The Regiment Broke Up!!

After 2 years with a lot of fun The Regiment broke up. Personal interests made the band members decide to split up.
- Thomas & Bart started a new band called: Alison Stereo, so check www.myspace.com/alisonstereo .
- Nick decided to focus on his studies.
- Darrick still plays drums, but has no bandproject at the moment.

The Story of The Regiment.

The story of the Dutch band The Regiment started in the summer of 2005. The remainders of the band “Half Past 2” decided to change course and head into a new Direction. During that summer new songs were written and new ideas were put on paper. A new thing started to get shape.

In December 2005 The Regiment stormed the stage of the nearby 013 Pop Centre in Tilburg. This was done after spending many “Sweaty Sundays” in the rehearsal rooms. What became clear from that very first beginning was that The Regiment puts down a very energetic show and involves its crowd. That sure tasted like having more and so the band decided to record some demo tracks that same month. The EP “Sweaty Sunday’s” was born.

Armed with new songs, a more energetic show, and a new demo, The Regiment entered the 2006 battlefield filled with new stages to perform on. During the shows performed on these stages the band proves to be liked by its crowd. Shortly after the band scored their first success. A spot in the finals of the band contest “Hooikoorts”. During the period which followed the band managed to win the Pop/Rock price at another band contest “Kippenvel”.  Meanwhile a Pop magazine described the songs on the demo to be catchy and -an invitation to come and see the guys perform live.

During the last half year of 2006 the Regiment was able to keep up their success. 3voor12 (a Dutch national pop organization) got enthusiastic about the live performance given by the guys from The Regiment. A quote from a written article said the following: ”The Regiment knows how to impress with their Pop/Punk songs and at the end of the evening they seemed to control the crowd. During the end of the show the PA equipment decided to call it quits because it needed a time out after the energetic show performed by The Regiment.” That same week the band played a larger venue in the Choice 013 pop centre Tilburg. Other bands like: Sum41 and Blink 182 played that stage before.

On the 1st of October 2006 The Regiment celebrated their first anniversary. They celebrated this together with their new drummer Darrick van Dieren. With Darrick the band was again “Back on Track, and Wild & Sexy!”.

In the future The Regiment will keep spreading the word. The statement “Be all you can be!”  needs to be heard on stages all across the globe. With songs intended to strengthen their message and a powerful show The Regiment will try to be around more often. No one can tell what will happen down the line, but with newer songs, a better show, and the recording of a better CD in the future, The Regiment will March on!!!.. Salute
