“…definately a star in the making” BBC Radio.
So far undiscovered, Juliana Meyer has been gaining popularity across the internet airwaves from loyal music fans around the world. A DIY artist, she has so far done everything herself, releasing her self-produced debut album in 2007 on her own label. Well received, the success of the album led to an invitation to perform at the BBC Gala Show for BBC TV1’s Children In Need, where she performed alongside music legends.

Beginning to attract attention from the industry, her loyal fans and our ever changing world remain the inspiration to her prolific songwriting and she is currently in preparations to record her next studio album.

"Refreshingly original ...calm and haunting ...undeniable song- writing talent" TopOfTheOx

"Juliana is a breath of fresh air. You could hear a pin drop throughout her set." The Melting Pot

"Juliana not only looks like an angel she sings like one live! She's definitely a star in the making. I've had the pleasure to interview Amy Winehouse, Katherine Jenkins and Katie Melua just before they 'broke' and I predict Juliana is heading in the same direction" Sadie Nine, BBC Radio

"One of our leading Singer-Songwriters" Stephen Foster, BBC Radio

"Rich and evocative... What sets this record out from most debuts is the eclectic musical craftsmanship that has gone into it" Evening Gazette

"Powerful lyrics and clever melodies... a very talented entertainer with a good image and songs to boot. Value for money? We should say so!!...." The Winelight Club

"Juliana brings musical richness to live performances through brilliant inventions on the guitar - outstanding player" Healthy Concerts

"Multi-instrumentalist-producer-performer-songwriter Juliana Meyer has delivered... a cocktail that starts off smooth, but delivers a wicked kick." Fatea

"Sincerity, originality and variety all show their face in Juliana's music" OxStu

"Juliana's commitment to her music is to be admired. Children In Need will cap a great year for Juliana Meyer" Evening Star

"Great talent: Singer and guitarist destined for stardom" EA Daily Times

Glastonbury, Radio, RockNRoots, and festival fun!!

-We've just got back from our performances at GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL and had an awesome time!

The Festival tour has been going really well, kicking it off earlier this month with a Headline Gig on the Barn Stage at the BBC Sponsored BEACH BREAK LIVE FESTIVAL in Cornwall.

-If you've not been able to make it along to any Festivals so far and would like to, fear not for there are some, big and small, coming your way! (If you live near Ipswich, Herefordshire, Oxfordshire, Aylesbury, Berkshire, London that is!)

-There are still early-bird tickets available for the ROCKNROOTS FESTIVAL (Bank Holiday Weekend Aug 23-25 Nr Ledbury, Herefordshire) or I have a very limited allocation, so if you're quick I might be able to sort you out a discounted ticket.

I'll be performing on the Main Stage alongside acts such as The Animals, Cerys Matthews (Catatonia), Jefferson Starship, Steve Cropper, Chicken Shack, and many other legendary artists from the 60's and 70's!!

Don't miss this great new festival!! http://www.rocknroots.co.uk/lineupsat.html (Early bird tickets £90 available until 31 July)

This week I'll be in Oxford and Suffolk...

-This Sunday (6th July) is IPSWICH MUSIC DAY - a free day out for all the family in Christ Church Park. 6 Stages and great Suffolk Acts, I'll be kicking off the day with a lunchtime slot at 1pm on The Acoustic Stage. It's my only Suffolk gig this summer until The Quay Theatre Gig in September so it'll be great to see loads of you there!

(TUNE IN TO BBC RADIO ESSEX ON FRIDAY AT 3PM FOR MY INTERVIEW WITH STEVE SCRUTON http://www.bbc.co.uk/essex/local_radio/index.shtml)

-Tomorrow (3rd July) I'll be doing a sneaky show in Oxford at the Port Mahon on St Clements. I've been missing playing in Oxford so I thought I'd throw this one into the tour. Only £3 to get in I'll be headlining on stage just before 10pm.

- The same goes for London - been missing playing there too so I'll be there on Fri July 25th at Jamie's Bar in W1. Yummy food and chilled out music it's a great way to end a hectic week! (it's my only London gig this summer - let me know if you want to reserve a table) (Well, only gig apart from a gig at The Houses of Parliament! Woop!)

