Majuana, well, don't get it the wrong way, our former name was Mamajuana, but there was a band with that name so we decided we had to change the name to MAJUANA.
We've played many genres, but the one we like the most is rock, eventhough it's in spanish we've actually begun to write some songs in english with some latin swing!
The band saw the world for the first time in February 2000, where lead singer Christian Restrepo met Jorge Paz, the drum player, back then we had an alternative tendency, so everything we did was in english obviously, and sometime too heavy for a mainstream band.
After we saw that if we wanted to last in this industry we had to practice allot, we had to be very patient, and we couldn't fall down once and give up.
After a few years playing in local crossover music clubs we begun to give our sound a direction, experimenting with latin sounds and adding funk (courtesy of Pacho Rodriguez our bass player), sometime hardcore and ballads with breath taking guitar solos (a signature of Willy martinez) all of these on the rock based drums of Jorge Paz
The singer Christian Restrepo (Former model and graphic designer) has been influenced basically by almost every kind of blues based rock. He gets he`s ripping voice to energize parts of his songs, and uses his latin roots to spice the rhythms....
