Mit Steroid hat die Musiklandschaft des Ruhrgebiets seit 2005 einen neuen Stern am Himmel. Musikalisch gesehen, liegen die Wurzeln von Steroid in einem Brei aus Radiohead, Muse, e.s.t., Nils Petter Molvaer, Slut und Archive. Dass sie nicht nur ein Abklatsch eben genannter sind, stellt man bei ihren ueberenergetischen Live-Shows fest, spaetestens aber beim Reinhoeren in ihr aktuelles und erstes Album "Note of exclamation". Gitarrist, Saenger, Pianist und Mastermind Henning Rohschuermann, bricht nach Abschluss der 11. Klasse die Schule ab, um sich fortan vollstaendig der Musik zu widmen. Zu dieser Zeit besteht Steroid bereits seit August 2005 in ihrer heutigen Besetzung. Henning und Daniel Hofstadt Bass kannten sich bereits aus Kindertagen doch trotz der Tatsache, dass sie im selben Stadtteil wohnten, verloren sie sich lange Zeit aus den Augen. Anfang 2005 trafen sie sich zufaellig wieder und erkannten ihre gemeinsame Leidenschaft und beschlossen fortan gemeinsame Sache zu machen. "Zuerst war alles nur ein Projekt", sagt Daniel Hofstadt, "es konnte ja keiner ahnen, was daraus wird". Nach nur kurzer Zusammenarbeit war klar, dass das virtuelle Schlagzeug durch ein reales ersetzt werden muss und so stiess Robert Nowak Drummer zur Band. Henning und er gingen auf dieselbe Schule, daher wusste Henning genau, wen er sich in Boot holte. Zum Schluss kam Amanda Kapsch Saengerin zur Band, von der Daniel oft in den hoechsten Toenen sprach. Eine kollektive Probe im eigenen Proberaum mit Studio an der Engelbertusstr. in Muelheim und die Sache war geritzt. Steroid war geboren. Aus zahlreichen Jamsessions entstanden strukturierte Proben, deren Ergebnis sich hoeren lassen kann. 14 multilaterale Songs in ganz eigenem Stil, den sie selbst als "Junkic Rock" bezeichnen. So viel ist klar, Steroid wird kommen, staerker, anders und intensiver als je zuvor.

Steroid- a new star in the sky of Germany's musical landscape of the Ruhr area.

Musicaly, the roots of steroid have their source in an mixture of Radiohead, Muse, e.s.t., Nils Petter Molvaer, Slut and Archive. That steroid isn't a poor imitation of those is shown by their extra-energetic Live-shows, but at the latest when listening to their first Album „Note Of Exclamation“.

Guitarist, Pianist and Mastermind Henning Rohschuermann canceled school after finishing 11th class to dedicate himself completely to music. At this time, steroid already existed till august 2005 in todays lineup. Henning and Daniel know each other since childhood, but despite the fact that they grew up in nearly the same district, they've lost sight of each other.

At the beginning of august 2005 they met again accidental and recognized their common passion, music. From that day on, they decided to make common cause.

„At first it was just a project“, says Daniel, „no one could ever anticipate what it's going to become!“

After a short interworking it becomes clear that the virtual drumset should be replaced by a real one. That was the moment, when Robert Nowak, the drummer, came to the band. Henning knew him from schooldays and so he already knew in advance whome he was fetching.

Finaly, Amanda Kapsch, the singer, came to the band. Daniel often told the others about her amazing voice and so they all meet up for a collective tryout. That was the hour of birth of steroid.

Several Jamsessions resulted in structured cooperations, whose result is brilliant: "Note of exclamtion", 14 song in their own style and sound, which they call „Junkic Rock“. Jazz, funk and classical elements conflated in one.

One thing for sure: Steroid comes. Stronger, different and more intensive as never before.
