Also the band _SLEEPeR covered my song.  And triff says The Guardian mentioned me in the article about Sellaband.

Hello Everyone,
my name is Julia and I write songs. That's what I do, most of the time when I don't sing, because for the majority of my time I just sing... or watch youtube.com (I'm so addicted). I also play piano, sometimes with a string quartet accompanying and I think that best describes my music - it's piano'n'strings oriented. It's also rock influenced and very personal, but for that you have to take a good listen and look at the lyrics.

I make my own string arrangements too and I get put down by the cellist for abusing the pizzicato. I actually make a lot of things myself, and it's not for the love of control, but mostly for the lack of somebody else around to do it. I tried taking the "normal" way, going to school, practicing a lot, and after many adventures and disappointments, I found myself in a place, where I finally understand what I want to do. I have great passion for music and art and I can't live without creating.

The wonderfull musicians who play with me are:
-Anna Caban (on violin),
-Adam Bruderek (on violin),
-Anna Prokopczuk (on viola),
-Patrycja Taradejna (on cello)

Some time ago I recorded a 5 song ep called Storm, parts of which you can listen to here.

THAT WAS QUITE A PARTY!
Me and my band got together to chat with you online, play the album for the 1000th time and celebrate it. Actually, I'm still recovering ;)

Thank you everyone for all your kind words on chat, reviews, comments, reviews on amazon.co.uk (thanks Richie Murray! :), emails, blogs,  your own versions of the cover (Atsuo!), thank you for everything. It was a blast!

And yesss - it's selling! :D

May 14 2008
Today is the day my album comes out. Still few hours to go and I'm mostly preparing everything to work during the release, but I also have my mind obsessively circulating around the subject.

To be honest, I have nothing new to tell you at this point - no insightful thoughts, no leaks of album secrets (only few hours now). But I need to have a note on 14th on my blog and in the evening I'll probably be too drunk of joy and alcohol to write one. My band mates come over to celebrate with me and boy, they sure can party! ;)

I'm not gonna throw at you any last minute "I'm so proud of this album"s - it doesn't matter now. Just have fun during the listening session. :)

May 9 2008
5 days! We're in the middle of preparing new website. Apart from juliamarcell.com, the new album is going to have it's own website with some fun stuff. I don't know, on one hand I am a purist, I think the music should speak for itself, but on the other I have so many ideas in so many different areas, I would die if I couldn't make them come out just for the sake of the purity.  I await the day I'll create a musical project so complex and creatively draining I will be too tired to do anything around it.

I barely can take all the excitement anymore. I'm going for a swim... in the sea of html that is...

May 6 2008

The 4th teaser is online!  This one is my favorite. :)

Very important news guys! The hours of listening session on 14th May are already known - at 7 PM CET it starts for my Believers, at 8 PM CET for Everybody else. Like the Sellaband tradition commands, during the listening session you will be able to listen to the whole new album and have a little chat with me. See you there!

And that's not all - Atsuo wrote a very long and detailed blog entry about my Sellaband journey, read it here:

Apr 28 2008
Tomorrow is the radio interview day (see below), but more importantly, tomorrow is the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT day! About the time I'll be coming home from the interview, you should be informed by the new Tribune of the very release date of my album...

...and the third teaser goes online tomorrow too!

Apr 25 2008
Radio interview.
On Tuesday 29th April (yes - the premiere day of the third teaser) I will be a guest in Polish Radio Three ("Trojka") - national radio known for promoting good music. I will be talking about my music, upcoming album and Sellaband and playing some songs from Storm EP. Tune in at 3p.m. you can listen also on the internet.

Apr 22 2008
Second teaser is online!

Apr 15 2008

Let's start off with some TEASERS! :)

Apr 10 2008
Back from sunny Portugal to rainy Poland - the difference is significant, I tell you, makes me wanna lay down in my bed with flue. But I'm not giving up - the release date of new album is soon to be announced. Playing in Marinha Grande was an amazing experience. It's true, whenever you go, the atmosphere is always different, people react in different way, in Portugal I would say it was happily sentimental, made me feel peaceful. And Rita Redshoes is wonderful live.

