Stern / Star

I was inspired to write the lyrics to Stern when I saw a tv documentary about the Middle East Crisis and how families of both sides where dealing with the on going bombings. There is no political intention behind the song, I just felt challenged and tempted to write a song from the perspective of a father having to wake his daughter in the middle of the night and taking her to the basement for shelter. The song is sort of a dialog between the father and his daughter, where the father is basically trying to convince his daughter that she must not be afraid and not lose her hope in life and humanity as a whole. I know the whole subject seems very heavy and dark, but my main intention was to be honest about the situation and still try to create a positive and encouraging message. It has been a lyrical challenge and for me that is what writing is about. Below I have made some translation of the first verse and the chorus. More to come! My vocabulary is not as good in English as it is in German, but I believe it gives a fair impression of the song.
