Hi im Maya - singer songwriter and musician. I was born in France, the daughter of a diplomat/film-maker and my mother was a dancer/kiinesiologist. I grew up in South Africa from the age of 2 and have lived in London just over 5 years now!. I have finished up working as a PA in an office recently and am now wholeheartedly pursuing my passion for music and. I dream of being a full time artist surviving comfortably off my creative contributions - my ultimate aim is to achieve success through knowing I moved people through my art & to be remembered for this and all my other artistic contributions to a better world!
I recorded these tracks with various producer friends I have met over the past 5 or so years. 'Listless' was a once off I did with friend and producer Matt Carter. Lessons Learnt I recorded with the accomplished Dereck Rose. None of these tracks were actually fully completed and mastered. The vocals on Lessons Learnt was just the guide! The track 'Free' was recorded iin 2002 before I left South Africa with my friend Garth van de Merwe who I hear is now a successful producer in SA.
I want someone who doesn't know me to believe in me first! :-)
Does that sound a bit strange? Its just - thats what will make me believe! :-)
Update: Well it worked! I have got my first believer: a total stranger from Salt Lake City. Thanks Chloe :-) I am now opening it up to my personal network and will attempt to network more on Sellaband as well now, even though Im about to leave to go backpacking in India for 3 months :-)
To be honest I haven't really done anything to promote this profile page since I set it up. Like my myspace page, I enjoy seeing it build slowly own its own. Its like an organic process of slowly unfoldment; at its own pace (Dec07)

Whew! Where is my mind? Is it even attached to my body sometimes i wonder. Hello and I have arrived back to London after 3 and a half glorious months travelling through India! I even played some gigs in Anjuna, Goa, but the rest of my time was travelling and soaking up the spirituality! All in all, an amazing time and now I am just trying to readjust back to my old life in the city again! But my spirit is renewed in a way like never before. I have new inspiration and enthusiasm for life! I have shed an old skin in India.
I also have new songs which I am dying to record now and put up here so I can summon up a few more believers too. I have to admit, I have not been very good with networking or self-promotion, and it is obvious when you see how little activity this page has had since i started it. But c'est la vie, what will be will be, and this is the way it is - for now! Who knows what the future holds. Its all certainly very exciting....

Anyway, wow, another year shoots by and its almost the end of 07.
Its almost hard to believe the trajectory of time these days....
SO!! I am Glad to say I have found my first believer :-))
Thank you Noble_Echoes_Society. Its the best feeling to know someone on the other side of the world who doesn't know me at all, just randomly came across my profile and decided to believe in me! Thanks also for thesound advice, and I must really work a bit at marketing myself now i think...
I am now ready to open it up to my friends and the rest of the world, and share myself a bit more. I mean....why hold back! I've been doing that long enough!! So party on folks, and lets keep the love of music flowing + alive!

Hello believers... I trully wanna believe there's a few of you out there.
I also believe that in order to make others believe one has to have Self Belief!
I haven't been putting in 100% of myself or my self belief in the past months.
I was stuck in a hectic corporate job which was chipping away at my soul and my spirit over the months. But now its just about me & the music again :-))
Many years I've dallied and dithered. Frustrated family and friends, who are really strong believers in me, had to simply watch as I evaded myself for so long. The pain of discovering who you really are is necessary. Perhaps even the great deal of loss and lostness was essential to making up the ingredients of who I am today. Strong, wise, sensitive to all fellow humans, animals, plants & stones...and finally, at a point, where I want to change my Life for good. To effect so much good in my life that goodness only affects everyone else I touch. My songs are generally about something deep, scourging the depths of the mind, in order to find reason and rationale for this soul-shattering world of beauty! To find beauty in the sadness, to find depths in the Joy ever-bursting forth in us all. To understand who WE are in space & time dimension. To connect! Music the great connector! The source of all origins. Sacred Vibrations

Get your friends to invest even just a few parts and match those parts with your investment. Thats only $50. The price of 2 pizzas! If you wanna back out....you can. But you gotta get yourself catapulted to the 1- 10 pages. Only a few hundred will do that. Then everyone will see you and start investing. Also.........leave messages here and there. This website is very interactive. It doesn't work to just put your songs up. Even reallly talented people like you still get washed away in the other pages. : ) Good luck and get it going Maya! You have a beautiful voice and sing intelligent lyrics. I've often wondered why so much crap is aired while so much good and meaningful music is almost never heard.