The venue itself - Auditório José Vareda - is a great place with beautiful sound - people could actually hear the lyrics clearly which is very important during solo+piano sets, but that was mostly thanks to the great sound engineer I had pleasure to work with. I have so many warm memories, Portugal is a beautiful country and the people are very friendly and open. I’ve made a lot of friends, it was great to meet with guys from Cisco (thanks for inviting me Bruno!), my Believers from Sellaband, Metricks and Alexx from Nearfield™ ®, and many musicians and artists. I hope to see you guys soon.

Festival has not yet ended - tomorrow (April 11th) you can see The Bleeps and Estado Sónico, and on April 12th Femme Fatale and Umpletrue
Check out Cisco website for more information.

Apr 2 2008
Workin' hard! To be honest, we have some troubles with the visuals, so let's hope they will be over very soon. It's funny how life can get you when you think everything will go smoothly. Nope. Not everything. I mustn't complain though, I believe we'll resolve the problem in a blast.

In two days I leave to Portugal to play a show at Overlive Festival - did I already say how excited I am? My first show since that whole visual work started. I love playing live, I like the challenge behind it. I would really like to go on a road and try myself in a situation where you play live almost everyday, and with bunch of good friends. To see how the songs, the performance and my voice are evolving from one venue to another. Different places, different people, different atmosphere. And if it's day to day you actually have a chance to see that evolution, because with big time gaps between the shows, I forget how I did, what I sung. I remember places, people and the response, I remember if the sound was good and sound guy a friendly one ;), but my own performance stays always as a blurred memory. And maybe, just maybe, you have better chance to conquer stage fright if you play a show daily. ;)

I have changed, I see that. Since I hit 50k I have become a different person, more mature and focused one I feel. I learned so much. I hear differently, I like different things, different things catch my attention.

Sellaband changes... yeah...

Mar 16 2008
So... March already. Time is flying when you're busy. And we're almost there with the visuals. In fact there are so many exciting ideas around this record - the songs, the title, the cover, the video documentary, everything has similar conceptual ground and I'm so glad about that. In fact it took me a while trying to figure out how to put the pieces together. Because it is a tough task after all - not only all of the ideas have to be great (obviously I won't go for less), but also, they have to work well with each other, create the feeling of unity, but don't be tediously the same. I think I'm there. I hope I'm there. I hope that's it, and from where I'm standing now, it sure looks like it.

Feb 25 2008
"Storm EP" is sold out! Thank you to all who bought it!
This also means that the free CD option is not available anymore to Believers who bought 3 or more parts in me. But I think that all of you who were interested already have it. :)

The CDs that had been ordered up to today will still be shipped to their new owners.

Feb 19 2008

Yes, it's true - all the music on my album has already been recorded, mixed and mastered, in one word - finished! As you can read in tribune, Sellaband already received the master. There's still a lot to do, but in general: the album (with it's own heart, soul and flesh) has been born, now all it needs is a pretty dress. :)

Feb 8 2008
Back home from Berlin and London. It was great, really awesome times we had in the studio with Lars (the A&R manager) and Moses (producer), I know we have something special and I can't wait for you to hear it. We played some of the new songs in London and they were received very warmly. I'm confident we're heading good way, I feel it in my guts. ;)
Great meeting you all in London - all the Artists and Believers who came were very nice to us, thanks Dave for organizing the event.
See you all next time around. :)

Jan 31 2008
See you in few days in London everyone!

Jan 19 2008
Just a quick note on a 5 minutes brake. Everything goes great, the atmosphere is brilliant and the people who help us are a bliss. Now we're recording a song with 3 drummers! You can imagine how awesome it must  sound! :)

Jan 13 2008

The big moment is nearing - we head over to Berlin! On that occasion I took a quick look at the 50k plan I wrote when I was on 35k and I have to say by now it looks pretty much the same. We're recording 10 songs that will make it to the album, there's a documentary going to be shoot on-site and a music video in plans. Definitely one exciting time ahead of us. Keep your fingers crossed!

And now packing, packing, packing...

PS. Check out the beautiful video Vincent B made to Lola Perrin's music:

Jan 05 2008!

