messages on the birth of baby Ben. Thank you, thank you. Both Caro and Ben are doing fine. It's lovely to have a baby boy.

I've been out canvassing in my new push towards the $1k. If you are one of those believers, forgive me if I seem like I've got the old begging bowl out but I need to push up the effort to get to my next milestone. I found at least 20 believers that had wish-listed me and just asked if they were prepared to help me get there. I hope for a positive response. You can only try can't you...! To those great people who already have parts in me. Thank you. Fancy putting in a little more, it would be much appreciated. Night. Dave.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

OCT 27: Added a new video. Myself with Toyah at Portsmouth Guildhall.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

OCT 24: I'm afraid my strategy for Sommersby's October competition will have to take a back seat now following the birth on Monday of my son, Ben. Mum and baby are doing well and I am beaming!
Just so you know my campaign was really gonna be great. It involved everything, leaflets, flyers, aeroplane banners, TV ads, YouTube virals and radio jingles.
Damn, those competition parts were nearly in the bag!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
OCT 22: Why do I feel like an out and out Spammer when I go out and trawl through the SAB Believers? Everybody does it. Some more succesfully than others(!) I suppose it is the equivalent of going out and selling 'your wares' ahem. People have been knocked up, sorry locked up for less. Anyway, that's what I've been up to. Pleasantly surprised to see that a number of believers have already either playlisted or wishlisted me anyway. I like it when that happens!
Anyway I know there are lots more out there who haven't had chance to hear my sound so I'm touting myself around. Hoping to spread the word and get myself closer to that $1k.
The songs: Aramea is a demo.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
OCT 19:  Weekly Update

Today is a great day, I've knocked off a milestone and got to $500. This is a real boost and I'd like to thank all my believers for getting me here. I have a little theory, $500 is enough to convince people that you're in the game for the long haul, you're here to be taken seriously and you are gonna do everything you can to make it to $50k. That's the plan for Dave Patrick.

This news, also I discovered through CLUB Sellaband, makes me the 141st most succesful artist on Sellaband (well in terms of Parts Sold anyhow), that's great to see.

This week's heroes. MissY and Johan who gave my song 'Proximity' airplay on TalentCast. Take a listen to SunshineLIVE if you have a mo. Also Phil for his ongoing encouragement. Bert - thanks for coming good and buying a part. Thanks also to Si Hopes my new believer.

I'd like to mention Shane also, as he sent me a long mail about my new track 'Aramea' - many thanks mate. I have taken on board comments and uploaded a new mix with a some improvements. I am not a producer however (see my blog entry) so chances are I've made it worse in other places. Ha, ha - anyway, demos are what they are and I believe in putting them up so SAB can judge me on songs, not on production values yet.

So there it is. I may have only made it into the SAB charts once so far but I am now on the road to £1k. Great stuff. Proximity has been played over 250 times.

On a more personal note, Caroline and I are expecting a new baby any day - in fact it's already 1 day past the due date! So, if I am a little quieter here next week, that's the only reason why. If you hear babies crying in any of my new mixes that'll also be explainable.

Best, Dave.

Please come and have a listen to another new upload 'Rising Tide' if you haven't yet.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
OCT 15: Up late, is there any better time to be SAB'ing? Just listening to the Talent Cast show on Sunshine LIVE hosted by Johan. I am really happy to receive such a positive comment and not only to get the track 'Proximity' playlisted but for Johan to say it was his fave of the week (or at least that's what I hope he said - those Dutch accents can be a bit tricky sometimes, he he.) Go Talent Cast! See Playlist here. (Oct 14 2007/ 10th edition)

Made a few new friends with SAB artistes on myspace over the weekend. Last night I was down in Poole Harbour with The Love Junkies. Tried to do the hilarious Poole/Pearl Harbour mix-up gag but couldn't quite pull it off.

Would really like to get to $500 by the end of next week. Things may be going a little slower at the moment on SAB, but I am keeping on writing. Thanks to latest believer Bert. Come on, get some DP investment and help me out to $500. Night.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
OCT 12: Splodger, Splodger, Splodger. Just who is this mysterious yellow-knit creature? I'd like to thank him for his support and forum posting concerning the new track 'Rising Tide'.

