The Phoenix Bio

His lyrics and his actions are carefully crafted like a sculptor's statue - - There stands The Phoenix.  With a vocal delivery that can be compared to the popular down south swagger combined with an accent of a watered-down northerner best explains the sound of this rising Hip Hop artist.However, The Phoenix was born as a "military brat" on the West Coast in California and later relocated to the East Coast as a youth.  Growing up, The Phoenix consistently traveled to and fro between Virginia, Louisiana, and Texas, which is where he found his niche, calling, and desire to entertain and connect people through music.

"It was crazy going back and forth because in the South everyone seems so laid back and hospitable and on the East Coast everyone is loud and rowdy, Phoenix explains‚ "but as I looked at everything, I realized that it was the same thing, everyone was on the same hype.  To me, there really wasn't anything different with the way of life.  I found myself somewhat in between the two, the best of both worlds is what I called it because I can be chilled out like the South and wild like the East. I can roll or relate to almost everyone.  It doesn't matter, if you are from the hood, the suburbs, if you are militant, corporate, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Italian, African, or whatever you are and what you believe.  I can relate to you somehow."

Being in various regions of the United States, The Phoenix's fan base grew as cats began to take notice of his talent and demeanor. While completing a range of projects working with Dallas, Texas based artists such as The Young Hustlers, K.A.T.,  and helping with promotions for Mike Jones, DSR, and other local Texas music groups.  The Phoenix has also appeared on several projects in Virginia Beach, Virginia with various local groups.

The Phoenix still believes entertainment is about more than just music. With the will to learn the entertainment business and behind the scenes of the industry, he entered Grambling State University and graduated with a degree in Mass Communication emphasizing in radio broadcasting. While attending GSU, The Phoenix made connections and landed a job at a radio station learning the ins and outs of the industry and what it takes to make it as an artist. With that knowledge instilled in him, he is now ready to take the world by storm.

The Phoenix began rapping in the mid 90s. He listened to artists like Jay Z, Rakim, and Canibus.  He also studied successful moguls in the communications industry such as Russell Simmons, Tom Joyner, Ted Turner CEO/Founder of Turner Communications, Earl Graves CEO of Black Enterprise Magazine and John Hogan CEO of Clear Channel Radio, whom directly and indirectly affected Hip Hop.

I can throw a rock and it can land on someone that either was rapping or knew somebody that could rap,"  Phoenix said. "I was always into music and rapping was a gift that was given to me. I still remember the first rap I spit."

As a lyrical sculptor, The Phoenix is currently carving his masterpiece, The Trojan Horse.  So, pay close attention to every line and watch his actions.  Though it may seem he is going against the grain at times, all of his movements are with purpose and meaning.

"The power is the one behind the throne," Phoenix describes.  Therefore, I will eventually create crowns. However, I must accept royalty now, in order for me to create Kings and Queens later."
