Mike Finley is a singer/songwriter from a tiny town in Oxfordshire. He quickly learned that the best way to get a song to sound how you want and to present it how its supposed to be presented is to do it yourself, and with that his solo career began.
He writes about things that matter to him, whether they be trying to find your unique place in a society that places so much emphasis on conformity, dealing with the loss of someone extremely close, having someone dominate your life or looking for a glimmer of hope when all around seems to fall, all of his songs are about something that people can relate to.
Mike has played several amateur festivals and acoustic venues around Oxfordshire and has developed a cult following, and has support from many local (and not-so local) bands and artists.

Howdy!
Just wanted to pop in and give you a heads up on Sommersby's October Competition!
If you haven't already heard, the competition (hot on the heels of his recent neck-in-neck September fiesta) will offer 20 parts for the winner and is open to all artists that have between $9999 and $0 in budget.
Please check the forum for updates on contest rules and regs….starts 25 October!
This is a great opportunity for you. Campaign with the believers to let them know you'd like to be nominated and encourage them to vote for you when the time comes.
Of course, if you'd like to, or you know someone who would like to, donate parts for the prizes in the Competition, just send (or have them send) Sommersby the details under a message marked “October Donation."

I stopped by to let you know about a forum that is used by many believers and artists from Sellaband (SAB has mentioned that they are working on an official forum soon) http://sellaband.pro boards79.com/ I also wanted to mention a website put together by one of our other believers http://www.imasellab andaddict.com/site/ where you can see video footage of an interview with the guys behind sellaband.

Mike Finley - Mike Finley EP Mike Finley Mike Finley debuts with this low-budget and self-produced EP. The focus here lies on the songs themselves and thus, the strength of the CD lies within the songwriting and the catchy hooks & melodies, not in the recording quality of the production. Would this man get a chance to record in a proper studio and get his CD properly mixed & produced, then there is no doubt in my mind there’s a bright future ahead of him. Influenced by numerous American mainstream pop/rock bands such as Goo Goo Dolls, Neve, Lifehouse & The Calling, as well as less obvious influences from acts as Hundred Reasons, Damien Rice (UK) & Butch Walker (US), this young man from Oxfordshire wrote some very professional and catchy tunes. His vocals are definitely his strongest point. And because he writes his on music and lyrics, he can get into a song and get out everything there is in it. His music would get more dimension with a good back up band but, so far, this guy shows us that he’s very capable of doing things himself. All the songs are well-suited for solo/acoustic (or even electric) versions. Mike Finley is still waiting on his big break, but I will tell you that it’s only a matter of time. for a detailed song by song review click here ---- His vocals remind a little of Goo Goo Dolls Johnny Rzeznik & Vertical Horizons Matt Scannell. His excellent songwriting and choice of words place him in the middle of brilliant songwriters like Jason Wade (Lifehouse), Nick Drake & Thom Yorke (Radiohead) this guy is gonna make it someday.
