The 24 hours before the GPNL showcase were killing. I was focussing on the contest and was afraid I would become too nervous to do my thing. Being with my wife and daughter on my way to Amsterdam helped me to let go the tension.
Then the moment I entered the Meander I was relaxed and I started to enjoy. Seeing other singer songwriters again was great and the atmosphere at the Meander is relaxed. There were a lot of friends/family to see me perform and I felt proud and happy.
I performed This Song, Al l Need and I'm Gonna Make a Change, and the audience reacted enthousiastic.
Today I received the report of the jury. I'll publish it later when I've translated it!

June 12 2008 GROTE PRIJS VAN NEDERLAND 2008
Come and see me perform among other singer songwriters during the Grote Prijs Van Nederland Showcase. 40 contestants will perform in a couple of showcases. 12 will be invited to the semi-finale later this year. The Finale of the Grote Prijs van Nederland will be held in November in Paradiso Amsterdam.

Last saturday I performed at a cultural day in Huizen (N-H). a Friend of mine had asked me. She's an inspiring painting artist. It was a fun thing to do and I met some nice people. Great!
During my performance, people were really listening. I had to smile though when my eyes crossed my children. Their looks told me they'd rather be somewhere else! Funny! Gaby, my wife had been enjoying the performance, confirming the feeling I had.

When I got home I saw that I had received an e-mail of the Grote Prijs van Nederland, a national music contest. The jury has chosen me to perform at a showcase on the 20th of June in the Meander in Amsterdam. If I get through there, I'll be performing at the semi-finale GROTE PRIJS VAN NEDERLAND 2008 !!!

Just got a great invitation of Caya to perform on the 12th of april in Almelo among a lot of Sellaband artists! looking forward to meeting Casper and Sheila again and see how Radius is doing.
Anxious to meet new musicians and believers.
Coming wednesday february 27 I'll be hosting another Songsalive Showcase in Amsterdam. We've moved this monthly event to the forth wednesday of each month to cafe Sappho on the Vijzelstraat 103 1077 HH Amsterdam. This months showcase we'll have Rene Kaaij, Lily Kiara and me performing our songs in this great semi acoustic setting, cafe Sappho. It start about 8 pm and goes on till 10.30 pm. We had really good songs yesterday night at The Last Waterhole on the Songsalive! Showcase. Edwin van der Hoeve, leading man of Leave, really knows how to play his guitar and he has a great voice and good songs. I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing him perform during the Singer Songwriters day at Theater de Steeg for Acoustic Alley in The Hague. Joost Dobbe has a natural way of singing and performing. Impressive voice and good songs. I had been performing with him in Amsterdam before, at the Tricky Theatre near Central Station Amsterdam. Unfortunately, Lukas Batteau couldn't perform due to illness.
Next Songsalive Showcase will be the 27th of february at café Sappho. Be there and singer songwriters, apply for our Songsalive Showcases!!

Again I performed at Theater De Steeg for Acoustic Alley. This time I was the supporting act for John Watts leading man of former band Fischer-Z. The tickets were sold out and I was lucky to get this chance. I gave a perfomance I'm very very proud of.

Singer Songwritersday at Acoustic Alley The Hague with a.o. Merel Hutten, Edo Donkers, Leave. It was a great day in a great place. Theater de Steeg onm Westeinde 126a is definately the place for singer songwriters to perform. It's nice 'n cosy and the sound is very good.

We had our third Songsalive Showcase Amsterdam yesterday, with Rick Bockner, Caya ( the great guitarplayer Casper van Vulpen and his new partner Sheila Timmerman) and me. Joost Dobbe had to cancell his perfomance due to illness. It was a fantastic musical event. The talented Caya gave a hell of a performance. Rick Bockner fingerpicked his original '56 Gibson elegantly and I performed a couple of my favourite songs.The Last Waterhole was the venue. It can grow with the help of you. Come to the monthly showcase, every 4th monday of each month.
Next one January 28th at 8 pm. Be there. You're a singer songwriter?

About me
I started playing guitar at the age of 14. I grew up in a family with 13 children with music being one of the major binding elements. Lots of music passed by. With money earned by delivering the morning newspaper I bought my first record: the soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever by the Bee Gees. I listened to Gino Vannelli and instrumental Fusion & Jazz-rock. While delivering newspapers he sang songs of James Taylor, Stephen Bishop and Kenny Loggins, knowing every lyric by heart.
The music of Marcel Luntungan is emotional and melodic. His voice hits you in the guts. The lyrics speak of his search for his inner voice and his experiences while doing so. His guitar play accompanies his voice, but his love for piano is clear as well. www.luntungan.com

December the 12th
Dear people,
Yesterday I played at the Rode Pimpernel in Den Bosch. Iwas the support act for Caroline Aiken , a stunning performance that lady did over there. The venue was superb, intimate and friendly, packed with music lovers.
I really felt grateful to be her supporting act. Peter Paul was the programmer, and he did a teriffic job. I'd like to perform there again. I was a little bit nervous and impressed by Caroline, but the reactions were great!

