_____________________________________________________________________InIn In 2007 three young men gathered to create what would prove this years's newcomer in post-rock music. They formed a dynamic sound vision of modern rock music. Aside from all the pop-commercial borders and conventions Sebastian Sperl. Johannes Bert and Tobi Vogel recorded their debut Kra! during a cold and wet german summer. Suchtmaschine's long atmospeheric soundscapes have been supported by some musical colleagues. Together they created an enormous sophisticated variety in form, structure and sound. Multi-instrumentalist Carsten Mentzel (Hilips Records) contributed Bass,Rhodes and Synthie-visions, while Violinist Flo Waibel granted the long tracks from Suchtmaschine an orchestrated character. Their long tracks have the perfect mix of repetition and development over a strong sense of rhythm. Influences from the Psychedelic veterans of the 70s combined with a futuristic atmosphere and Post-Rock influences of the new century, "Suchtmaschine" found its place in its own musical heaven. Du Krautrock Made In Germany quoi ! (Review on Kra! by "Jaz" on jamendo.com)

Wertung: + + + + (Christian Bethge) www.regioactive.de

Hallo Freunde!
We are proud to present you our first music video. Unfortunately it was impossible to upload it here on Sellaband, so you find it here
We try it again, but this is a first announcement - worldwide.
The video was filmed and directed by guitarist Tobi during his inspirable 3 month journey to Kumasi/Ghana. Hope you like it, although the stream-quality is not that good (difficult with a 10 minute track-lenght).

Oh, and 2 tips: I think you better put your english info on top (If I wasn't able to read german I would never have scrolled down) and I think you should put the link to your video in the info-section too.

This is really one of the best things I heard on SAB. Long instrumental masterpieces. During listening 'Kraeuterboy, ahoy!' for the very first time I already decided to become a believer.

For the dutch: de mooiste taal is nog altijd de instrumentaal.

Suchtmaschine is pure love for music. Every chord, rif, rythm and sound is an answer to what the composition at that particular point asks for.

When you allow yourself to take the time - sit back, headphones, close your eyes - you will find yourself led by the various subtle changes, each of them perfectly timed, until you loose track of time and become one with the music.

Each composition is a journey you make together with the musicians, for just like you, they don't have control over what happens next .... only the music has.

Gorgeous instrumentals that make a long building composition of music rather than a straightforward "song".  I could just keep listening to their stuff all day.  My favorite discovery on this site, period.

These guys clearly have a great deal of skill and a vision of what they want to create; and they don't let that vision get clouded by mainstream assumptions about music.

A range of instrumental skills come through right away in "Kraeuterboy, Ahoy!", and while the long track with its shifting style seems at first like "several songs stuck together", this may reflect the assumptions of the listener... not all good music fits in a 3:05 timeframe.

Kumasi flows along with an evolving sound to create the kind of track you can just listen to and let your mind drift along.

Music like this can take some time to appreciate, and as such it may be a challenge for Suchtmaschine to build their audience; I look forward to seeing how they meet this challenge.
