This is the official SellaBand site of Marc Miner - a country-musician who've seen almost the whole world, soaked up the worlds most wonderful melodies until he stuck in Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Unfortunately he was accused of gambling and so he had to leave the wonderful United States!

Back in good ol' Europe - where Miner spent the most of his life - he finally settled down in Vienna - the city of music. Here he does what he can do best - gambling - and from time to time he steps in front of a drunken crowed to perform the worlds finest melodies.

Be part of the Marc Miner SellaBand community and witness the development of the greatest fameless country-singer in the history of music!

COPETITION FINAL
27th Sep. 08

He he... Last Thursday I played at the KuG Center in Vienna. I thought this is going to be an ordinary gig, but it turned out to be a "songwriter-competition" with other songwriters from Vienna - and I won the first round! So I'm going to play at the final on 17th October again at the KuG Center in Floridsdorf/Vienna. For those of you who can make it, I'd be very happy to see you there and if you like what you hear just vote for me!

Bye
Marc

GIGGING
23th Sep. 08

Ok, I know I wasn't really very active here the last few days and I'm really starting wondering how other acts do this - I guess I have a lot to learn about internet stuff. But the good thing is that actually I was very active in "real-life". A lot of private gigs and I made a little "booking-tour" - which means I visited some companies to tell them about my music and so I could get some jobs for the already mentioned christmas-parties. I hope that you - the believers - don't get to upset. I do my best to keep things going here. We'll stay in touch!

Bye
Marc

SUMMER'S FADING AWAY
13th Sep. 08

So it's a nice mid-september evening and I decided to stay at home this night and enjoy some good ol' records (now playing: Ricky Skaggs - Nothing Can Hurt You) and this is making me sentimental. I like summer-time there's always something happening and people seem to have a smile on their face... even here in Vienna. :-)

On the other hand Christmas is "coming" and that's when the "business" starts for me. Yesterday I played a nice 6-hours gig in Stockerau near Vienna and I got booked for 3 "company shows" in December. Austrian companies love to make big christmas parties for all their employees - and what's a party without good music? :-) So I always have some good jobs around Christmas - and of course I'll spend some of the money on SAB.

But then again - I can't stand those cold days and the dirty streets... they are so ugly when the beautiful white snow turns into some kind of nasty dark mud. Snow should be forbidden in big cities. :-)

Well that's all... I just wanted to share my thoughts with you.

Have a nice weekend!

Bye
Marc

THINGS ARE CHANGING
31th Aug. 08

Hm, looks like I stuck at 150! :-/ That's too bad - cause I'm working hard on getting better. Maybe my good news will motivate some investors.

Last week was very busy. First of all I made some new photos - some of them are online already - so check them out. And I also met some great musicians and we decided to form a band. We're still looking for a drummer but we had a great time working on our setlist. We will concentrate on some Country & Western classics right now, so we won't play any originals, but this might change one day. And of course I still will play solo gigs in clubs, pubs and parties. I hope you don't mind if I keep you up to date on both projects.

The good thing about meeting new people is that THEY now other people and so the networking goes on and on and on ... and finally I met a guy who will help me with some recordings. I told him about SAB and he was like - ok fine thing - I won't join that thing but you can record some songs at my studio. GREAT, isn't it? It's like having a believer that didn't get a part. :-)

So that's the main news and now I go and buy myself a part in myself to get rid of that $150. I know one part isn't that much, but at the moment that's all I can affort and I also want you to know that I'm serious in reaching the 50k on SAB.

Have a nice sunday
Bye
Marc

BUSINESS PLAN: BACK FROM MOSCOW
20th Aug. 08

Hey, I'm back and still alive! ;-) It's funny that almost everyone I told that I'm going to Moscow to play poker thought that they gonna kill me over there - folks you're watching to much HOLLYWOOD movies! Russians can also be nice people... sometimes! ;-) No really it was a very nice weekend - the tournament was very exciting - but of course I also spent some time for sightseeing and it was fantastic, especially at nights - man, that really kicks ass - the girls, the vodka, the lights - awsome!

So that was the good story... now the bad - I sucked and didn't get the pot and so my "business-plan" ain't gonna work. BUT - and here we go with the good story again - I met some old friends from Belgium in Moscow (you know the world is a village). Some years ago we were jamming in Munich at a little "studio" (it was more like a wooden cabin with some recording gear) and had a lot of good time, drinking, smoking and making ... MUSIC! This morning I got an e-mail from one of them sending me a song we recorded there. I completely forgot this one, but hearing it after some years is much fun. So I thought I put it online for you as a little compensation for the failure of my "business-plan". I hope you like it!

So know your're asking what's plan B? Hm, I never make B-plans in advance because every minute can change your life and you never know what will happen, but I will think about it and let you know as soon as possible!

Enjoy the "Empty Bottle Blues"!

Bye
Marc

BUSINESS PLAN: GOING TO MOSCOW
11th Aug. 08

Last night I sat down and tried to tailor a business plan for SAB as many other acts did. I must confess I've never thought about "marketing plans" and all that sh**. For me it's all about good songs with good stories and putting a lot of love into singing and playing tunes that speak out of my soul and entertain my lovely audience. Of course I'm not sad if I get some bucks for playing... :-) Even musicians get hungry every now and then. ;-)

Well, while I was sitting and thinking about what I COULD OFFER my believers I got a call from my friend. He told me that he's going to Moscow this weekend for a private poker-tournament. You may say I'm crazy but playing poker and singing (and women ;-) ) are the only things in my life I can't live without so I decided to go with my friend - and THAT, my dear friends, is part of my "business-plan". Yeah, I know it sounds risky, but read on - you will be surprised:

I found out what I can offer my believers and maybe-believers - it's easy SONGS!!! The only problem is - I can't afford neither the recording sessions nor the equipment for home-recordings stuff to record all the wonderful music that I picked up on my journey through this world. So my plan is to win the pot in Moscow, come back and record some great traditionals FOR YOU! The details on my "incentives" will be announced as soon I'll have some songs recorded.

I hope this will work and I promise you you'll hear some great country and western tunes!

I'll be back on Tuesday with some cash in my pocket! ;-)

Bye
Marc

VIDEO-BLOG PERFORMANCE: JUDGEMENT DAY
5th Aug. 08

I put my first video-blog performance online. This was my first try so please have mercy on me! ;-) I hope to get better on this with every video.

What you hear is my newest song called "Judgement Day" - it's a story about a girl I used to date some years ago when I was in the USA. She had a very bad childhood because of her father. The whole town was spreading all kinds of weird stories about her - but she was very normal in my opinion - ok, that's not a measure for anything... ;-) We never really talked about it, but sometimes I had the feeling that all the gossip opened old sores every now and then. I never met her father, but I considered how I should or would behave if I get the chance to meet him.

However, I hope you like this little performance. The studio-demo version of this song (with band) will be online soon - so check my profile in a few days!

Drop my a line, how you like it!

Bye
Marc

Marc Miner is a great C&W artist. Johnny Cash is the first name that will come to mind if you listen to his songs. The voice, the timing, the lyrics... We have a new "man in black" here on Sellaband!