Dear people,
It's been a busy time with a couple of good performances.
Last weekend I performed during a private party. Half of the repertoire were covers and the second part mainly own material. These great people appeared to be loving my voice, guitarplay and songs!! I felt gratefull for being there and performing for these folks in their home.
Next week I'll be performing during The Night of The Singing Poets in the Tricky Theatre. Be there!

I played at a Songsalive Showcase at the Last Waterhole last week together with Jack & Jasmine and John Spijker. Rory Campbell is the programmer of this venue and ther's live music everynight. Entrance 1 euro!
It was great to see Jack & Jasmine play, great songs and great lyrics. John Spijker had strong performance with great songs.
Be there at the next Showcase: The fourth tuesday of september, october, november etc etc.

Dear people,
Last weekend the UITMARKT was on in Amsterdam, a big festival to cellabrate the start of the new cultural season. There were more than 30 stages spread over the eastern part of Amsterdam. Lots of music and plays were on stage. I played too, but on the one stage which was not on the official list! At first going over there was difficult as I couldn't find it. I was looking for a stage out in the open air. It was a beautifull sunny saturday.
In the end I found it! It was a boat near the central railwaystation.
The atmosphere was very relaxed, but the stage was inside the boat. People walking by could almost not hear me playing I think. But I played and gave it my best shot. It was fun to do, so I arranged with Woedy, the owner of the place, to come and do it again the next day. For a couple of beers and a delicious pancake with bacon and cheese as my fee for the gig!
I'll be back! Tomorrow I'll be hosting a Songsalive Showcase in Amsterdam, in the Last Waterhole korte leidsedwarsstraat 49. Jack & Jasmine, John Spijker and me will be performing a couple of songs between 8 and 10 pm.

Dear people, Thanks for buying extra parts. Great to see that performing gives me the opportunity to grow and to get the connection I want and need. Come and visit the Amsterdam UItmarkt on the 25th of August. I'll be playing there at the Tricky Theater from 1500 till 1530 hrs. Just me and my guitar. I am hoping to meet some musicians who would like to play with me eventually. Bye! Also look up Backbone, Radius, Snelle Fellas at Sellaband. Great music, great guys.

Dear people, did you go to Sellabration last night? I was pleased to see Cubworld play and I enjoyed Backbone as a pleasant surprise in the smaller but great room upstairs at Paradiso. Great band, great voice and solid blues! The day before I played on stage at the Winston Kingdom Club in the Warmoestraat in the heart of the Red Light District of Amsterdam. Johan of Radius had arranged the Pre-Sellabration, one of the good things coming from Sellaband artists. I gave it my best shot and was able to hear and see the guys from Snelle Fellas. Very sympathetic band and cheerful music. Unfortunately I had to catch the train home just after midnight, so I missed the performance of Radius! Hope to see them again soon.
Next gig is the 28th of august in The Last Waterhole, Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 49 Amsterdam during a Songsalive Showcase.

Dear people, I've had a great time at Almelo Meets Nashville, arranged by Casper van Vulpen of Caya. I'v enjoyed great performances of Hot Club de Nashville, Thom Bresh & Buster B. Jones, Thomas Blug, Mandyleigh Storm and Caya. Plaing in Cafe De Stam & Solera was great and meeting a couple of Sellaband Believers was a totally new experience for me. I felt a little strange but gratefull when I was asked to sign CD's!! abig honour. I hope you'll enjoy this cd which I recorded in my homestudio in one take.
I feel excited to play at the Winston Club with Radius and Snelle Fellas coming wednesday in Amsterdam! See you later!

Well I'm so glad Des'ray is helping me getting my performance up to the max! The first of june I performed for the believers at SBS Broadcasting, The dutch commercial television company in Amsterdam. It was fun and helpfull to do. Next week, june the 16th, I'll be performing in the Meander in Amsterdam during a singer-songwriter evening from 8.30-11 pm. I'm the last to play! Orfeo arranged this evening. We were in the same dutch music competition in 2001, the Grote Prijs van Nederland / singer-songwriter.

I did a performance at the GPNL a annual Dutch music contest, three of my favourite songs. I had a great time as I felt good and confident in performing. I gave it my best shot. The jury was formed by two members and they have made a report on each artist.

Selamat malam, appa kabar? Meen je niet, ik dacht dat je al veel meer geld bij elkaar gesprokkeld had. Je hebt iig wel veel optredens zeg. Gaaf!
We waren om 4 uur thuis, ik was helemaal niet zo moe en rijden viel me gelukkig reuze mee. Volgende dag nog lekker rustig aan en toen kwamen de kinderen hahaha, heerlijk om ze weer te zien. Zoonlief was nog wat koppig en boos op mij omdat ik hem zomaar alleen had gelaten, maar draaide later bij en ik werd bedolven met kusjes. Lief toch!
Ik vind je maatschappij kritische teksten erg te gek en ben blij dat er mensen zijn die doet soort muziek maken (toch moet je mijn broer eens ontmoeten haha)
