PORTULAK is the name of an old salat plant coming originally from china with a spicy taste.
Portulak playes popmusic and has this spicy taste too druged with several ingredients from jazz to folk. The result is music with a very warm feeling played with drive and passion, convincing different.
These are the musicians of PORTULAK:
Fränzi Keller (voc) has a charming, warm, present voice with a great touch of soul.
Rainer Hagmann (vl, eff) sets the pattern for violinplaying at its best with virtuosic solos (listen to just a minute).
Geri Zumbrunn (wurli) composes the songs and delivers with his wurlitzer a high degree of transparency.
Jean-Pierre Dix (b) provides for a fat bass sound whereupon the other musicians build on.
Michel Barengo (dr) impressives with his groovy and sophisticated playing.