On the occasion of being sick I have a bit of time on my hands to update you on my whereabouts. It's almost only a week left till the recording of my album in Berlin. These days we almost only rehearse and if I have a moment for myself I think about the cover for the record and such. It's funny that till yesterday I still didn't have the title of the album, but I think I have it now (and the more I think about it, the more I like it) It's ... weird, unlike anything, and that's good, that's what I'm going for. Of course I won't tell you yet because A. I could still change my mind, B. it's the kind of title you don't give out before the release. But just for your amusement I can give you few titles that popped into my head, but didn't go further than being a joke to entertain the band:

- "Never mind the bollocks, here's Julia Marcell"

- "Just another singer-songwritter"

- "As long as the music is playing - no-one stole your ipod"

How would you like one of those? ;)

Dec 22 2007

Tickets for Sellagig in London (where I'm playing with 7 more SAB artists) are now on sale!   BUY TICKETS FOR SELLAGIG

On a personal note I would like to wish Everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! May 2008 be even better for Sellaband and the whole community than 2007 was. :)

Dec 12 2007

Rather important news: Change in the CD price.

Due to the recent unstable rate of dollar, I decided to change the currency to euro. Now you can buy my "Storm EP" for 4,5 euro, shipping is 1,5 euro. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Dec 10 2007

Back from Berlin! In tomorrow's Tribune there should be a little something about all that. ;)

In the meantime an interview for nowamuzyka.pl (sorry, Polish only) here: http://www.nowamuzyka.pl/artykul.php?id=230

Dec 2 2007

I'm bringing you the pics! Head over to my myspace page for a very long tour blog! Also on my myspace and my page you can find the photos from the road! Videos to come soon.

Plus, my dear Believer  chenque  started a musicblog! I don't understand it, cause it's all in Dutch, but one look at the entries says he even wrote something about me (Poolse invasie?). All Dutch speaking people - check out the blog: http://chenque65.blogspot.com/!

Nov 30 2007

Exciting news! I'll be playing a gig in London with 7 wonderful Sellaband artists on February 3rd! And yes, I'll play with my string quartet!

Check out the forum topic!

In few days I go back to Berlin (I'm almost more often there than in my home town these days ha ha ;) to meet up with Moses, my producer and talk about the preproduction. We'll start recording in January, so now we prepare ourselves for that. I know it's gonna be good. :)

Last but not least: melodic.net posted a very positive review of my "Storm" EP, written by Mr.Pär Winberg - check it out!

Nov 23 2007

The show in Berlin was a blast! I had the greatest time playing there, warm response from the audience and lots of fun watching Wayne Jackson's great set. The thing that was especially nice was a big group of Polish folks who came to the show to see me - it was so amazing to hear Polish language from the audience and get so much support - thank you guys! Dziękuję, że wpadliście! :)

Tomorrow the show with my band in Wronki, next day in Wrocław. Keep your fingers crossed - I hope to have some photos/videos this time.

Nov 19 2007

Life after 50k is so busy, I had no idea! Now I know where all the 50kers disappear - buried under pile of work!

Tomorrow morning I go to Berlin to play a show before Wayne Jackson. I really hope that's gonna go good. I think it's my most important show to date (career wise), so I kinda feel the pressure, but I'm optimistic. I'll play a small set of songs, some new, some old, a cover perhaps, but not much as I have 25 minutes. Wish me luck and a positive crowd!

Here are the promised videos from Leeuwarden - the animations I'm talking about in the blog post below. Francis Rodino liked his music video, so I guess I can show you. But beware, there are some problems with the vocals in chorus - they go quiet because youtube transfers the song to mono and unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it.

The videos:

Group 1: Modest Mouse "Dashboard"

Group 2: Francis Rodino Band "Any Day Now"

Enjoy! :)

Nov 10 2007

I'm still in Leeuwarden, sitting in a crowded foyer of the theatre and chatting with Vincent B. We just finished day one of the animation workshop and I think it's going very good - we have some nice ideas, so I know the film will be great. I think I can show you later what we did, because the films will be on the internet as well. Yesterday's performance was quite an experience for me. I played in a big hall of the foyer, I had a beautifull, black, upright piano, and the most of all I had few familiar faces of the Believers who came to see me, smiling at me and helping me to get over the stage fright. Later that evening they stayed a bit to chat with me about many different things and of course Sellaband! ;) Thank you again for coming Jeroen, Noldi and his lovely girlfriend, Johan and his lovely friend, Vincent and everyone else - it was great to see you there!

Nov 6 2007

Congratulations to T-ka and BPM (1000+ Believers!) and late congrats to Francis Rodino!

