JUN 2: Parting is such sweet sorrow
One year and nine months on Sellaband. Phew, it's been fun, it's been time consuming, it's been productive, it's been spam-tastic, it's been a huge drain on my time and resources. But I wouldn't have had it any other way. I've loved being here, and I've loved what I've got out of it, but now, alas I have to leave.
I still think Sellaband is a great idea, and I wish the site and all the friends and artists I've met here the very best of luck. I'm not leaving for any political reason. In the last few months I've just run out of steam. I was optimistic about my album getting completed six months ago, but oh. how things have changed. I don't have any time anymore, I have 2 small kids and run my own business, plus I play every week in a function band.
Thanks for all your support over the last year and nine months. Please keep in touch as I will contact all the friends I've made here once the album is done. You can reach me on dave@thelovejunkies.co.uk or at myspace www.myspace.com/davepatrickmusic
Adios
David

Some of the more astute amongst you may have charted my absence for a little while. The truth is that my rock n roll career has been on hold. Work, children and a combination of lots of things kinda forced my hand and has led to a severe time drought. I am still around. Don't abandon hope, although I can see from the lack of comments that I wasn't too missed! For my friends I'm going to post up a mix of Back to the Start. Seems almost apt at the moment. More soon...

FEB 19: New Track "When It All Comes Together"
Just to rock it up a bit I'm posting a little something I wrote last year with Rox Clayton-Scott. This is a bluesy, west-coast rock classic and a track that I'm really proud of. Rox is taking the lead vocals on this one. Come take a listen.
Â
FYI The track is taken from the album Rox Clayton-Scott 'What I Meant To Say'. More info at www.roxclaytonscott.com.
Â
I've changed my profile picture too, this was one of me playing with Toyah at Portsmouth Guildhall. Power-chording my way through 'It's a Mystery' ;-)
Â
Keep on believing. My album is coming, and I will send a copy to anyone who invests 1 part in me.

Listen to the Collaboration Project PLAYLIST. Pay attention to #16 'When Will I Return' with Clem. ;-) and also #34 'To Die For' with Annie Bacon.
####### PERMANENT OFFER: Invest just 2 parts and I will send you a copy of my album 'Proximity' ########
REVIEWS
From Adam's Apple: "Rox Clayton Scott’s guitar player emerges as an artist in his own right with three songs from his own project. Tasteful throughout with excellent guitars and a surprisingly pleasant vocal personality. Engaging and professional - should find plenty of supporters here."

About Proximity
Proximity originally featured on the Otis album 'Proximity' and is a taster of where I am looking for things to be headed with the new project. Lots of intense moody guitar, layered over simple keys and drum loops with a doubled vocal effect, this song and its lyrical concept are just about creating a haunting and deep listening experience.

I'v not been active on SAB for a while, so I just found out your'e leaving. That's a real shame, but I can understand your reasons. Adios my man. Be good...
Hi David, I only just came across your name today while doing that necessary but extremely time consuming thing of hunting around for potential believer/supporters. I've been a believer for 15 months and support 20 or so other artists. I am sorry that I didn't discover you sooner. I'd just like to say that I have listened and really like your music. I only launched my own artist profile 3 1/2 months ago, but I agree that the the e-demands are certainly burdensome. Little time is left for creating music or recording and for family life. It's frustrating and unproductive. I too have two children, a profession that is very demanding, a band, and I play solo too. Fortunately, I don't rely on music for an income but music is a passion. Getting a sore back, sitting at the computer for hours on end is not my passion. Perhaps the difficulties that artists are facing in Sellaband these days have a lot to do with the weak economy. I call that believer fatigue. Whatever the reason, I have a hunch that there will be a flood of artists leaving Sellaband. I guess that's artist fatigue. All the best to you David. Clive Barratt
Dave, I'm so sad. First Annie and then you. You're two of my top favourites on SellaBand. Love your "Proximity" album and waiting for the next one. Good luck and I hope you won't miss it here too much ;))
Good luck with all you do Dave. You are right, success on here is not confined to just $'s alone. I wish you and your family the very best. Cheers : Phil
Cheers David, not sure I was the first first, but now I might be kinda the last first :) Get your priorities right, thats all my advise :) All the best & farewell as said
Cheers MaWa - you were my first believer. I won't forget that. Good luck to you and all who sail in you, etc...!
