Melt initially started with Paul Pipitone (bass) who had been around the local Boston music scene for several years and was looking to do something new that combined elements that were dynamic and jarring yet still accessible and melodic.  Paul was into punk, art rock and goth, and when he needed a guitarist, Nils Freiberger was only a phone call away. He and Paul had been friends for many years and they shared a similar taste in music and vision of what their ultimate band would be.  Previously Nils had been a mainstay on the local RI club scene, and fronted several of his own bands there.  Now he was ready for a new challenge and the energy and technical prowess his playing brought in started becoming infectious. From the moment Rachel Drucker sang her first note to the band, they knew she was the voice and front person they had been looking for. With her diverse theatre and musical background, not to mention stellar vocals and stage presence, she brought the band to a new level of excellence.  She quickly brought up the energy level a thousand fold due to her live performances and interest in exotic instruments and world and underground music. Scott Maher was the final piece, adding fire, excitement, exceptional drumming, and bringing the band to a place where they knew they were ready to take on the world. In the short time this lineup has been complete, people have been taking notice, with calls from local promoters and radio stations coming in, as well as a presence on the local music charts and a first place finish in the Bodog Battle of the bands first round.

Howdy!

Just wanted to pop in and give you a heads up on Sommersby's October Competition!

If you haven't already heard, the competition (hot on the heels of his recent neck-in-neck September fiesta) will offer 20 parts for the winner and is open to all artists that have between $9999 and $0 in budget.

Please check the forum for updates on contest rules and regs….starts 25 October!

This is a great opportunity for you. Campaign with the believers to let them know you'd like to be nominated and encourage them to vote for you when the time comes.

Of course, if you'd like to, or you know someone who would like to, donate parts for the prizes in the Competition, just send (or have them send) Sommersby the details under a message marked “October Donation."

Hope you join in on the fun and GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!

Dear colleagues and friends;
In the last weeks after entering SellaBand, many good things happened to me. From all around the world people buy ‘parts’ and send exciting invitations to come to Europe and US to perform. I am completely overwhelmed and had never expected this could be possible, although I dream all my life to become a good and renowned record artist. At my page you can read about me and listen to my music. Recently I have recorded SAVE THE CHILDREN, a song to attract the attention of the international media to the desperate situation of children who are victims of war in Africa (myself I was on the run from childhood for 15 years, I know what they go through!). Willem-k suggested to release SAVE THE CHILDREN before Christmas and that inspired me to invite SellaBand members from all continents to join me in a possible remix. How to do so I hope to hear from you and especially from panel experts and Believers. If you like the idea please send your comments and proposals to me, and I or my pal Willem will respond a.s.a.p. You can send also by email to eecevents@yahoo.com. May the Big Power beyond us all, grant you the success you deserve, all possible happiness and a great career. Your Magnus with Love from Africa.
