Biography Monstertux
Monstertux originates from Leeuwarden (The Netherlands) and plays independent rock with a differentiating and unmistakable sound. The critics given, claim hearing influences from Placebo, Sonic Youth and The Beatles. Being associated with these names is definitely not something to be ashamed of. Musical influences in abundance, but the core of Monstertux is about writing and translating their own work. The Monstertux songs can be characterized as melancholy with conscientious texts and well thought through musical arrangements. The melody is always dominantly present, even in the dynamic small and bombastic changes.
Highlights, since the start in 2002, are the live shows with progrock-giant Marillion in Lille and Utrecht in 2007. This year Monstertux also won the award for 'Best Indierockband from the Netherlands'. The band played in Paradiso (Amsterdam), Eurosonic (Groningen) and did live radio performances on 3FM (Dutch radio). Besides numerous gigs through The Netherlands, Monstertux also played as a support act for Breed77, The Answer and singer songwriter Kevn Kinney.
On the EP ‘During Daytime’ Monstertux has entrusted her songs to an album and was ready to bring her work to a broader public. The recordings were made in the fort of the Mailmen studio in Utrecht (The Netherlands). Martijn Groeneveld – known from productions for Solo, A Balladeer and Satellite 7 – produced the recordings. The critics were positive and promising:
“The songs on this EP are thorough and not arranged in an obvious manner, guitars and keyboards keep each other in balance. They possess a very solid sound.”

Monstertux has recently shot the ‘In A Minute’ video clip. They can be heard on 3FM, Kink FM and a number of regional radio broadcasts. The band belongs to the selective party of Freesonica: bands from the province of Friesland with a bright future. Monstertux is currently working on new material under their own label and management. But obviously they will keep on performing in their sweltering and intense fashion.

Just wanted to pop in and give you a heads up on Sommersby's October Competition!
If you haven't already heard, the competition (hot on the heels of his recent neck-in-neck September fiesta) will offer 20 parts for the winner and is open to all artists that have $9999 or less in budget on 25 October.
