BIO HEARTSHINE

At age 15 Jesse started playing guitar and writing songs with his classmate Luuk van Geffen. Together the started to write an enourmous amount of lyrics, to some of them they composed music. When the co-writership slowly faded Jesse started a to write songs with a new friend Jan Simon Schaap. Together they founded Bad Indian. They wrote al lot of songs and recorded some simple demo’s influenced by Oasis and Guns n’ roses.

When Jesse moved to another city to study Graphic Design, Bad Indian ended.

At artschool Jesse played with some new friends and started his new project Little Genius in 1999. In two years Jesse recorded 2 cd’s on his 8 track recorder, using drum machines and playing all the instruments himself accept some amazing sologuitar parts by guitarist Jean Basemans. The albums were called: STILL WATERS RUN DEEP and THE RAGE AGAINST THE FADING OF DELIGHT. The recordins were poor, but the songs slowly developed into better songs

In 2001 Jesse changed the name Little Genuis into HEARTSHINE because it felt more connected with his music style and message. He recorded the first Heartshine album THE INSIDE OUT as his graduation project. Still with drumcomputers and again with a couple of nice solo’s by Jean Basemans. The cd artwork contained 16 pages of rock ‘n roll lifestyle with the motto: “if you want to be a star, act like a star” (Some of the pages can be viewed at the design section of his website www.heartshine.com)

The INSIDE OUT CD attracted some producers and Jesse started working with producer and keyboard player Martien van Oostrom. At the same time Jesse found guitarist Steven Svensson and together they started to work on a official studio record THE GENTLE ART OF KISSING GIRLS For a year they recorded demo’s and then the went into the studio to record basictracks with some session musicians.

Because of some other projects that came in between, the record is still unfinished. Right now we are planning to complete the recordings in April. So than you can listenen to some songs they way, they were meant to be.

In the mean time Jesse has been writing and recording a large amount of new songs, so again there’s plenty of great material to record.

Steven Svensson decided to develope himself as a studio engineer and producer and left the life-line up of Heartshine, but is still dedicated to finish the album.

Heartshine is looking for some fresh musicians to join and celebrate the Heartshine experience and make it onto stage. If you are interested and living in holland, you can drop him a line.