Packing, packing, packing. Tomorrow I fly to Amsterdam and from there to Leeuwarden. It's gonna be a busy week, I'll be doing an animation workshop on a film festival and playing a show in the middle. Also I'll be doing an interview and one live song for a radio - awesome! It's all happening thanks to Nienke who is one of the Festival people and she invited me there. I'm looking forward to seeing her and Bauke soon as well as all the Believers who will decide to come to the show or/and the workshop (see you there Vincent!).

On a side note, I'm currently preparing with my band for the shows in Poland. We're rehearsing a lot! Some of the songs hasn't been played by the band yet (because I arranged them on a computer), so now they begin to gain more life as we play with the arrangements a bit. We also almost agreed on the recording time table. Can't tell the exact dates yet, but I think I can "leak out" that it's gonna be January 2008. :)

Oct 30 2007

So, I'm back from Berlin and it was great! Things really do start looking clear now. You can read about my Berlin experience in the new Tribune.

And I would like to invite you all to my show in the Netherlands (read about it in the shows section) - it's gonna be fun and the entry is free. I could use some Believers' support! :)

I'm very busy preparing for the shows and recordings now. Things really do heat up after the 50k. I have lots of things to decide upon and to prepare. But the further I go, the more I realize how lucky I am to be in such situation and have this opportunity. Sellaband - you are awesome! And again a big thank you to all of my Believers and supporters. :)

Oct 22 2007

In three days I leave for Berlin to meet Dagmar and Lars and talk about my album. I'm so excited, can't wait to see their faces when I play them the demos that I've been recording at home - will they like the news stuff? which songs will they find best? I've got so many ideas for the arrangements, the cover, the music video, I don't know if it all fits in one, even few hours long , conversation. We'll see about that. Right now so much in my life depends on what happens in Berlin, it's getting funny. I can't make any "music business" decisions, I have to keep telling everyone who wants to work with me: I'll tell you after Berlin ha ha ;) So funny. It may be a new beginning, but also, a beginning of an end, lol ;) Anyway, keep your fingers crossed, I'll keep you informed about what we'll decide upon, along with Everybody else. :)

Oct 13 2007

Back home from TV, tired but happy. It was a cool experience, everyone was super nice to me and very professional. So professional they put it on the internet before I managed to come back to my home town!

So thanks to that now you can watch Julia in Dzien Dobry TVN (second video)

Oct 11 2007

You guys, I was on TV! I was in short news program called "Teleexpress" and in a local TV. Check it out: watch Julia in Teleexpress !!!

I was also in the news of RMF FM, one of the biggest Polish radio stations and in several newspapers (including the front page of "Gazeta Olsztynska")

But that's not all. On Saturday, 13th October, around 9 in the morning, I'll be in "Dzien dobry TVN" (on Polish station TVN) where I'll be talking about my 50k, Sellaband and my upcoming album. (Could someone with the TV tuner card please record it on a computer? I would appreciate it.)

This is the power of Sellaband, and I mean it! :D

Oct 06 2007

Just a quick note to let you guys know I'm alive. Yesterday after all the excitement I fell asleep and slept till today's morning. It was so intense! It's been so busy since then, everyone is calling, writting, I feel like I'm a world champion in swimming or something! Crazy! But also awesome and I love every moment of it (I also need a bit of rest but that's to be fixed soon :).

Back to you soon.

Oct 03 2007

I'm on 75% of budget!  Awesome! :D

It's amazing what a "little" press can do - today there was an article about Sellaband and me in one of the biggest Polish newspapers "Gazeta Wyborcza". I wanted to thank all of my Polish folks for such amazing feedback! Dzięki wszystkim! :)

Oct 02 2007

I have only one thing to say about the SellaBand Business plan 2008:

                                    I love you guys! :D

Oct 01 2007

Waiting for official Sellaband business plan, you can drop by "don't panic we are from Poland" music blog and download music for free! "We Are From Poland" vol. 1 compilation presents music from many independent bands and artists from Poland, including my song "Jack the Ripoff". Check out what my countrymen create and enjoy good tunes. And then after you listen, you can vote in poll (SONDA) for your favourite song (you can also vote for me, that would be cool :)

