Bio
My name is Joyce Dijkgraaf, and I was born 23 springs ago in the Netherlands.
Mainly I am a singer, and when I don't sing I write music. If you are on a quest for meaningless pop songs, you're at the wrong place. I write about the things most people worry about. Insecureness, finding yourself, accepting flaws and the things I worry about in society.
I like to participate in diverse projects and music styles of which you can take a peak on my website/project page. I will not back down for new challenges, on the contrary. I will grab them with both hands and try to get the most experience out of it as possible. This is one of the reasons I'm in a school for music. Practising my passion every day, how lucky am I!.
My future plan contains writing and performing with Sarah's Smile and working together with other diverse artists. The stage feels like home and I know I belong there.

At the moment she is writing some great music for this band. With a beautiful voice and great ideas Sarah's Smile has a huge possibility to succeed. So if you love her be smart and become a believer or a fan.
The name Sarah’s Smile is chosen because Sarah is the name of Joyces neice.
The pureness and honesty this little child gave her when she was born, had such an inpact. Sarah is always smiling and she is not yet influenced by society. Every day is a new day to learn and investigate. The positivity in Sarah’s smile is something Sarah's Smile wants to share with the world.

As some of you know the cd release party for Gandillion is this friday.
Ofcource I understand that it's a bit too far to come and party with us. So I've arranged that I can give my sellaband believers a small discount.
The cd will cost 17,99 euro in stores (I like the amount of 10$ here on sellaband but I'm not the one who sets the price) and I can offer it to you for 15,- euro. The cd contains 13 songs and is 73 minutes long.
More info will come on how to order the cd.
For people who can't wait, you can get the cd at our release party this friday for 15,- euro's too.

Sarah's Smile.....
For Sarah's Smile I'm on a quest for a producer. I've written a lot of great songs lately and Im really frustrated that I haven't been able to record some decent versions of the songs. In my oppinion the songs are awesome!! But they can be even more awesome if they where complete within a bandsetting. I've put the titels of the songs that are finished on the info page so you all can see what I've been working on lately.
Trust me when I say; "2008 is the year when Sarah will be Smiling".

How are you all doing?
Today the piano will be recorded for "Changes are Coming".
Unfortunatly I have a terrible cold, so I will record the vocals as soon as my cold is gone.

The next song is ready to be recorded too! The song is called "For life". The song is about my relationship with my boyfriend.

I've recorded my first own written song with my webcam at home. I wanted you to be able to hear what I'm doing at the moment. The song is called "Changes are coming" Because of all the change lately, but that doesn't mean they are negative. You can find the song at the video section.
Hopefully I can record the studio version soon. A pianist will record the piano for the song, 'cause I'm no piano player. I'm only playing paino for a month or so;-).

Last saturday I've recorded three songs for Gandillion, and this thursday, friday and saturday I will record some more.
This tuesday I'm going to record two song for my band at school, and on wednesday I'm going to present my firts own written song called "Changes are coming" in my songwritinglesson at school.
I've found a pianist at who will record the piano for this song, hopefully I have the time to record the vocals next weekend, so I can present it to you.

After my last post, I have had the question if it is wise to kep your parts in Sarah's Smile. I just wanna say, ofcource! I can really use your support and opinions about my own written music. That meens the world to me.
I fully understand if you want to withdraw your parts because of the change. That is the risk by making this dissision. We're still good friends:-).

Hey, all of you wonderfull believers! How are you doing?
It has been a few crazy weeks for me, and they are not over yet.
As I told some of you, my songwriter is very busy at the moment with his own songs. So unfortunatly there is still no recorded second song. I do have got vocallines and lyrics for probably 3 more songs, but it would be nice to have some music with it.
I’m taking songwriting lessons at school and I’m going to take pianolessons, so that I will not have to depent on other people when I want to write a song. It is going quite well with the pianoplaying.
I have noticed that some of you have withdawn a few parts. I fully understand this, because of the waiting for the next song. I have to say it is not my intention to get the 50k as soon as possible. I want to give you the oppotunity to take this journey with me too. Through my lyrics and music I will tell you the story of discovering yourself. Because that is what is happning in my live.
This journey will take more than just a month. I’m not an artist who want to be on sellaband just for the cd. I love the concept of sellaband and I love meeting people and sharing stories.
Some more big news!
Maybe I’m going to tell you something right now you wouldn’t suspect. I’m the new singer of the band called Gandillion. This is a prog metal band from the Netherlands. The reason why I chosed to be with this band is because they have a lot op opportunities open for me. They want to release their full album in december. This means there will be al full album available with me on it!!
And there will be a promo tour in 2008 through the Netherlands and some other countries in Europe. Maybe I can even meet some of you! That would be great!
This thursday I’m going to record teh firts song for Gandillion called “Fuel for her rockets”. You can listen to it on the Gandillion myspace next week. I will sent you the url.
What does this mean for Sarah’s Smile?
There will be a few changes concerning Sarah’s Smile that I really though well about. I made these changes because this is gonna work out for the best, for me and other people who were involved with Sarah’s Smile. I definatly will continue with Sarah’s Smile!
It was very hard to find the right musicians and I still hadn’t found the sutable pianist. This was very frustrating, and the musicians I did found were waiting and waiting untill I had found a pianist. This was putting some presure on me, while I was stopping myself from evolving and getting closer to my goals.
This all is why I decided to keep Sarah’s Smile an accoustic singer songwriter project. I’m going to write the songs for myself, and develope myself as a songwriter.

It's been a amazing week. 8K, over a thousant plays and 80 believers already. I never imagined that. Thank you all so much.
Ofcource you are all asking youselves, when is the second song coming.
I am working on a couple of songs to be honnest. As soon as I'm am conviced one of the songs is completely finished I will upload it.
We are still expirimenting with the sound of the songs, but I can already say that the atmophere will be likewise to Running Away.
This is still a band in progress and there is a lot to be done.
But once we wil reach the 50k, our cd will be awesome, even if we haven't been able to find the right musicians.

Wat a great start of the week! Vegas Dragons at 50k! 7K in 51,5 hours for Sarah's Smile.. second in the weekly charts and a spot in the tribune of this week.
I can not think of a way to thank you all as much as I would like to.
I'm going to work hard on a next song, so you can all hear that this is my dream, and I will not let you down.
