Plastic Squirrel is the lifetime project of Mr Dave Holwill. He has spent many years playing guitar, bass and keyboards in various pub covers bands, and just as many playing in pseudo-art rock bands. These art-rock bands always failed to be as interesting or experimental as they promised, and the problem with other musicians is that they always want you to listen to their ideas. So Dave stopped playing in these creatively stunted groups, and locked himself in his home studio to create what he had always envisioned his music to be like. He quickly spent all his hard-earned cash on some decent home recording equipment, keyboards, drum machines and samplers so as to further this effort, and then found out it was obsolete, and had to upgrade. After much upgrading it has become apparent that if you stay a few years behind the current cutting edge, you can still make darn good music but without the expense. Mind you, he still has to play in those pub cover bands to pay for everything. Plastic Squirrel music is hard to define, it has been described as lo-fi-lounge but it seems to have moved on again since then. Taking inspiration from groups such as The Residents and The White Noise it is quite experimental at times, whilst retaining an old-fashioned rock sensibility underneath somewhere. The best way of finding out what it is like is to listen to it, as with each new project comes a shift in direction.

Dave himself was born in Guildford in 1977 sometime, and currently lives in Hatherleigh, in deepest darkest Devon with his wife Netty, two step kids, 4 cats, a rabbit, 6 giant african land snails, some fish which are not his, and Rizla an 18 month old collie pup that prevents him from recording any new product.
