Info
Back in the seventies, at the age of three, Toni La Mene, moved with his family from Israel to Congo former Zaire. His father worked for the Bata company and needed to find out whether shoes were needed in Africa. "Nobody wears shoes, nobody needs shoes", his wife said. "Nobody wears shoes, everybody needs shoes", Mr. La Mene (meaning "to number" in Hebrew) replied. So the family stayed there for over 24 years. In the meantime Toni had taught himself to play the guitar and sing. A little outside Kinshasa, "Saa Ndege", what Time To Fly means, became a frequently asked band to perform their Lingala music. Toni played guitar in this lively band.
In 2001, shortly after the murder of President Joseph Kabila, the family went to France. Toni was overwhelmed by the variety of sounds and styles in music. He immediately got bitten by the fangs of progressive music and passionate blues. He played in a band called "Cultive", a trio who did just a few gigs in the suburbs of Paris. Some of the basics from "The Luminol" come from old "Cultive" songs.
In 2004, Toni went to Amsterdam, to, as he calls it, "Refresh his Lev (mind in Hebrew)" and formed our present band "The Luminol" which features three permanent members at the moment. Toni - Guitars, Vocals, Keyboards and Programming. Walther de Cock - Bass and me, Luna van Deijk - Drum programming and backing vocals.
And fresh member Kees de Boer - Atmospherics, Strings and Maintenance
Thanks for listening,
Luna

Hi Luminol,
I must celebrate! I received a comment from you!
Sorry for having been rude, but I suffer when I see that very few know your music.
May I suggest you to write to Laudanum (Naf), he is also trying to wake up the "sleeping giants" and he is a really nice person and a talented musician.
I will try to help you in some way, just help me to help you ;-)

Very good new song.
So you resurrected... You make very interesting music, you're good musicians... but let me say that you're absolutely not able to tell anybody that you're here.
No pictures, always the same infos, no video: nothing.
Please tell me, are you here to communicate (and maybe to collect 5000 parts) or you want to remain in the shade for other 2 years?
I'm telling this because I like your music.

The Luminol have an impressive sound. It’s great to hear screamin’ guitar again. Especially when its backed up by an excellent rhythm section and matched with strong vocals. The complexity of style and sounds remind me of Zeppelin, Crimson, Purple, maybe a hint of Savoy Brown. They make you remember a lot of what rock ‘n’ roll is about and why it becomes a part of you. |