Sep 30 2007

Some thoughts on the Final Countdown (inspired by Hans de Mooij's comment: " 1389 to go..." ):
...
1389 parts left...
...
I'm still in the Middle Ages with a year like that. I need to go back to the birth of Christ!
...
...
Wonder what would mean to go to the beginning of Ancient times...
...
SAB CD sales?
...
and then Iron Age, Bronze Age, Prehistory...
Considering that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old, I have a bright future in front of me! ;)

Sep 20 2007

Sep 15 2007

I had the greatest time in the Netherlands meeting all of you, playing the show with Radio Orange, arranging songs with Bauke, eating the most delicious dinner made by Pieps and discussing with Dagmar and Chris my 50k plan (we agreed that it should have a 'boobjob' in it ;), it was a blast! Thank you Everyone who came, I hope we can meet again soon! :)

Sep 09 2007

Hey Everyone. Just to let you know - tomorrow morning I leave to The Netherlands, so I may be out of reach for a little while.

Sep 05 2007

For the details about The Spitsbergen Gig scroll down.

I'm back from a meeting with Pim in Warsaw, where I saw with my own eyes why Sellaband has such amazing atmosphere - it's all about great people who run it and great people attract other great people - that's it, that's the whole secret. It's been so amazing to meet Pim in person and talk about just anything that came to our minds, but mostly it was Sellaband as you can guess easily. :) Anyway, so I'm back and what do I see? I'm over 29k and I have the third spot in Top Artists!!! This is so amazing!!! But that's not the end: Vegas Dragons are over 40k!! 50k is so close now, is it gonna be today? Tomorrow? I keep my fingers crossed for you guys! :)

Oh, I almost forgot (yeah, right ;) The Spitsbergen Gig:

Yes, what you read in the tribune is true. On September the 13th I'm gonna play a small gig (few songs for few people) in at Studio Spitsbergen near the city of Groningen (www.studiospitsbergen.nl). The door opens at 20.00, and the gig starts at 21.00. Later we can drink and discuss things till about 23.00 when it'll all end. So, if you think you can make it to the gig, and you would like to come, please PM me about it as we have very little space for the audience.

In short: Julia's small gig on 13th September at Studio Spitsbergen, doors open at 20.00, gig starts at 21.00, doors close at 23.00. If you want to go - PM me!

Aug 31 2007

I can't believe my own eyes but it's true! I'm mentioned on Regina Spektor's page in Wikipedia, in trivia section:

"Sellaband artist Julia Marcell, mentions Regina in her song; Jack The Ripoff. In the line; 'And I Sound Like Regina Spektor At Times'."

See for yourself! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regina_Spektor

Aug 27 2007

Bartek has written a very interesting article about web communities that gather investors, in which he mentions Sellaband and me! If you know Polish you can read it here:

http://www.webstop.pl/2007/08/27/user-generated-equity-zainwestuj-w-muzyke-lub-klub-futbolowy/

Also I'm featured on "Don't panic, we are from Poland" blog once again. This time it's an article about DIY cd making and Sellaband is also in the spotligh. Again for Polish readers only:

http://wearefrompoland.blogspot.com/2007/08/jak-pierwsz-wyda-pyt-sposb-1-diy.html

And one more thing, this time in English! The half Polish, half Portugal website dedicated to promoting young bands and artists features a great article about me and my Sellaband activity as well - check this out:

http://musicplpt.blogspot.com/2007/08/under-radar-with-julia-marcell-pl.html

Aug 22 2007
Ok guys, time for a change. I just uploaded new song called "Carousel". Beware cause it's recorded on very basic equipment in home conditions - I just sat to my cheap digital piano and recorded what came out of me on a cheap microphone ha ha ;). But I thought it would be a good idea to show you something raw this time, cause in the end, if you like it like this, you'll like it even more when it's recorded professionally. Tell me what you think.

Aug 21 2007
Working hard on my new material, I thought I'll let you guys have a peak of what I'm doing. In the "Shows" section^  I've put my 50k plan, so you can have a clear idea of what I will do if I get to hit the goal.
As some of you already know, in September I go to visit Bauke van der Laaken (one of the producers of the Nemesea's album) to do some arrangements of my new songs. We've done some cool stuff over the internet, so I'm really thrilled what will come out if we meet in person. Keep your fingers crossed. :)

Many of you ask me about shows - will I play any in the near future. Well... I don't want to make you all come to Poland to be able to see me ;). I'm currently trying to find some nice venues, so if you know any friendly club (preferably in Amsterdam, London or Paris) that would enjoy my kind of music and could book me on autumn/winter, please let me know. I'd love to finally get out of my hut and sing for you all.

