NOTE:
I hope your summer has been going great. I've been extremely busy over the last month or so, writing and recording many new songs. There has been a lot of momentum, and I've needed to go with that . . . which hasn't left as much time for me to be on SAB as I used to be. Please know I'm here and logging on when possible - and look forward to sharing more music and news with you soon.
Thank you for your continued support.
For more info and news please check out:
Be well and Many Thanks, jess xoxo

:: Short Bio ::
Piano. Began playing when I was around 4 years old, was drawn to it.
Writing. When I was around 7, I became really into writing short stories; a few years later this evolved into poetry. Always kept a journal for this.
Songs. My sister and I grew up singing and harmonizing together for fun; we would even record ourselves and critique each other (odd?).
Magic. As a teenager, I discovered writing songs and immediately fell in love with it ... however, it wasn't until I finished high school that I found the courage to perform my own material.
Along with music, I've always wanted to "give back" to the world in other, more direct ways, to those in need. After college, I spent a year as a volunteer music and english teacher in the Marshall Islands. This was a life-altering experience, only music could have brought me back to the States, and to New York. I hope to be able to contribute to the world in this way again, and hopefully on a grander scale at some point in my life.
Since coming to New York City, I've been living the dream - as an aspiring artist. I am living a dream, and am hoping that Sellaband will help me create an album that matters and affects many people. One way or another, I'll get there. In the meantime, I'm enjoying this journey and connecting with some fabulous people in this unique SAB community.

If you only have time to listen to one artist, then Jess King is the one artist you should listen to. This girl is gifted! "Your Deep Dark Eyes" is fantastic. It is one of those songs that will get under your skin and you'll find yourself singing it or humming it in the shower, on your way to work, on your way to church or on your way to jail, on your way home, on your bicycle, on your lunch break, on your date....you get the idea.
Jess' songs have a rich, moody feel similar to Sara McLaughlin yet Jess has a style all her own. Jess' songs should be playing on the radio. With this calibre of music, I have no doubt they eventually will be. Jess King is going places!
Don't miss the boat...become a believer.

Lazy comparisons with Ellie Williams, Julia Marcell or Tori Amos are imminent at the moment Jess King tinkles the ivories. But looking deeper into her music is something that will surely provide its rewards. Jess King may base the foundations of her music on a talented skill in piano, but alongside this- she employs a surprisingly rare inclusion of American pop. With an underlining prominence given to R&B and soul, the piano successfully compliments the adult orientated pop sound that Jess creates. Lyrically, she speaks passionately of human emotion- and delivers it with a gorgeous and serene vocal talent. Her words are straight forward, as she chooses a direct and emotional outpour strategy as opposed to a metaphorical manner. As an artist on Sellaband, Jess may not be as vocal as others, and chooses not to spam or constantly advertise herself- but don’t be fooled as she is constantly updating and welcoming new believers. Taking a slower trek to 50K, Jess King evidently makes friends and alliances along the journey- ensuring that by the time the target does arise she will have planned, practiced and provided some of the best songs, catchiest melodies and beautiful deliverances that we can expect from the funds. I think that if everyone took just a few moments to listen to Jess King, they’ll be pleasantly surprised. For Fans of N’Kenge, Ellie Williams, Alicia Keys and the like- don’t take too long because this genre of piano led R&B has proved to be amazingly successful up to now- and Jess King isn’t one to break any of these expectations. |

What can I say but this is good music, and Jess King is a great singer! If you haven't heard her music yet, give "Your Deep Dark Eyes" a try. Jess' songs should be playing on the radio everywhere, everyday! |

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGG GHHHHHHHHHHH I wish I were administrating a major company to rocket Jess King worldwide as fast as a thunder and spread her wonderful talent, voice, eyes, face and smile in front of everybody down there! Jess has exactly all what a star needs to be a star and she never abuses of these gifts she has received from the creation. She knows that success can better be built upon a hard stuff, a kind and soft attitude... as an american girl, how surprising it is, and how seducing: no show off, no teasing, no emphasis... just simple songs perfectly interpreted, right modulations at the right tempo, a clear and neat line drawing musical serpentines into my ears. If I had to choose a few artists in Sellaband to make a Dream Team, I certainly would choose Jess King to compose, play keyboards and... SING! If we had no female lead vocals in AIOIA, I certainly would ask Jess King to enter the band. At least, I hope we'll have the great opportunity to have some gigs together. I'm sure our deep dark eyes would be turned instantly into bright enlightened eyes! Jess, you're one of the greatest talents in Sellaband and everywhere. Keep up this wonderful work and YOU, Believers, do believe before it's too late. How could you live after you miss Jess King? Jess King in five words: THE voice, poetry, charm, natural, enlightenment. |

For too long i have heard music from this girl and failed to give acclaim to the creater! She is such a beautifully talented individual that it send shivers down my spine to hear her tremendous vocal abilities with its richness and intoxicating tone. A personal favourite is 'Your Deep Dark Eyes', and if this song is anything to judge you on then you certainly are goin to make a huge impression on the world. The Lyrics seems to have such emotion and thought and i pray you keep up the good work... i have every faith you will! xxx |
