SirSickSik is an electronical-music artist who tries to encapture the 'strange', and 'ugly' feelings of depression, isolation and despair, while, at the same time, trying to make an opening to lighten these or make them understandable. This will often result in a composition which is directed by the mutual influence of both his own feelings and the music being composed and with that influencing his state of mind. This often drives his music to be 'melancholic', 'sarcastic', (for himself slightly) 'chaotic', 'sad' or on good times 'happy' and more accessable. Also often, his music is influenced by subjects he's busy with at his study of Philosophy, like the subject 'isolation' (see the track 'Playing Organ in a Squated gymschool', for which a videoclip is already thought out. If this song isn't listed here yet, it (or any other) can be listened to on www.myspace.com/sirsicksik and www.purevolume.com/sirsicksik)
It's not accidental that SirSickSik has chosen this path of music, this style and these subjects. Having been in a deep depression from early childhood, came out of it around his 19th, he found out that the 'other' side of life somehow became 'meaningless', not 'him', 'dead inside'. This paradox made it necessary to find a way between, one of which shared in both sides. The former balancing the latter and back. This thought he tries to put into his music by making strange melodies in which both the beautiful harmonics and the 'nasty' harmonics play with each other in a balance, while making sudden swifts or someway 'impediments' in the rythm and melody to come closer to life. To be short, a song should open a horizon between oppositions, which creates meaning. Post comment Oct 12 2007 18:59 CET Kristen Howdy! Just wanted to pop in and give you a heads up on Sommersby's October Competition! If you haven't already heard, the competition (hot on the heels of his recent neck-in-neck September fiesta) will offer 20 parts for the winner and is open to all artists that have between $9999 and $0 in budget. Please check the forum for updates on contest rules and regs….starts 25 October! This is a great opportunity for you. Campaign with the believers to let them know you'd like to be nominated and encourage them to vote for you when the time comes. Of course, if you'd like to, or you know someone who would like to, donate parts for the prizes in the Competition, just send (or have them send) Sommersby the details under a message marked “October Donation." Hope you join in on the fun and GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!! May 07 2007 20:05 CET ******Chloe Michelle****** Hello Sir! My internet has been down. Or I would have replied sooner. Feb 04 2007 22:54 CET MACHIN YOoow! Welcome to the dance community on SAB ;-) It's hard to find believers who are into dance, you'll find out... but don't give up too soon, that's free advice :p Your tunes really rock! The first song got my ears ringing though :-D Greetz, Bart machin! Feb 02 2007 14:43 CET Kirt -500internalerror?Uploadingsongs?Isitjustme? Hello SirSickSik, Hard to say, maybe just rotate them. Allthough I think "The mind explored" is more forward going than your new piece, so its better for Sellaband, since it grasps the attention of a listener quicker. Those who are interested to hear more will go to myspace, if they know there is more there. Read all comments |