Aug 16 2007
I'm back home! Tired and with tons of great memories and inspirations. Guess what was the first thing I did when I came back home - I sat to the piano. I missed it so much. Now Sellaband was the second thing. It's such a mess now, so many unanswered messages and comments, how can I keep up with all this now? It's gonna be hard work I guess, ha ha ;) Thank you everyone for staying with me, when I was away - it's so great to have you all. :)

Too bad it's too late to go to Sellabration, but my spirit will be there with you. I'm gonna raise a glass of soju (korean alcohol) to toast for Sellaband. "Konbe!" and HAPPY BIRTHDAY SELLABAND!!! :)

And last but not least, check out this great blog entry by Peatnik:
http://bottom-end.blogspot.com/2007/08/sellabandyear-one.html

Aug 14 2007
Check out some photos from Seoul - only two now, but soon I'll have more.
Plus I have some great news!  The lovely people from Florida based band called _SLEEPeR covered my song "Accordion Player". I simply love their version and wanted to let you all know so that you can listen to it too.
Here it is:

Aug 11 2007
Seoul is amazing. I've met some really wonderful people who became my friends in just few day. Koreans are very open, kind and bright people and boy, do they like to party a lot ;) - we're out almost every night, staying till late hours in the downtown.  They didn't allow me to play the hotel's piano in the end, so I feel kind of like a drug addict with no drugs for a long time ha ha ;) My hand die to be laid down on a piano keyboard. Instead I make spontanious beatbox collaborations and sing songs with my friends - "I'm too sexy" is especially popular among us these days ;) I've seen some traditional Korean performers playing drums and flute and other instruments I can't really name, and I was very touched by their music. It's so much different than what we're used to listen to, it seems to follow it's own rules. I'll try to get a CD to experience more of it, I think it can change the way songwritter approaches music, it's really influential.

Aug 5 2007

I've reached Seoul safely, I'm at the hotel and it's 11p.m. here. It's been one exhausting day. I haven't seen much of Korea yet, but I'm looking forward to it, it's gonna be exciting. But for now I must get some sleep, or I'll drop dead ;)
PS. I've spoted a beautifull grand piano in the hotel and felt a big urge to play it. Not sure if they'll let me, but I'll try. :)

On August 4th I'm leaving for a long ago planned trip to South Korea (I'm so excited! :), so I won't be on Sellaband a lot for these two weeks. I will be very busy and won't have internet access for the most of the time, but I'll log in and check messages as often as I'll be able to. It also means that unfortunatelly I won't be able to send you the CDs in that time, so if you order it, or buy 3 parts, please bear that in mind. But hey, I won't be gone forever. :)

Aug 1 2007
I wake up to see 20k - it's unbelievable! Why do I always miss my own party? I'm rehearsing with my string quartet now and yesterday evening we celebrated 19k - how ironic. ;)
Oh, and the new Tribune - I'm so excited to be there, check it out if you still haven't, although it's highly unlikely.

More Radio Simone FM news! Again thanks to Johan Jongerius my song "Accordion Player" will be in "De gouden vijf" (= The golden five)!
It's best to explain it in Johan's own words: "This is a top 5 made by the listeners of Simone FM. Accordion player will be in the top 5, 'till a listener votes it away. Every Monday 'till Friday at about 18:45 (GMT +01:00) a listener may say which artist has to leave and enter a new song.
So all Dutch speaking people, help to keep Julia in the top 5, because the longer Julia is in, the more often she will be played, the higher she gets on the charts list of the year and the more advertising for SAB. Listen every Monday 'till Friday between 16:00 en 19:00 (GMT +01:00).

In the northern part of the Netherlands you can listen to Simone FM on every radio. Others can listen via http://www.simone.nl
To see the top 5 and the charts list of the year, click on "De gouden vijf".

For those who want to listen to the broadcast of today: http://www.linknaarlinux.tk/sab-op-simone4.mp3 "

Thanks to Johan Jongerius I was in Radio Simone FM in the broadcast dedicated to SAB! You can download it here (hopefully if you're Dutch you'll understand more than me ;) And here's a forum topic about the show.

