We’re an independent band from the lonely rural outskirts in the North of Holland. Near the city of Groningen we have a nice studio in a very small place called Spitsbergen. (www.studiospitsbergen.nl) We worked in this studio for quite some time on new material. The three songs on this site are examples of that effort. At this moment the writing and composing is done and we are ready to let “the world” know about our music.

We’ve brought our music to Sellaband because it represents a completely different way for music to be produced and distributed. We believe in the concept and we see it as a very good way to reach people all over the world. To proof that we believe in Sellaband and in our own music we will also be strong believers. You won’t be the only one spending some bucks on Radio Orange.

Radio Orange is a mix between “Weekend at Waikiki” and “I SPY” , two bands from the eighties, which were “world famous” in the Netherlands. For more than seven years Tom Holkenborg was a member of Weekend at Waikiki. Of course he is now known as Junkie XL.

Upcoming Sunday there will be a TV evening with TOM HOLKENBORG (junkie XL) in "Zomergasten" on Dutch National TV. Tom was a former member of “Weekend at Waikiki”; one of the founding bands of Radio Orange. So if you want to know something more about the background of Radio Orange and if you understand Dutch, don't hesitate to watch.

You might have heard the track “Gare the Lyon” on Lucia Iman’s profile. One of the Oranges (Joris) wrote this song together with Lucia, just by sending each other files on the Internet. Later on we wrote more songs for Lucia, which worked out fine for both of us.

That’s why Lucia came to our completely refurbished “Studio Spitsbergen”, where we worked together for a couple of days. There was chemistry right from the start! What a talented and professional artist!  So now it’s time to launch the first song called “Terminal One”. A golden oldie from Radio Orange, but wow what a rebirth!

May 7-9 Collab at Studio Spitsbergen with Lucia Iman. A wish came true. It’s such an honor that we can work with this great Sellaband Star. We will record several songs and of course you will be the first to hear it.

Wouldn’t it be nice if…
At Easter we went for a nifty techno shower to Amsterdam. In the “Melkweg” we were literally blown away by the beats of Junkie XL (Tom Holkenborg). He was there for the release party of his new CD “Booming Back At You”. Tom was a former member of “Weekend at Waikiki”; one of the founding bands of Radio orange. After the concert we talked for hours about new plans, his work in LA and of course about our 50K plan. Wouldn’t be nice if…

It sure has been an exiting week for us all at Radio Orange.
Just imaging: Radio Orange live onstage in the main concert hall of Groningen (locally known as "De Stadsschouwburg").
During this event also "Thomas Azier" and "The Black Atlantic", two young and highly talented 'Eurosonic bands', performed some of their new songs.
FYI also Pim Betist, one of the founders of Sellaband, was present and gave a clear lecture on the beauty of the Sellaband concept that was well received by the intrigued audience.
 
Anyway, we would have loved to invite you all of course, but unfortunately it was more or less a private party. Nevertheless, one of our fans secretly made a home-video registration of this gig.
So to make it up to you we have now included some video footage of this Radio Orange concert.
Sure, it's just a single camera-take and yes, we know the sound is recorded in low-fi mono. But hey...., it really gives you some taste of how it actually was out there; big fun. Just hit the video button, we hope you like it!
 
In the past weeks we were happy and proud to bring our "Personal Love Song" to more than 700 new folks throughout the Netherlands. In fact, it was an order placed by a famous Dutch Internet company who really like our concept.  All new love-song receivers are active in the Dutch entertainment- and/or internet industry. In the coming days they will all receive a gift part from Radio Orange and a clear explanation of the Sellaband concept. So hopefully there will be a lot of new believers on Sellaband soon.

At this moment we are a bit all over the world (New York, Berlin), but we are very very proud that we reached (for a moment) the 15k border and page 1. So thank you so much for the support and  the kind remarks. Especially PV/Nearfield, who brought us for the first time to the 15K (who will be next:-). In the upcoming months we will bring lots of new stuff and music to Sellaband. So stay tuned.

There is a very interesting competition going on in the north of the Netherlands; Eurosonic (www.eurosonic.nl), Noorderslag (www.noorderslag.nl)and web agency <theFactor.e> (www.tfe.nl), got together and came up with the idea for the Interactive Award. The Interactive Award (www.interactive-award.nl) will be granted to an act who utilizes the internet in an original and innovative way to get famous. The winning act will receive: 5000 Euros, 2 days of recording time in Studio Spitsbergen, Holland (Yes, the same studio where Radio Orange, Radius, Nemesea and Julia Marcell recorded material), 1 year professional webhosting and last but not least a very ugly but bling bling award.

