Info
Hi everyone,
Fire Escape was chosen as one of the top 3 demo songs of the month on Utracks (the online radio station for 3voor 12 Utrecht). The reasoning for choosing it was explained in an accompanying article. For you Dutch-speakers, the article can be found here.
We were recently featured as Talent of the Week on a Dutch website (www.ongekendtalent.nl) for unsigned bands. They had some really nice things to say about us:
"The music of the Dutch-American band Lightwires is raw, intimate, romantic and has more than enough charm and hooks to keep you listening for a long time. Upon hearing the music, we immediately thought of indie rock heroes like Cold War Kids and Mark Eitzel. We are fans, now you will be too."
About Lightwires
Taking their name from a line in the book 'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy, the Lightwires blend impressive musicianship, inventive melodies and sonic experimentation into tight songs. They demonstrate a wide range of influences, from the Beatles to Radiohead to TV on the Radio to Herbert, while still writing refreshingly unique music.
Having discovered common musical interests, multi-instrumentalist Jeff Taylor and singer/guitarist Jon Herbach began writing and recording music together as Animist Trance in early 2006. Small acoustic performances soon followed garnering praise from audiences and establishing them as emerging talents in the Dutch music scene.
The band was recently joined by drummer Sjoerd van der Sanden. An accomplished drummer, Van der Sanden has played in several bands and has a background in electronic music.
The music of the Lightwires maintains an alternative, indie rock heart and combines this with sharp hooks and insightful lyrics. However, with strong imaginations and diverse tastes, the band’s output remains unpredictable and exciting and leaves the listener eagerly anticipating the next release.

Howdy!
Just wanted to pop in and give you a heads up on Sommersby's October Competition!
If you haven't already heard, the competition (hot on the heels of his recent neck-in-neck September fiesta) will offer 20 parts for the winner and is open to all artists that have between $9999 and $0 in budget.
Please check the forum for updates on contest rules and regs….starts 25 October!
This is a great opportunity for you. Campaign with the believers to let them know you'd like to be nominated and encourage them to vote for you when the time comes.
Of course, if you'd like to, or you know someone who would like to, donate parts for the prizes in the Competition, just send (or have them send) Sommersby the details under a message marked “October Donation."
Hope you join in on the fun and GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!
