BIOGRAPHY: The story of The Mirrors
The Mirrors is a band that erected in 2005 from slumbering particles of former bands Single Shot and Individual. Mainframe Wouter (drums) and Bart (vocals/rhythmguitar) found each other at Journalism School and soon after that, mutual friends Thom (bass) and Koen (leadguitar) joined the band. Nils (leadguitar) was the last one to join.
Unfortunately, several attempts to get some consensus about a definite name and the music, ended up in a break-up. Koen left, Bart left. The remaining three started playing covers and performed two times that year. Still, this seemed not to be quite the thing the guys were looking for. A few months later Bart was asked to rejoin and after some rehearsels a few recordings were made in the summer of 2006. Soon after that the band, now for the first time being called The Mirrors, played a great show at a birthday party at Dongen. The songs were received well and this should have given us enough spirit to continue, but.........
Again, something went wrong. Disputes over equipment, tight agendas and recording demos, left the band no choice but to stop working with Nils. This was around January 2007. Koen, fresh back from England joined The Mirrors and finally things seemed to fall in it's places. e played a gig at S-live Radio-band contest and ended runner-up amongst much more experienced bands.
Now, at the dawn of summer.. we finally got the definitive line-up. Koen remains as back-up for liveshows and Nils is now to stay on lead. No changes anymore, no more jibberjabber, just music as it is. The Mirrors are currently busy getting gigs and recording music.
In July 2007 the band will be recording a new demo in their own production.

Nils van Someren left the band during the some due to a difference of musical opinion. Koen Wieringa will be his replacement!
July 8th
We've finished the demo yesterday. Thanks to Steven Postma (PADStudio). Everything is being mixed and mastered at the moment, so it should come all together in a few days!

We've added Intercourse to our profile. To all the believers, listeners and fans. We still have to keep you waiting a little longer for new material. The rest of the band (wouter, thom and bart) have safely returned from Werchter (as visitors :P) and at the end of this week we'll know more of the recordings and all of that.

It's been a while since you've heard from us. All the band members are very busy with the preps of the upcoming recordings. But between the song rehearsels and other things there was some time to do a little acoustic set at Stadsradio Breda (107.3 FM). Thanks to the people of the radiobroadcaster for this opportunity. Audio material will soon be listenable via www.themirrors.nl. For now the whole show is listenable via www.stadsradiobreda.nl.

First of all we would like to congratulate maitreya on reaching their 50K. A great artist with great talent deserves it! We're looking forward to their cd!
Thom, Bart and Nils rehearsed today the songs for the locals united show on the 15th of June. We expect it to be a great show! Bart had some beers and his Beatallica cd, and that guarantees a great day. We all watched v.d. Vaart score 2 againt Southern Korea and we had a laugh! Time to go home now guys......(short for: we ran out of beer so get lost!!!!!)

Our legaldownload webshop is online now AND activated. Just that little bit of extra promotion out on the world wide web.
Does anyone think it's time to change the songs again??? We did a remaster on suit yourself (online now) and we added some new pictures. Also, starting today, every believer who brings up his/hers investment to 3 parts will receive a copy of the acoustic demo The Mirrors recorded earlier this year!
May 30th
We booked studio time in a studio called PAD Studio (link) in Breda, The Netherlands. So the outlook is to have a (hopefully) highly professional demo-recording of three new songs online within 2 months!!!!!!
As we speak we're discussing the all the difficult aspects of such a recording (sound, songs etc.). But it's all for a good cause!!!!
(no words from Wouter today.....hmmm....strange.... ;) )

Thanks to our beloved believer Charlotte we reached 100 USD today. This can be considered our first little landmark. A huge big applause to Charlotte everyone!!!!
Wouter contacted us all the way from the US of A. Again he told us that he was fine. We asked if he was planning to do tell us everyday....he said yes....what a lovely fellow....!!! Oh yeah, before i forget....we re-posted Intercourse to the profile (studio version). We thought it might fit better on this medium than the song why (perhaps to dark) or an acoustic version of intercourse....... don't hesitate to leave us a comment about the song!!!!

We've got news from our drummer (Wouter is currently visiting the US, which is in his opinion the country he should have been born in (also see: pictures/photos of the mirrors )). He says HI and confirms his well-being.
And more news today, recordings are scheduled for the upcoming demo. More info to come!!!!

Just wanted to pop in and give you a heads up on Sommersby's October Competition!
If you haven't already heard, the competition (hot on the heels of his recent neck-in-neck September fiesta) will offer 20 parts for the winner and is open to all artists that have between $9999 and $0 in budget.

Thank you for your invitation to visit your profile and listen to your songs. Not bad, nice atmospheric pop. I'm sure you'll work on your arrangements a bit more. The instruments aren't part of a whole yet, the drums are a bit too predictable for my liking, it sounds a little like "de school band die we vroeger bij mij op school hadden". With a professional studio (you've got that now), you'll be able to work on the harmony. I'll put you on my wish list for now so I'll come over once in a while to listen what you've been up to. Hi Mirrors,
I don't think that there's enough for me to believe in yet. Like lucretia I can see potential in your music but it doesn't immediately grab me like other bands. If you're still able to remix the songs I'd be more than happy to give detailed feedback in the hope of getting a better mix for at least one song.