Then on to ARCANE FESTIVAL in Oxfordshire 2-3 Aug

And HOBBLE ON THE COBBLES in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire 24 Aug

That's probably enough to keep you going!

I'll post some video and photos from the festivals asap, so keep your eyes peeled on the websites / sign up to the blog :)

I love the summer!

Lots of love,

Juliana xx

I'm getting really excited now about all the new stuff which is written but not yet recorded!!
You can hear exclusive performances of the new material at some Summer Festivals coming up, including BEACH BREAK LIVE FESTIVAL in Cornwall in June (Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, The Wombats, Mr Scruff, Scratch Perverts http://www.beachbreaklive.com ), and the ROCKNROOTS FESTIVAL in Herefordshire in August (The Animals, Steve Cropper http://www.rocknroots.co.uk )

just in... new Album Review

"The term "singer-songwriter" doesn't really do justice to the powerhouse known as Juliana Meyer. On Holding Up the Sky, her first album, she plays almost all the instruments (including guitar, cello, mandolin, double bass and glockenspiel) as well as doing the engineering and mixing, in addition to the usual singing and songwriting duties.
It's an impressive and polished debut. Meyer's voice is sweet, strong and clear. Lyrically, the album is about the standard singer-songwriter fare: relationships, emotional ups and downs, a desire for self expression and so on, with an excursion into politics on 'Making profits selling rockets'. There are echoes of Joni Mitchell and Alanis Morissette.
...Meyer is clearly on the verge of joining Katie Melua and Natasha Bedingfield in the pantheon of sweet-voiced young British stars. No aspiring artist ever went wrong by being too easy on the ear; being beautiful, young and multi-talented never hurt anyone's chances either. She might "feel like a square inside a circle" sometimes, but Juliana Meyer is going to fit in just fine."

Charity Song

You can now hear the song I have written for Suffolk's Holocaust Memorial Day and download it free at
www.JulianaMeyer.com/charity
where there are more details about the event and the option to donate to the Suffolk Refugee Support Forum if you can

You can also listen to a report and interview on BBC Radio Suffolk which was chosen as 'Click of the Day' last Tuesday, and it was on the BBC News Homepage for England earlier today
Also, listen out for the song this month on the region's radio stations.

The song will be part of their exhibition this weekend, and will also be used to raise money for the Suffolk Refugee Support Forum who do vital work for the community and are in desperate need of funds.

I'll be performing 'Never Again' at the proceedings this Sunday 12 noon at the Ipswich Corn Exchange, joined with Capella Nova children's choir (who were recently heard on BBC Radio 4) who will be singing the song with me. Entry to both are free and all are welcome!

Following the succesful launch of my Debut Album 'Holding Up The Sky' earlier this year, the album now has worldwide digital distribution, and you can download it from ITUNES or your favourite download site, anywhere in the world!

There are not many left now of the limited edition copies of the album in a beautiful card digipack with 12-page booklet and beautiful artwork (by Illustrator Caroline Ayello Wright), so if you want one for that stocking filler, visit the store at http://www.JulianaMeyer.com or the link here on myspace.
... and message me if you want me to sign it with a special note :)

Wishing you all fun and love,

Dec 3rd 2007
Hi Everyone,

Well, it's been an amazing month this November, with nominations for BEST SOLO ARTIST and BEST ORIGINAL ACT in the TopOfTheOx Awards, and being asked to perform in the BBC Gala Show for Children In Need for BBC1.

There have been loads of feature articles in the papers and along with interviews on several BBC Radio Stations, performing live acoustic sets. Also, look out for the Editorial Profile in Full House Magazine this month.

And of course I've been busy with loads of live shows, as well as getting back into the studio on a project which I'll tell you more about soon.

So it's been busy busy, and I haven't had much time to spend here on Sellaband.
I thought I'd ammend this by putting up a new track from my debut album... We're All The Same

“With its tabla-driven percussion, haunting instrumentals, and Juliana's lovely voice singing a message of universal Oneness, this is the standout track for me on this album.” Aimie St Rec

I'd love to know what you think :)

Thanks!
love
Juliana xx
