Info
CARNIVAL OF SOULS is a London-based alt.rock band. Gronk, Gus and John hooked up with Hugo in 2004, and moved into a warehouse in Hackney together for two years where they cut their teeth playing the East London toilet circuit. They are now playing headline gigs at respected Camden venues the Barfly and the Underworld, usually to a crowd of 100-200 fans. The band is beginning to receive national press attention, and was recently interviewed for a podcast in The Sun’s music section ‘Bizarre’, May 2007.
The band’s music is a mix of eclecticism and barefaced cheese, bringing dub and post-rock influences into a classic rock template. Vocalist Gronk’s love of The Cure and Bruce Springsteen produces the catchy choruses, underpinned by Gus’s Edge-esque delayed guitar; John’s melodic basslines and Hugo’s epic drumming complete the picture. They are in their mid-twenties, close friends who have been through a lot together. The Carnival Of Souls believe utterly in their music, and will not rest until they have left their mark on the 21st Century.