Uploaded a new profile picture, but worryingly I think it makes me look a bit too red faced. I think a new shoot is in order.

Concerning my activity of late, I have made a number of changes and also uploaded 2 new tracks 'Rising Tide' and 'Aramea'. This is just in readiness for the next few weeks my social networking activity on SAB may need to be a bit diminished as we are expecting the pitter patter of tiny feet - very imminently.

---------------------------------------------------------------------OCT 11: Regarding the demo 'Aramea', I have had a number of feedback emails which are really encouraging, especially thanks Shane (now that's a detailed e-mail - really appreciate it), Sommersby, Marcus, and also Rox. I am gonna brag a bit and pull out my favourite quote thus far (I will keep it anonymous to save blushes) it reads simply
"I think you have a winner on your hands"

I too think that the song has legs and is potentially a 'keeper' (see my blog Oct 9). Marcus (who is Rox's producer) and sound engineer, pointed out the imbalances betweeen some of the instrumentation and offered to mix it for me which was really kind. I do agree it needs a tweak in places, especially with regards to voice and guitar mixing, so all comments are duly noted and gratefully received. For the moment only I am not gonna spend a large amount of effort on making these demos sound great as I've made that mistake before! It is all focussing on the song for now.

I am definitely in the writing phase and that takes precedence.

As I've said before though Sellaband is different from all other sites as it is a place to get real feedback from people who give a monkeys!

To keep things fresh. I have posted up a new track Rising Tide. I was pleased that the track 'Trouble' got well over 100 plays, but I thought it time for something a little more upbeat.

PLEASE NOMINATE ME FOR SOMMERSBY'S SEPTEMBER GIVEAWAY. THANKS.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

OCT 9: Decided that it was right not to wait until $500 to upload one of the new demos, thought it might work better the other way round, hmmm, maybe I'll be proved right, or, er not. Anyway I am happy to upload 'Aramea', it is a demo song, yes and a catchy little ditty if I do say so meself, he, he :-). Any comments on the song please and not about the production, I do not claim to be a producer... that's a discipline I could do with some professional advice on! Still, I do know how to ride the faders. The other song 'Rachel' - which is written - is not ready yet as a demo and may have to wait for a few weeks as I really am up against it. Anyway, out of the 20 or so songs written for the new album, I am in the process of battering them all into shape and getting them into demo format. It is the plan to be able to air them all on Sellaband whilst I build on my believers list. Ultimately, I guess, getting feedback on which ones should be produced for the record by believers, giving a clear idea of which should be keepers and which should be consigned to demo wasteland (which seems to be a remarkably fertile place for some pro artists - no band-names mentioned!). This may seem to be a remarkably cocky attitude for someone on $440 but I think it is pointless to hide your bigger plans.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

OCT 7: Just up late doing a bit of Sellaband catchup. I'm really hoping to hit the $500 before the end of next week. I know I'm not quite in the same league as Julia Marcell yet but, well, you know, gotta try. Been gigging with RoxClaytonScott (Saturday) with The Love Junkies - we do covers and earn our keep by entertaining good folks (usually).

Like to thank Shane Seymour for coming good with his promise and putting in a couple of parts. I am excited about uploading a new demo and I have been writing most of this week. Here's a promise, once I hit $500 I will put it up one of the new demos, no matter what - even if I haven't quite smoothed out the edges - it would be great to get some feedback from my believers and anyone else who's interested. Still can't believe that Rox is $30 away from $2k. I'm hoping that one of her believers will make the difference - and soon!! I know she's sent out a lot of CDs. On that note, as I am involved in her album 'What I Meant to Say' I can promise that the artwork will be done and dusted this week and the CD will be off to the manufacturers. That's been a long time coming and I'm very excited for people to hear it. I've got a couple of tracks from this album up on my myspace page so have a listen. Anyway cheers for now.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

