M. Harris - HIP-HOP IS ALIVE AT SAB!! It's MY BIRTHDAY TIME ON 3/17!!

As this will not be my first Album, I will want to make the most of both myself and those that have help me this far in the Music Industry.

Musically - The vast majority of music I want to do would be with live instrumentation. I write / arrange / Produce my own music now, plus I feel that my situation would be easier to get musicians to play, as I live in a State where the Music is rich, and taken seriously. My Last Album, UNORTHODOX, involved 7 other musicians that are all friends, so this time I would like to reward them for the effort they have given me over the years.

I believe that Pre-Production towards recording is as important as rehersals for Performance. It's been a part of my career for the last decade, and whatever music that would end up on my Sellaband Album are being recorded in such ways now (Look at Peering Through the Looking Glass of a Protest as an example). Technology has allowed great "Pre-Recording" sounds, but I believe with the help of Sellaband, the sounds that I am getting now can be enhanced. I would love to even spend a little time with Chuck D, especially since Public Enemy is now official artists here on SAB.

Marketing - The Typical approaches are through Social Networks (Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, YouTube) and I do plan to continue to use them. What I would like to change from what is being presently done is to take a percentage of money and apply them more to the "ads" parts of these sites. Each of the above mention sites average 100 Million Users and another 10-20 Million in "Guests." I think that if for a 4-6 month time period the combination of M. Harris and Sellaband is being seen on all these sites on sign-on pages, columns on pages, widget bars, etc can be beneficial for My Sellaband Album, a resurgence of previous projects, and Sellaband as a whole.

Another thing that is difficult is the availability of the Artist to go from reaching their Believers / Fans through Technology, to reaching them in person on the stage. Experience tells me that reaching Believers / Fans in other countries can be as beneficial as trying to reach the rest of the United States. So what I would like to do is network with other Sellaband Artists / Bands and organize shows wherever my Believers are. I would even go as far and say procedes from the shows in that Believer's area can go back to them! If a Person can become a Believer, and help do their part toward an Artist's success from the Part to the Stage Celebration, why not them get rewarded?

Finally, I've always considered that media venues like MTV and BET ccan still be useful, but it is up to the People to change what is happening there - from the type of shows to the music videos. I have friends in different cities & states who make a legitimate living in video production, film production, and TV Production. I want to go beyond the show videos that I have here - I want to document the entire process of the Sellaband Album - from the moment of reaching $50,000 to the Post release Promotion on the road. I want everyone to truly realize that and everyday person can legitimately become someone special - without selling out, or being stereotypical, or going the traditional reality route. I don't want a TV show. I would rather it be a DVD for those who purchase the Album to have access to 6-9 months after the Album release.
