Dear Believers,

Big thanks for checking us out!  We really hope you like what you hear, and that you consider investing some of your hard earned $$'s in us!  Up to now we have done everything ourselves, which is very tough, but also very rewarding.  We are really excited about sharing this challenge with you!

All the best,
Dan C, Steve, Dan H, Anthony, Matt

Our Very Special Offer ;-)

For Believers who believe in us enough to invest in 5 or more parts... when we've reached our total of 5000 parts, we will send you a very special signed copy of our limited edition E.P (pro pressed digipak) "The Lock-Up Sessions Vol.1" and an exclusive pin badge to celebrate the special occasion! :-D

About Us:

Lone Pine is

Dan Catherall - Lead Vocals, Guitars, Harmonica
Steve Honeywill - Lead Guitars, Lapsteel
Daniel Holloway - Bass, Vocals
Sancho Panza - Drums, Percussion
Matthew Williamson - Keys, Vocals, Guitar, Sax, Mandolin

Our website: www.lone-pine.co.uk
Our myspace: www.myspace.com/lonepine

We're extemely passionate about making true, heartfelt music, that we hope people can really connect with, if we don't feel it, we don't do it!  As a band we are very dedicated to keeping things moving forward and do not want to just sit around waiting for a label to come along and make it all possible for us, which of course would be lovely!  :-D

At present we are trying hard to produce our debut album.  At the moment it's a fully self-produced, self-financed project, so it might take a little while, as we're having to battle against all the fun and joy that comes from having to work for a living! :-(  In 2006 we self-produced and self-released a 6-track E.P "The Lock-Up Sessions Vol.1" on our own label Sweet Life Records.  The E.P is available to buy at our website store here or to download via i-tunes.

Essentially we feel that all we need, is to find people who really believe in us and what we do, and would like to try and help us open a few doors!

Lone Pine's Official Biography:

Following a very low key self-released 6-track EP at the start of 2006, awarded 8/10 by Whisperin' and Hollerin' who decribed it as "defiantly glorious roots flavoured rock 'n' roll", Cardiff 5-piece Lone Pine are currently recording tracks for our debut full-length with producer Charlie Francis (REM, Robyn Hitchcock, Minus 5 and Wilco). Victoria Williams (who has worked with Neil Young and Lou Reed amongst others) has already put down vocals on two songs being considered for the record, captured just before the Mark Olson and the Creekdippers shows Steve and I did earlier in the year.

Since their inception Lone Pine have traveled the width and breadth of the UK, playing two Green Man Festivals (alongside Bonnie Prince Billy, Joanna Newsom, Adem etc) and short tours with a host of Uncut and broadsheet favourites including American Music Club, Richmond Fontaine, The Radar Bros, The Redlands Palomino Co. and rockier bands on labels such as
Rough Trade, Secretly Canadian and Sub Pop.

"that resonant, Levon Helmish voice goes down like a cool swig of Southern Comfort. Country rock with balls."
(Charley Dunlap, Bath Chronicle)

"In the zone of excellence" Noel Gardner (Rocksound Magazine)

"Rootsy, country tinged rock 'n' roll in the manner of Wilco, The Jayhawks and the like, all beautifully executed too"
(Venue Magazine)

"Simply great songs that Mick and Keef would be proud of…Wales’ best kept secret for to long" (soundsnew.com)

Added new shows during October and November, including the previously mentioned John Prine support slot. Would be great to catch up with any of you there. Also uploaded the video of Ain't Good for Nothin' from The Hold Steady gig in August for you to feast your eyes and ears upon.

Enjoy the weekend - it'll soon be Monday!

Hey y'all...
At the moment we are working on an acoustic(ish), stripped down set for the show we have with the fantastic Mr John Prine (19th Oct - Parc & Dare, Treorchy)
Theres still bass and drums (easy now!) and keys and and lapsteel and of course, guitars and even possibly some sax in there too, so its not just Dan n Steve with a couple of acoustics, a warm beer and a lost look in thier eyes.
After practice in Musicbox last night, it was sounding very nice indeed and a refreshing change from our recent "rockist" sets. Dont worry, we aint gone totally soft, "smooth", maybe but not soft.
It's something we shoulda worked on a long time ago cos it's always nice to sit back and play a chilled out set of songs given the right setting.

So if you fancy a quite unique evening out (John Prine in Treorchy?...Thats unique on its own)
Come along on the 19th, its a Friday so what the heck hu?

Keep it "smooth" now
Sancho
& Lone Pine

Hey everybody, Hope you're all well. Thanks for all the support and messages, we're hoping to get some new material up here very soon so keep a look out!  In the meantime, check out our Myspace page - www.myspace.com/lonepine - for a couple of live videos of Lone Pine at The Point in Cardiff, supporting THE HOLD STEADY.

For a rather different but equally exciting show, we'll be stripping things down for a rare acoustic set opening for the legendary multi Grammy winning John Prine in a few weeks. Details of that are on the Myspace also... exciting times...

Keep on believin'
Steve / LP x

Hey Girls and Boys!
Hope you're fine ;-)
I'm pretty excited at the moment as we're in the studio tonight. We're recording a track (Workingman's Palace) for a Jon Langford tribute album. He's originally from Newport, which is just down the road from us here in Cardiff.  He's already done the artwork for it, and it should be getting released in the near future. Should be a good night!
Take care,
Dan C - Lone Pine

Hey everybody!
Thought it was time for ME to put a bit of money where my mouth is ;-), considering that, when we achieve this, it will be a fantastic experience for me personally!  I'm Really excited about the idea of gettig to work in a top studio with top producers.  I've started off with $200 but I'll try my best to put in more, as I manage to get hold of some more money :-\...and as we find more of you! ;-)
Off to London tomorrow with Steve, to do an acoustic show, should be good. I'll let you know how it goes.

All the best,
Dan C - Lone Pine

p.s I wonder who's gonna get us to our first $1000 ??

Dear all you wonderful LP Believers, hope you're good! :-)

I just wanted to say sorry that I haven't been online in the last couple of days, due to my PC crashing! :-(  Luckely I had saved most of my important stuff...music, pictures, on my 2nd hardrive! :-)

I was dying to know what was going on, and was REALLY chuffed when my dad phoned on Tuesday saying we were number 17 in the charts! :-D  Thanks again to all of you :-)

Speak soon,

All the best!

Dan C - Lone Pine

Lone Pine make very good music
Richard Markham - go Black Jack! 28.07.07 1
Experienced all-male South Wales based country/US-style rockers with a varied repertoire (based on four tracks here) and suitably careworn lead vocal.  They can rock out Stones-style when necessary but also convince in the more reflective material. Technically very good too - they've definitely got that something.