The FlabberM poll for best Sellaband song is live! Im in the competition among great bands and artists like  Bim, Solidtube, Jonatan Cerrada Moreno and  Lorraine Jones - as you can see, it's tought! The winner gets 25 parts from FlabberM. It would be really awesome if you could help me out with this one and vote for me! (the poll is on the dark grey area on the right) :)

Jul 22 2007
Thanks to Hogdaddee I'm now "IN THE MIX" at Hogdaddee's Farm - check it out! :)

Ok, I left for 2 days for some family business... 2 days! I come back and what do I see?
- a different Believers layout
- $14440!
- comments saying I'm on page one!
Yes, I think "Wa Wa Wee Wa" is the right word here Arnis ;)
I'm so happy! And dizzy of all this! Thank you so much Everyone!

Oh, and one more thing! I got an email from
Dagmar saying I will be in  flabberm.nl Sellaband poll next Monday! According to the email, "they post the poll on their website, including snippets of a song of every artist and a link to your SellaBand page. Members of Flabberm can vote and the artist that attracted the most votes  after 4 weeks, gets 5 Parts of Flabberm and a story about the artist on Flabberm.nl". Isn't that great? If you are a member of Flabberm, or know somebody who is, please spread the word and consider voting for me. :)

RealityWeaver sent me a great quote from Terry Pratchett that I think describes perfectly how I feel now about my SAB experience:

"The Supreme Grand Master listened to this with a slightly light-headed feeling. It was as if he'd known that there were such things as avalanches, but had never dreamed when he dropped the little snowball on top of the mountain that it could lead to such astonishing results."

Don't you think it's surprisingly adequate to the situation?

Jul 11 2007

My music sessions with the string quartet just started - we are working hard arranging and practicing my new songs. We might even record some demos by the end of July, but that's not yet sure. That's why I'm away most of the time these days and I have little  time to respond to your lovely comments and messages. But keep them coming, I'll respond to all, but a bit later than usually (but just a bit! :)

In other news: Thomas Henry Michta has made a beautifull webpage dedicated to my music. My first ever fansite! :) Take a look!

Oh, and one more thing: no.1 in charts this week!!! Woohoo! You are amazing! :)

Polish blog "Don't panic we're from Poland" reviewed my ep "Storm" and it's the first, full lenght review my music ever received. It's written in Polish so for those of you who won't understand it, I'll try to make a very quick overview of what was written:
- I'm being compared mostly to Tori Amos, but also Joanna Newson, Regina Spektor and Polish artist Edyta Geppert are mentioned.
- I'm being called "a new thing" in the Polish music scene for being a DIY singer-songwritter, and those we still don't have many
- My cd ep, they say, is very professionally done and has a lovely cover :)
- My songs, they say, are simple and honest with natural emotion, but also leaning towards complex suites
- And lastly they say, I have the chance to cause more than a little local hype and they would like to hear more from me.

It's a great feeling to read such nice review of my own music I tell you! :)

07 07 07 :)
...is the day I reached 3k on Sellaband!!! Damn, I didn't even finish to celebrate 1k and 2k! ;) Thank you Everyone so much!

To describe yesterday as "a warm welcome" it's not enough. I didn't expect to get so much feedback in just one day! It appears I even made it to club charts: on July 3rd I was:

#1 most played artists

#2 biggest gainers

#4, #5 and #10 most played tracks

(thanks Patrick for the stats!)

Thank you so much everyone, all my Believers and kind Artists who left all those lovely comments. Special thanks to Li (your forum topic makes me blush!), Patrick for featuring me on his page, Roy for helping me out with Last.fm, all my "myspacers" and all those who decided to sign up after my newsletter (see - I told you it's a great place to be at). Thank you for believing.

In the meantime if you are into dance music and electro, you might wanna check out the awesome remix of my song "Accordion Player" done by People Theatre! It's available here for free download. Enjoy! :)

And happy Independence Day to all United States residents. :)

I just decided to give Sellaband a try. I think the idea is wonderfull to have people investing in music and making some profit of it, it's truly revolutionary. Like a stock market but with the passion for music. Brilliant!

I'll keep you updated if anything happens in my musical life (like a show, a video, a remix, or anything else, really). For now I'm exploring the site, learning new things and discovering wonderfull music.

All the best to all of you Artists and Believers

Well, what can I say? Best album I heard since long, much more than expected. And that is even after my expectations were already that high after Storm EP!
