Hello Everyone!
This is ME on MySpace: www.myspace.com/floatingpoint
It all started in 2001. I just wanted to play electric guitar. But soon I realised that copying someone else's solos doesn't satisfy me at all. I preferred to learn theory and experiment with chord progressions. I spent about two years focused on practice before I attempted to 'write' some music for the very first time. I was extremely limited at that time (in terms of hardware and software) and saved my early ideas as midi scores only.
As my confidence grew I decided to search for other musicians and play. This occurred to be a problem however, as my musical ideas were rather different...Apart from occasional jam session I worked alone. And got used to it.
After I moved to the UK I was able to invest in a so called 'home recording studio'...or rather 'bedroom-recording quasi-studio'. I built a dedicated music workstation PC, got some some software and discovered the world of sound synthesis. This changed my outlook on music completely. My guitars became just instruments not the focal point of my compositions.
Since my discovery of virtual instruments I have been exploring the world of electronic music and been trying to make a fusion of real and synthetic sounds. To blend heaviness with delicacy, anger with beauty, black with white and everything in between. I have become a painter. Sounds are my colours. And music is a vision.
