Mindfields is a new progressive metal band from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We've been together since February 2006. The band started out as a schoolproject for Jordy Licht, on the Conservatory of Amsterdam. This is also where he met second guitar player Ruben, vocalist Laura and former bass-player Fabiana. I knew drummer Steven Leijen from former band The Cum Experience, and asked him to join the band.
The band is influenced by the sound of progressive and symphonic bands like Devin Townsend, Opeth, The Gathering and more. We are currently recording our first 4-song promo, which will be available for free, and also be completely downloadable from the MySpace as well as our official website. The promo is being produced and engineered by Michael Leeninga (Stillborn, Autumn Equinox, Fuel, Necrology), a colleague of mine, and also a good friend. He has worked with some big names in progressive rock as a live sound engineer.