OCT 5: Firstly, Splodger I am eternally grateful! Also thanks to Sommersby and Martin Nicholas for bumping me up a part each. It's a real boost. I have put a new blog entry up too explain what I have been up to recently so have a click on my Blog tab. Glad to see that my second mention in the Tribune (#52) has also increased my stats and views. Proximity is up to 175 plays which is just great with me. And 400 plays in total. I am really pleased with the progress.
Yesterday was a good day for me  musically. Wrote and recorded a new song, pretty much from start to finish in about 6hrs. You know when you're on a roll as it just comes out, nothing can stop you. In the cold light of day I'm really happy as it passes the Old Grey Whistle Test! I have 2 demos provisionally titled 'Aramea' and 'Rachel', that I will work on in the next fortnight to get them in a state where I am ready for people on SAB to hear. I feel Sellaband is a good place to air them, as opposed to MySpace. The whole point is the song, not the production (which is why I am after the parts, duh) and I feel happier here to post ideas as opposed to doing it on MySpace. Having said that a lot of the songs here are very polished and I think artists are a little scared of pushing out stuff that is not quite ready. As for me, that's the whole point. Believers are savvy enough to know a good song when they hear it... and isn't that what the Sellaband ethos is all about? i.e. bringing a song idea to a professional studio and producer to get it produced in the best possible way. Absolutely. Excuses, moi? Nah. Just after some feedback. Goodnight.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OCT 2: CHART DAY I made it to the Weekly Chart #15! Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible. You are all stars. I'm now getting to work on my $1k plan. More importantly, I'm writing and arranging the new demos ready for the studio. I'm over the moon, thanks a bundle!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SEPT 30: CHART, CHART, CHART. That's part of the plan this week, so today I'm putting out a plea to all those great SAB believers who have wishlisted me to buy a part. I'll send you an album too.

Been away with RoxClaytonScott at the National Wedding Show and I'm very tired, this is all part of the 'day job', i.e. function band The Love Junkies - did I mention that somewhere before? I should really get some sleep, but I'm gonna do a bit more networking to try and consolidate my chart position this week. Played a great gig last night with Rox - who was on fire as usual - sometimes I get to sing a few numbers and last night had a nice little 'Long Train Runnin' moment. A really appreciative crowd. Good night Chislehurst! He he.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SEPT 27: Really should be putting this in my Blog. Another good day on SAB. Thanks Uli and Triff. I've been putting round the word, so hopefully get some new visitors. Did I mention that I'm looking to chart this week. Well I am. That's my goal and I'm sticking to it... Number 7 today, just under Rox, ha - look out behind ya missy!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SEPT 26: I'm in the SAB CHARTS. What a great day, thanks to my 2 new believers Steve and Charlotte. You guys are great. I know, I know it's only Wednesday so I shouldn't get too excited. Gotta get a few more parts in so I can make it into the 'weekly'. Superb.

I've got some good profile view and 206 tracks played. Onwards and upwards.

Anyway, continuing writing for the new album, $50k regardless. I am putting together a $1k plan for SAB and would really be grateful if you could help out by helping me to spread the word.

BTW: Please don't forget if you invest 2 parts I can forward you a copy of the album 'Proximity'.

Don't forget new track 'Strong' featuring my good mate Steve French on verse vocal. Give it a listen...

Love ya

Davey

As a little bit of interest, check out this link http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-5151487351015592629&pr=goog-sl

It features me and RoxClaytonScott (when we were in The Silent Prayers).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SEPT 25: Been away for a few days. Overwhelmed with package and posting my latest offer, okay, okay, I maybe being a little jovial here. Again may I just reiterate: BUY 2 parts in me and get a Free Album 'Proximity' - which features all of the tracks in the player, plus 12 others.

Had some good comments about the track Strong from those who've come and listened - thanks guys. Also the Tribune mention has been great.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

SEPT 18: ADAM'S APPLES

I'm delighted to get a mention in the Tribune this week...

"Rox Clayton Scott’s guitar player emerges as an artist in his own right with three songs from his own project. Tasteful throughout with excellent guitars and a surprisingly pleasant vocal personality. Engaging and professional - should find plenty of supporters here."

s'all good, s'all good.

