Info

The Dirty Cherubs consists of 4 Mansfield lads and 1 Scotsman, all based in Mansfield Nottinghamshire, all with 1 big thing in common; the love of great music! With a sound based around being as diverse as possible, the Dirty Cherubs are pleasing audiences everywhere, with there multi-faceted appeal. Scott, Richie & Rob were the first to meet. They all attended what was then Brunts Upper School in Mansfield, where together they studied music. Playing together regularly in all different ensembles, from Jazz and swing to all-out rock. After the summer of 1998, Rob & Richie went away to study at University. (Middlesborough & Bradford) All out carnage ensued, as I’m sure many of you can relate to, but they survived long enough to return, hungrier than ever to get something musical on the road. Full of riffs, ideas an’ hooks, they began to write and search for the other right ingredients for the band. Teaching and playing for show bands, musicals, club bands & anything else that paid, all over the country, Rob and Richie managed to scrape a living out of the music industry. All this enabled them to observe and learn as much as possible, and pick up a few fans on the way. In this time, Scott had been constantly gigging with all kinds of out-fits, from 50’s Rock & Roll to 80’s Hard Punk. Scott moved from band to band, usually having more than one project on the go at any one time. Building a wealth of musical and social experience has made him what he is today; a solidly timed drummer, with his own unmistakable sound. Scott is now a highly respected session musician and teacher of drums. In 2004, Scott and Richie opened Instru-Tech Ltd, some studio’s in Mansfield, supporting the local music scene, which has thrived ever since and to this day is the creative home of the band. The Scottish rock scene had a treasure. This guy could really sing!!! Tearing up the local bar and club scene, Dave was in high demand. Gigging constantly around Scotland and North England, Dave could blast his way through the most angst AC/DC, Audioslave and Guns & Roses numbers all night long, down another pint and then return to sing the most delicate Coverdale/Tyler vocals ever witnessed. This guy had a stage presence and natural talent that was unmatched. Making waves in Glasgow, his home town, and in Mauritius the land of his Forefathers, Dave had mastered his trade at a very young age. Richie, Rob and Dave met in Dundee in late 2004. Richie and Rob had been playing a show at the Caird Hall and were having an after-show party with fellow cast members at the Balcony Bar, only to find on arrival Dave singing his boozed-up heart out. Singing a whole host of rock covers, Dave made a serious impression on Rob & Rich, who recognised his voice as the winning ingredient. Fate had stepped in to provide a front to the band. 2005: The band was on the road. We had been writing constantly and Rob had been forced onto Bass, his second instrument. This was partly due to our appreciation of the ability to play solidly together and partly due to the fact that we needed to get the right guy for the job. Finally, after doing a fair few gigs, creating some support and auditioning so many bass players, we met up with Mark. His solid style and massive enthusiasm was exactly what we were looking for. He lives very local to us all, he’s a mechanic, (which any musician will tell you, is invaluable on the road) and most importantly, he’s one of us. Mark had been playing in various bands before and met the challenge graciously. Our sound grew ten-fold with Mark now driving the band forward with Scott and Rob able to rip it up with Richie!! The Dirty Cherubs, first single is set to be released on the 14th July 2007, after being signed by Logik Recordings. With a large catalogue of brand new tunes ready to be shared with the Rock Community, it’s an extremely excitin’ time for everyone. Long live the RAWK!!!
