New Upload - You Say
The Reverbeffect is basically myself Peter and daughter Hannah plus a number of guests from time to time. We don't play covers although I would like to cover some songs that have been seminal in my own lifetime. Playing music and sharing musical ideas with like minded people has brought me great joy over the years but none more so than witnessing my own children developing their talents, confidence and skills in performing.
Hannah-Rei features as a vocalist and co-writer and puts a magic shine on my sometimes clumsy guitar playing. Hannah has her own myspace and a talent that far exceeds my own.
Peter Rockcliffe - Guitars, Keyboards, Reverb,
Hannah-Rei - Vocals, Insghts, Rationale and Production.
You Say is a new upload on Sellaband with a more Latin Beat and some delicious harmonies and economical guitar work.
Mr Smooth is totally opposite to me but Hannah turned this into something workwhile. I'd only been playing guitar seriously for about eighteen months when we laid this down. There is only one acoustic guitar featured (a sweet toned Westone Parlour guitar which I bought for Hannah to learn on) but I used it for the rhythm, bass and lead parts as well as the keyboards which used to be my main instrument. I now use a Yamaha AP5X-12 with Custom Lights and various tunings to exaggerate the harmonic effect.
Border Crossing musically, reflects the Northumbrian in me. Best listened to with headphones. I wrote this piece after watching refugees escaping the conflicts in war torn Bosnia and Kosovo. I am always made more optimistic by expressions of the human spirit and recognise how fortunate I've been thus far. Its not the hardest piece to reproduce live but this shortened version is evocative of the moment that bore the original inspiration and an attempt at moving the listener through the soundscape.
When I'm not playing, I love teaching people and encouraging them to be creative. Children who have no preconceptions can really feel music. Its a great way to communicate without having to explain every nuance!
I've had associations with music making most of my life. Some of my attempts are minor meditations and others are just plain fun. I hope that you will enjoy these simple offerings for what they are. There will be changes from time to time with new songs and the old ones will be available on myspace.com/Reverbeffect.

I welcome feedback and comments but most of all I hope that my music will inspire creativity, not just in music but in Poetry and Art.

Congratulations on being mentioned in the Sellaband Tribune at all.

Thanks Adam Sieff for your kind comments in the Sellaband Tribune.
Fetching though we may be, I wouldn't be within handbag range of Hannah-Rei where whimsy is concerned. She's a consummate professional and won the MBF Songwriting Awards 2006 Final at The Bedford last November. Guy Chambers admitted he hadn't been able to write R and B. Of course Hannah can write in lots of genres and Reverbeffect is a testament to that collaboration and there's a lot more to come.

regards and best wishes on Sellaband. Its a brilliant concept and Patronage for the 21st Century is just the kick that this industry needs.

Many thanks for your message.
Wolverhampton isn't too far from me, as I'm on the same side of Birmingham. Telford is a bit more of a jaunt, given how bad that M5/M6 corner tends to get. Would definitely be interested in hearing you play live some time, so will look forward to hearing any dates you do get.
Have accepted your friend request on Myspace and will have to check up on your daughter's when I get the time (this place is keeping me way too occupied!)

The last two tracks are very relaxing.