Also, I've just uploaded a new track 'Strong' and I am looking forward to getting some comment on it. I think it is more inline with Proximity as it has loops running through, though mixed with live drums. Fingers crossed would like to get a mention in the Tribune, if it comes out today. Ha.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SEPT 17: Here's an offer to all who drop by and believe in me. I will send out a copy of my last album PROXIMITY with my band 'Otis' to anyone who buys 2 parts in me. This 15 track album is for sale on Amazon, here.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Proximity-Otis/dp/B000NSHYT4/ref=sr_1_1/202-7470349-8704623?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1190064503&sr=8-1

PROXIMITY is written by myself and 'Otis' musical partner Simon Burges. Please, take a little timeout to listen to the track in the player and see what you think! The album has 15 tracks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SEPT 15: Up to 150 profile views now, but a little quiet over the last day.

I've e-mailed Adam for inclusion in Adam's Apples. I guess he gets a lot of those but you never know! Be nice to get a mention in the Tribune.

I thought I would try offering an extra track for download to anyone who buys a part in me. Can't do any harm really and the track 'Back on my Feet' is one that I'm really proud of. Like to thank MaWa for his investment.

Keeping busy. Must get some shut-eye. Blog soon, but gigging tomorrow in Woburn with Rox.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SEPT 12: Been scratching a few posts, rattling a few cages, hassling a few bods! First up a big thank you to Phill (Somersby) for his encouragement. Cheers, means a lot Phill! I can see from the playlist stats that a few people have dropped by after I left a few notes with Believers around SAB. Being cautious just at the moment and don't want to seem like I'm spamming, but I know I have to do a lot more to keep up with Sarah's Smile. Ha!

Also thanking Rox for her kind words, I know I'm in her band and all but she doesn't have to reciprocate.

On a down-note, my recording studio has just knacked out after updating to OS10.4.10 and Alesis and Apple are telling me that they may or may not sort it out. Sheesh... I think I may go and call Trades Description. I just wanna get creating.

Oh well. Gotta go.

My first Incentive: Buy 1 part in me and I'll send you a free track to download 'Back on My Feet'.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SEPT 11: Just doing a bit of promoting on SAB. Gotta be bold, gotta get the tracks under the noses of anyone who's up for a listen. It's a humbling experience laying your musical balls on the block like this, but then what's the point in being reserved. Hoping for some comments... go, on - I can take it, he he.

Thanks Splodger for supporting me, you're a star.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SEPT 10: Just signed up for the Sellaband adventure. I am currently writing and recording for my first solo project, away from my previous band Otis. I am very excited about the material I am writing at the moment and am looking forward to finishing the writing phase. Please have a listen to the tracks, especially Trouble and Proximity to get an idea of where it's going.

Also as part of the RoxClaytonScott band and as a co-writer and musician for her forthcoming album 'What I Meant to Say' I'm hoping to promote things for both projects. Looking forward to interacting with the SAB community. Cheers for now.

It's all good mate.

Yep, I'd noticed that your tally was slowly increasing, so I thought that I might give it a nudge in the right direction.

My 'hard-earned' cash isn't really so hard-earned anymore (although I do have to save up for the 2 holidays that I've been invited on with friends, music festivals and family holiday - all of which I shall be attending in the summer holidays... will be a busy time).

However, it's always a pleasure to take a trip over to your page for a bit and listen to some of your tunes for a bit of relaxation.

Happy to be investing more.

Hope all's good with you?

Yours,

Matt

Dave's a really nice guy who makes jazzy and soulful guitar-based chill out music.  Take him up on his "three parts for an album" offer, as "Proximity" is a superb listen, both aesthetically and technically, with 15 great tracks. He's got a smooth and relaxed singing  style which suits the music perfectly.

Dave is an excellent musician. Looking forward to his SAB-album!

An awesome and determined artist. His musical skill is truly astounding, and the mood that are created through his songs is one of the most relaxing, yet energy-packed that I have ever heard. I have listened to his album 'Proximity' with the band 'Otis' and it's absolutely fantastic. He's worked on an album with RoxClaytonScott that I'm really looking forward to hearing sometime soon. I just hope that he keeps making this beautiful music and reaches his dream of $50K. Let's all help him reach that goal.
