Phoenix Red_

Phoenix Red consists of four Dutch musicians. As from February 2006 the complete formation of the band is a fact with singer / guitarist / instrumentalist Rob, guitarist Davey, Rick on drums and bass player Rutger. The four of them have a wide experience in the band circuit. Although they differ in their musical background, there’s one important drive they have in common: the urge to make direct and powerful “straight ahead” rock, balancing on the edge between mainstream and alternative. Phoenix Red exclusively plays their own work, mainly written by Rob. Together with the rest of the band the songs are completed after a creative process in which every band member contributes his own ideas. Influenced by bands as The Doors, Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and the Stone Temple Pilots. All of this makes Phoenix Red a solid band which finds its expression in their energetic live performances. According to critics “pureness”, “straight forward”, “melodious”, “simplicity” and “self-willed” are terms that describes the music of Phoenix Red. Surrounded by a creative and raw sound. Since their first gig in the end of June 2006, Phoenix Red have played many quiet some gigs. Until now their double appearance at the Melkweg Amsterdam during the qualifying round and final of Global Battle of the Bands is one of the highlights. Besides that they played at Dutch podia like the Mezz (Breda), W2 (Den Bosch) and the 013 (Tilburg). In June of 2007 they ended 2nd as the publics favourite and 4th overall  at the Benelux final of the global Emergenza contest at the 013. They released their first EP called “Madman’s cry” in January 2007. According to the first review: “Their independent EP contains four songs which people who are interested in Rock easily can clasp in one’s arms. The songs are catchy from opener “Wake Up” until the last song “Set me Free”.