It’s a unique opportunity and you should take it seriously because “Noorderslag/Eurosonic” is the European authority on bringing new talent to the big festivals in Europe. In January Eurosonic/Noorderslag gets massive international press attention. Not only TV, but also radio, newspapers and magazines.

Beware! Don’t use the Interactive Award as a simple way to promote your music and Sellaband. You should only sign in if you think that you do something really special on the Internet. Okay its time to bring in some new music from Radio Orange. Not one… but three new songs get their premiere today on the Internet. They differ in character and subject, but they are all good representatives of the Radio Orange attitude. Listen to the songs (“loud maybe”), listen again and then tell us what you think. We are anxious to know your opinion.

Meanwhile we are working on a big surprise for you all. It has something to do with love, it’s personal, it’s all about music and it will definitely help you to get your innermost relationship on the highest level on the scale of passion. Curious…. A little patience will help. Give us a week and we will bring it to you. In the meantime; enjoy the music and of course we will be grateful if you take a part (or more) in Radio Orange. We had a "sunkissed" Queensday (30 april) in our hometown Zuidhorn. We found more than 60 new believers in one day. Curious how we did it?  Hit the ‘ video’ tab and see for yourself. We made a special handmade CD for this occasion with six tracks on full quality and with very special and strange Dutch artwork (you can see the production of it in the video). We have some left. Take a part (or two or more) (to cover the shipping costs) and leave a personal message with your address on this page. We then will send it to you.
 The “London Calling” competition is behind us. We did more than well, but are also glad we can all go back to ‘business as usual’. We’ve put away our ‘ Jehova's Sellaband Witness suits’ and will concentrate ourselves on two most important things; music and fun.

We reached some new milestones. 9.000 dollars in the “pocket”, an article in the Sellaband Tribune, a whole bunch of new believers and strong support by the old believers. Oké, it’s time for some announcements.
1.    First of all we bring in another new song “Still Time” We would really appreciate, curious as we are, if you put some words about this song and the other ones in the comment or review space.  Or you can leave a personal message (use the message button) Every review is very helpful for us.
2.    We are working right now on the artwork of our Sellaband album. 10 young Internet designers from Holland are working with us.  They all got one song and the assignment to create a kind of homepage, which is connected to the song. So the artwork will be “homepages” but then in print. Confused? Just click the tab “photo’s” and see some examples. Tell us what you think, or better, become “a believer” in Radio Orange and mention in a personal comment “artwork”. We will then send you the big digital early product of one of the artists.
3.    We want to publish a book about our time on Sellaband. It’s a book about Radio Orange, but much more, it’s a book about you, about your country and about your relation with music. In the end we would like to have a book about people from every country of this world and their connection with Radio Orange. A Planet Tale. All right, all right its sound like a pretentious “literary” device. But still, wouldn’t it be nice; a “Taschen” book about Sellaband, the believers and one of the bands. Please tell us what you think of this idea and in what way you may want to participate.
4.    We got our hands on a beautiful piece of land in Second Life. We already did some flying around with an orange dragon, but in the end we will have our own concert hall and a radio station on SL. We will keep you posted.
5.    At this moment we are working on the public version of www.radioorange.com. (coming up soon), our own myspace area and a new video clip which will be spectacular. (more about this in one week)

A Song to celebrate our entrance in the SAB world. To say hello to every one in the community and thank you to our growing number of believers. Hello to you all
As we write this its now 3 hours before the deadline of the chart
We lick our wounds after a night in which a lot of believers and bands react on our spectacular entrance in the chart of Sellaband. There were some people who do not believe in our integrity, there are people who blame us for our age and there are people who suggest that we all have large families and no friends. :-) Other people say thanks for shaking the Sellaband community. And there are of course people who take some time to tell us about the music and, even better, there are people who support us by  being a believer.
Oke we will explain it later on. But for now we retreat. We will not appear on the CD. So bands up and around place 6 to 10 you all move one place. Of course we hope that our believers will leave the money in place. We are not in this to annoy you all. We are in this because we believe in the concept and we believe in Radio Orange. We hope that we can stay for a long time on Sellaband. Thats for us important.
