The Phoenix was formed by Alex Mc Donnell and David O' Driscoll in
January of 2007. It would mark their 2nd venture live music, as both
musicians had previously established the band "Dust" in September '04.
Dust, also consisted of a bassist and Drummer, and played a number of
gigs around Dublin and Kildare whilst also recording a demo.
Commitment issues saw the end of both the bassist and drummer, and the band never recovered. Demoralized, Alex and David called it a day in 2006; However, on the basis of the material they had written and recorded, Mc Donnell and O'Driscoll decided to reform the band but under a new moniker which would epitomize the experiences they had gone through. The Phoenix was chosen as the perfect name to encapsulate how they had crashed and burned only to rise from the ashes with a new found determination to make full on bombastic inventive rock music. Currently The Phoenix is looking for a bassist, drummer and singer to complete the line up. And world domination! BelieversComments

Post comment Jul 10 2007 00:07 CET Maarten Ah good, so you're still around. Dont forget to update your page. A month without an update is bad (in my eyes). THats why i asked! Best of luck with the new song, finding a drummer and ofcourse everything else that you want/need luck for :-) Jul 08 2007 19:47 CET Maarten Hey Phoenix, are you still around? Apr 10 2007 11:03 CET hazel Thanks for the invite- I really like Sacred Song, I think it has some lovely melodies and although there's not many vocals, the instrumentation stands up really well on its own. Points for that one:) I had a bit of trouble with the sound of Cold Stare and Long Time Coming too though, they're much lower than the first track and hard to hear at times. Let us know if you post anything new, all the best:) Apr 10 2007 09:52 CET Shane Seymour * Well The Phoenix, I came and heard and I couldn't find it in myself to believe. The reverb on The Sacred Song really spoils what could be a really good song. The mix on the Cold Stare has almost sucked the life out of the song (the levels are so low they make everything seem indistinct). The Long Time Coming has similar problems. The music doesn't seem that bad but the recordings really let it down. I don't expect studio quality recordings from unsigned bands but you should be able to do better than this at home. I can't tell how good the songs are from the music you've put up, let me know if you put up songs with improved quality. I'm sorry for being so down on you but everyone deserves an honest opinion (remember that's it's only my opinion and others might disagree). Shane |
