Hi , my name is Missy Rogers , I'm a singer / songwriter and I just signed up to sellaband.
The recordings on my page are home recordings..... My style of music is Rock, Pop, Soul and Alternative Rock music. My influences are vast from Nina Simone , Ella Fitzgerald , Sam Cooke , Otis Redding , Van Morrison , Marvin Gaye , Stevie Wonder , to Nine Inch Nails , Disturbed , Pearl Jam , Sound Garden , Concrete Blond, Depeche Mode, Maroon 5 , John Mayer and Nickel back ...just to name a few. Missy Rogers was born in Brooklyn , N.Y to a cabaret style professional singer/performer Ellen Rogers.Missy was accepted to Laguardia Highschool for vocals at age 13 and formed her first band at age 15 as a lead singer and lyricist. At age 17 she had her first song lyrics published. In 2002 she joined forces with Jimi Crespo , a lead guitarist and songwriter ,who has had his songs aired on commercials and played on college and main stream radio stations ;and Darryl Won ,a Jimi Hendrix style bass player, trained at Miami College music program ; and Kwasi Long, a drummer who has done session work and received mainstream radio play , and Carl Duin a great performer and rhythm guitarist . Collectively they formed the band Blackout soon to be known as Kilowatt. After the untimely death of rhythm guitarist , and dear friend Carl Duin ;the band fell apart. Now after 3 years :Jimi Crespo , lead guitarist and songwriter, bassist Darryl Won and vocalist , songwriter and guitar player Missy Rogers have formed a new band , called Missy Rogers , a seven year project of songs written by Jimi Crespo and Missy Rogers. They have a new drummer , Iggy. And since Missy recently fractured her thumb playing congas , a new rhythm guitar player Rob Hall. .
